Ep. 248 Junee
2026/10/09
What does it take to go from hood to butterfly?
For my 248th interview on Quince Questions, I sat down with singer songwriter junee.songs right as her new album HOOD BUTTERFLY takes flight.
Junee' is in her transformation era. On the cover she stands in gold and brown against concrete and glass, wearing those blue, orange and yellow butterfly wings with a ghostly double exposure behind her — that tension between who you were and who you're becoming. That's the whole record.
We get into the making of HOOD BUTTERFLY, the album that includes "R U N Love With Me?", "Diamonds & Pearls", "Breathe", "Brown Skin Man" and more from the project released May 3 on Second Street Music.
In this conversation we talk about:
The meaning behind Hood Butterfly and why she chose metamorphosis as the through-lineHow tracks like "R U N Love With Me?" and "Breathe" were built in the studioGold eyeshadow, halos, and building a visual world to match the musicWriting as inner dialogue and healing out loudWhat this album unlocked for her live showIf you've ever had to shed a skin to find your wings, this one is for you.
This episode drops Friday, Oct 9.

Quince Questions #247 with Marshall Rice — Building a Community-Driven Creative Studio in South Jersey
On this episode of Quince Questions, host Quincy Stallworth sits down with photographer and educator Marshall Rice — the owner of Mill Street Studio in Mount Holly, NJ.
We talk about the leap from behind the camera to running a full creative hub: hourly rentals, monthly memberships, model workshops, and headshot work that actually builds community. Marshall breaks down how he built Mill Street Studio around the ethos of CAPTURE • CREATE • INSPIRE, and why South Jersey needed a space where all creatives are welcome.
From lighting education and gray-card / V-flat techniques to creating a business that’s YOUR VISION. OUR SPACE, this is a masterclass in turning a photography passion into a sustainable, community-first studio — the exact story we teased as building a community-driven creative studio.
Recorded at Mill Street Studio — 32 Mill Street, Mt Holly, NJ. Professional studio, real community.

Ep. 243 Only You - Single by Teri Tobin
2026/02/14
Teri Tobin is back with another love song, fulfilling her promise to spread love
one-love-song-at-a-time. Only You is a smooth, grown-and-sexy soul record built on intimacy, emotional certainty, and a warm mid-tempo groove that naturally lends itself to a clean two-step and the elegance of the Chicago Steppers dance floor. Lush harmonies and an easy pocket make it ideal for adult R&B and late-night rotation.
The track reached its full expression when producer Corey Hodge suggested
adding
2-time Grammy Nominee Saxappeal (Charlie Wilson, Dwele), instantly elevating the mood and sensuality of the record.
"The musical marriage of Teri's vocals and
Saxappeal's sax play... I've waited so long for this.
The result... sonic brilliance!"
The saxophone doesn't just complement the groove-it sets the mood, adding romance, depth, and undeniable replay value. Only You is made for grown listeners, close embraces, and moments where the music says exactly what words don't have to.
Ep. 242 Teri Tobin
2025/08/08
Arizona-based Teri Tobin has been singing since before she could talk. Her first professional introduction to the music industry came when she provided background vocals for Jeffrey Osborne. Although her early training took place in the church, she later received classical training at Howard University. Tobin has admired many music legends, including Donny Hathaway, Prince, and Stevie Wonder, among others. She has shared the stage with renowned artists, including the late great Luther Vandross, Diana Ross, Eric Benet, and Doug E. Fresh. Additionally, she has provided background vocals for Coolio, Chante Moore, and Mica Paris. Her voice has been described as “smoother than wine, rich like butter, and goes down like honey.” A two-time Independent Music Award winner and a two-time nominee for the SoulTracks Reader’s Choice Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year, Tobin has collaborated across various genres, including jazz, gospel, hip-hop, house, EDM, and reggae. Her debut album, Love Infinity (2011), along with its hit single “Free,” a tribute to Donny Hathaway, was a #1 smash in the UK and the Netherlands for several weeks. Tobin also independently released So Good To Me (2012), Christmas Child EP (2012) and Truth Is (2014). With a sound deeply rooted in classic R&B, flavored with jazz and gospel influences, her catalog explores themes of self-worth, real-life experiences, and celebrates the resurgence of love songs. Tobin’s latest highly acclaimed album, Forever, boasts several standout singles: “Curves,” “This Life With You” featuring Al Chauncy, the sensual “Home 2 U,” and the powerful anthem “Melanated Magic,” all of which are being played and streamed globally. The Forever Tour is an intimate blend of sensuality, empowerment, and a customary two-step. In a landscape craving authenticity, her rich, sultry, and soulful sound is both timeless and right on time.

Ep. 236 Fawziyya Heart
2025/03/19
Fawziyya was born and raised in the heart of Philadelphia. She has been heavily influenced by the Philly music scene, which has changed over the years. Building long-lasting musical relationships on the scene and a pure love of music keeps her going daily. Her deepest inspirations are Nina Simone and Erykah Badu, and this is reflected in her music: a funk-infused blend of jazz, blues, and soul with anthemic lyrics calling for social change and self-transformation.
Fawziyya started on the Philadelphia music scene in 2012 by performing with various bands and dipping her feet in the music. She performed, recorded, and wrote several songs with global house music collective World Town Sound System alongside Grammy award-winning percussionist Pablo Batista (Alicia Keys/Grover Washington Jr).
For the last year Fawziyya has been hard at work readying her new EP, featuring her original songs and an array of Philly talent. The new songs are produced by Philadelphia’s legendary Chuck Treece, who remixed songs for Amy Grant and Sting and played bass on "The River of Dreams" by Billy Joel. Trap Rabbit's Logan Roth has co-arranged the songs and added his distinct sound to the tracks. Come along on this journey; explore this Philly songstress's mind through song and sound.
