The Four meet with Sir Keryth Vafiel, the High Paladin of Balmous and Keeper of the Armoury. He helps them outfit themselves to better address the challenges that lie ahead for them. Gwen receives a sending from Athgarr letting her know that Aralahkis is once again up and around and wants to meet with her and the rest of the Four. The group teleports directly to the Lord’s Keep in Thunder’s Edge and finds Athgarr, Aralahkis, and Gaygo in the audience chamber where a square of couches has been set up. Aralakhis tells the group about the memories he has recovered from his days before the Shattering, and his intention to head to Western Aecathan to try to find out what has happened there since, and perhaps begin searching for other gemstone dragons who have also been living without knowledge of their draconic nature for over a century. Gaygo drops some land-shattering news and discusses how problematic that news might be. Aralakhis departs for western Aecathan to begin his search for answers to all of his questions.

The Four, with Emberheart in tow, head to the Wizards Tower and find the office of Master Ixar by his charred and warped door. After stopping his summoning ritual, an irate Master Ixar opens the door and, after some terse introductions, invites them in. Master Ixar examines Zorith's tattoo and pronounces it “incredibly wicked.” He determines there are two separate magic spells embedded in the tattoo: The ward protecting the tattoo from magical examination, and a separate spell that obfuscates what the tattoo actually says in Infernal. Tasha attempts to scry on Zorith, and determines that through such means, Zorith is visible but her tattoo is just a blur. Master Ixar then summons an imp to test the theory that the presence of Infernal creatures triggers a reaction in Zorith’s tattoo, which it does. After thanking Master Ixar for his help and insights, the group head to the Enchanter’s Tower to meet with Master Enchanter Rhoxea. The Master Enchanter is able to help the group with a variety of magical items, as well as receiving the Amulets of Proof Against Detection and Location they had borrowed from the Tower. The group stop back in to see Master Obras, to brief him on what Master’s Ixar and Rhoxea were able to help them with, before heading off to the Faelifiri Sanctum.

After Aribell detects magic on Zorith’s tattoo, Tasha attempts to cast Legend Lore on it, resulting in her being feebleminded. Aribell is able to heal her using the Rod of Resurrection. Stopping off at the keep, Gwen gives Athgarr a sending stone and introduces him to Emberheart. The Four travel to the Tower of Azinor to ask about Zorith’s tattoo and do a bit of shopping to improve their adventuring gear. Their first stop is Master Obras’ office, but he was in class. Gwen and Emberheart head off to hunt while the rest wait for Obras’ return. Upon getting back to his office, Obras tells the group to speak to Master Rhoxea, the Master Enchanter, about acquiring magic items. Zorith informs Obras about the goings-on with her tattoo and he attempts to discern more about it, with his wild-magic saving him from another flare-up from the warding magic woven into the tattoo. Obras recommends that, given her tattoo’s behavior around the imp, the group speak to Master Ixar, whose studies focus on things abyssal and infernal. Gwen and Emberheart have a successful hunt in the Jaonos Wood before returning to the tower as the group is preparing to track down Master Ixar.

The morning after the election, the Four take stock of what tasks they know about that still need to be addressed. After a brief conversation with Zek, they head off to the Ivorys Wrath for breakfast and to check in with Oloric. At the Wrath they discover a huge crowd, all wanting to speak to the new Lord, because he spent hours talking to people the night before. After consulting with Athgarr, Gwen suggests that they talk to those assembled and write down their messages for their new Lord. Afterwards, Gwen takes point on creating an office where people could have their needs and desires recorded and delivered to the Keep for Athgarr to review. The group brings Wiggy and Jerrienne in on the plan, asking their assistance with hiring the personnel needed, finding a location for the office, and furnishing it once it’s secured. Both promise their help. The Four begin planning out their next moves, including picking up Gwen’s wolf from Ballinamard and improving their armor and weaponry before their next armed conflict. The group teleports to Ballinamard where Gwen reacquaints herself with Emberheart, the wolf she bonded with some weeks ago. With their new member following, they return to the Fourhome in Thunder’s Edge.

The Four arrive at the banquet after the public memorial for Lord Tremane. Athgarr’s absence is notable, as is Aralakhis’. Athgarr arrives and begins speaking to all the guests. Gwen joins him when he addresses his detractors among the Clan Council. Eventually, most of the dignitaries depart, leaving only those closest to the Four and Athgarr. After sitting with them for a while, Athgarr presents Tasha with a copy of “Obras Greater Sending” translated by Masters Obras and Wranro specifically for them. Athgarr explains to Captain Warbender, and everyone else at the table, how the clan council vote works, and that the voting will continue until a single candidate has been chosen. Aribell reveals a note left for the Four by the dignitaries from Citadel Craekazaki, asking for the Four’s assistance in ferreting out Jogravannan spies in the Citadel. Zorith’s tattoo began to itch, and a small, red, winged creature was spotted perched some distance away, watching the assembled, before it vanished. The next day the clan vote begins. The wait is over... but what will the outcome be?

As the Four gathered at the Lord’s Keep, they observed Aralahkis bearing an odd faded blue splotching on his skin, but he seemed fine, and no magics cast upon him seemed to have any effect. The public ceremony began with a prayer from the High Priestess of Pharos, followed by Athgarr’s eulogy. A veritable who’s who of dignitaries from across Aecathan arrived, including the leadership from Citadel Craekazaki and a surprise appearance from the Archdruid of the Amblyantha Forest! At the conclusion of the memorial receiving line, Gaego and Aralahkis stepped out of the line to join with the Sept leaders from the Gold, Silver, Brass, and Copper septs, assumed dracoform, and flew in formation as a tribute to Lord Tremane. Just as the service was ending, Tasha witnessed one of the dragons, far to the west, fall from the sky. The four teleported to the edge of the city and flew on their magic carpet to the scene of the downed dragon. What they saw was an impossibility... yet it was real! Afterwards, Athgarr and the Four teleported back to the Lord’s Keep, where the Four left for the banquet while Athgarr went to meet with Sten to brief her on her responsibilities standing in for Aralahkis during the Clan Council vote the following day.

When they arrive at the Keep, they find it being assailed by a squad of Jogravannan soldiers and an elite group of powerful warriors and spellcasters who are intent on laying waste to the building and everyone in it! The Clan Memorial is complete, and now the work turns to the public memorial, where Thunder's Edge will host leaders and dignitaries from across Aecathan. In and around the preparations, the Four meet to discuss contingencies, Gwen seeks out Clan Elder Sheven for some advice, and everything seems in order. The night before the service, however, Aribell receives a partial sending from Aralahkis, summoning them to aid him! When they arrive at the Keep, they find it being assailed by a squad of Jogravannan soldiers and an elite group of powerful warriors and spellcasters who are intent on laying waste to the building and everyone in it! Part 1 of 2!

The day of the Clan Memorial, the Four, Athgarr, and Aralahkis meet at the Temple of Phahros about an hour before the service begins to go over the final details. Athgarr reveals to the Four his decision to officially stand for Lord of Thunder’s Edge. At the commencement of the service, Athgarr delivers the eulogy he has written for his father, with a surprise song in a language none of them understand coming just before the end. Just before the audience begins greeting Athgarr and those standing with him, Sheven signals Aralahkis and he asks Gwen to switch places with him, ostensibly so he can talk to Aribell, leaving her standing next to Athgarr. As the Clan Councilmembers walk the memorial line, the feelings of the individual members about Athgarr and, in some instances, Gwenlaryn, become much clearer. It is revealed that Athgarr doesn’t remember singing, nor anything about the song itself, which is revealed to be in ancient High Elven and has not been sung in close to 4 centuries. Sheven comes through and apologies to Athgarr and Gwen and tells them they may hate her but she will understand. After the last person walks the line and has departed for the meal in the adjoining hall, the group presses Aralahkis, who reveals he was forced by Sheven to move Gwen next to Athgarr. Gwen and Athgarr discuss their misgivings about Sheven’s strategy, it having some very personal ramifications for their future, before splitting off from the group in the hopes that Athgarr will finally get some rest.

Aribell, Tasha, and Zorith stop in at the Shouting Pirate in Aermagh to chat with Jojo, who reveals a bit of personal life-changing information. The trio had to Gwenlaryn’s Estate to recruit Tosk, Kaylin, and Gyrta to accompany them to Thunder’s Edge to help with the Clan and Public memorial services. Zorith and Tasha bring Gwen’s staff and Aribell’s parents to the Fourhome via a teleportation circle and gets everyone settled. Aralahkis and Gwen head to the Ivorys Wrath to talk with Oloric and formally recruit him and Cook for the ceremonies, and discovers that Cook is an informal disciple of Kaylin’s. Gwen heads to Athgarr’s house and encounters Sheven coming out after another meeting. They discuss Athgarr’s support, or lack thereof, for his succeeding his father. The couple have a serious discussion of what Athgarr’s standing for Lord of Thunder’s Edge would mean for the Four, then they discussed the crew that has been assembled to handle the meals for the ceremonies. Tasha secures performance time at the Blue Spider for her new quintet of songs asserting Athgarr’s place in the Four’s recent adventures. Athgarr asks the Four for their advice on whether or not he should “throw his hat in the ring” for Lord of Thunder’s Edge.

As Aribell fixes breakfast, Tasha writes an additional verse about the Orcs to add to the song about what happened in Ballinamard, Zorith heads to the Sunrise Bakers to pick up pastries, and Zek arrives to check on the noises coming from the first floor, revealing that he’s discovered a new purple mushroom down in the sewers of Thunder’s Edge. At their breakfast meeting, the Four, Athgarr, Oloric, Arilahkis, and Sten divide up their duties: The Four will head to Aermagh to ask Lady Lahrana to help organize the public Memorial, while Athgarr, Arilahkis, Sten, and Oloric remain behind to work on the Clan Funeral. The table discussed the private vs. public perception of Gwen and Athgarr’s relationship, Aribell positing that if Athgarr was seen as involved, the perception would be that he was more settled, and thus more likely to be perceived as a legitimate candidate for ruler of Thunder’s Edge. A tentative schedule for the Clan Funeral to be held three days hence, with the public Memorial service to held three days after that. Gwen makes the decision to stay behind and assist Athgarr, and the rest of The Four take a moment to reassure Gwen that she is capable of handling everything being thrown at her. Aribell, Tasha, and Zorith teleport to Thebes Manor in Aermagh, where Aribell gains Lady Lahrana’s assistance for planning the public ceremony in Thunder’s Edge, Lord Ormand also agreed to return as well. The trio decide to grab a drink and some lunch at the Shouting Pirate before heading to Gwen’s Estate to recruit the last few helpers.

Athgarr and Gwen go to visit Sheven Goldenmane, one of the Lion Clan elders that Athgarr has a good relationship with, to ask for advice on the idea of holding two separate funeral services for his father. Sheven agrees to talk to him about on one condition: That he arrange for her to meet the other member of the Four. Athgarr suggests they meet at the Ivory’s Wrath, a suggestion that is well received by Sheven after she realizes that’s where the “handsome blue fellow” works. After making her attraction to Oloric public, Aribell advises Sheven that there’s currently an “understanding” between him and Zorith. When Zorith is persuaded to demonstrate her wings, and Oloric’s open-mouthed reaction is pointed out to Zorith, Sheven makes a few rather blunt observations to Zorith. Sheven grills the table about stories involving Athgarr that haven’t been made public, and Tasha performs the quintet of new songs she’s written about the exploits of The Four while Athgarr has been traveling with them. Later, Athgarr is surprised by a line of citizens from the Outer Enclave who wanted to express their sympathies, which continues until Oloric closes the Wrath for the evening. The group decides to host a breakfast the following morning to discuss plans for the dual ceremonies, including Aralahkis, Sten, and Oloric.
