The reality of being Neuro-divergent with Christa Dillon
2021/05/13
TW - Suicide, Self harm.Every day and every month should be rightfully focused on mental health, but in the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Week, Christa Dillon (TikTok superstar and owner of Blackhill Eventing) joins me to talk about some of the more 'taboo' topics associated with living with a mental health disorder. Christa, similar to me, is living with a recent diagnosis. We discuss the harsh reality of communicating with neuro-typical people, living with suicidal thoughts and self harming, and the stigma associated with being honest and open about being unstable, or just struggling with life in general. We also touch upon how horses have helped us through these unsettling times, and as an equestrian community, what we should be doing to support one another.'We are more than our disorder.'

Equisportif Marketing - Livi Spurrell
2021/03/23
I am so pleased to welcome this weeks guest, Livi Spurrell, founder of Equisportif, a social media marketing agency. I first reached out to Livi a few months ago, commenting on her fantastic ability and talent to create compelling imagery and videos for her clients in the industry. Livi's talent and passion for story telling and translating Rider and Brands narratives is second to none. We talk about how she left her 9-5 job, how daunting it was to set up on her own, how riders and brands can capture their audience, and her future plans for Equisportif. I really enjoyed hearing about how how she creates these compelling campaigns for her clients, and how she believes that everyone in the industry has a story to tell, that people are keen to hear and learn from. Whether you're a rider, a brand looking for ambassadors, or even someone who is interested in content creation, you'll definitely want to listen with a notepad and pen at the ready!Follow Livi at Equisportif below:@equisportifmarketingEquestrian Marketing | Equisportif
Life beyond Oxbridge

This week I have manged to persuade Lucy Blain back on the Podcast! We discuss our experiences growing up with horses and managing school, college and being pushed into University. We both have similar experiences and realised throughout our time in school, that going to Oxford and Cambridge simply wasn't something we wanted to do, but were consistently told to have a successful career we'd need a degree. Hear more about how we both decided to chose different routes, and found what suited us best alongside our love of horses.Check out Lucy's blog and buy her new book! @cromwellandlucy
Is my horse too good for me?
2021/01/09
Happy New Year! This week I wanted to focus on something I've battled with in the past, the idea of my horses being too good for me, or 'over horsing' myself. Which I have 100% done in the past! It can be hard not to listen to the negative comments, either from others, or the little voice inside my head. I know I'm not alone in this as others have told me they have felt the same, and have even considered selling their horse, thinking that they'd be best place with someone else that would do the horse 'justice'. 9/10 this simply isn't true!@shortstridesthepodcast
