Description

For years, I had searched for the perfect lens-sensor combination; a lens and camera duo that would produce a beautiful image with few adjustments and little post-processing. It would look REAL straight out of camera (SOOC) and be everything I needed and wanted in a camera system. However, as I tested each pair, they all told a different story, and would deliver light to the sensor differently. So, I began tweaking settings, jotting down notes (on index cards) for each lens-sensor combination I tried. I soon realized I needed a database to access all my settings & LUTs, and created my website.

3 Affordable But Good Lenses PART 2
2026/10/22

3 Affordable But Good Lenses (My Thrifty 3)
2026/10/06
I've been putting all of the lenses I've tested into 3 general categories for a bit (WIDE, TIGHT and TELE)...and now I'm starting to wonder if I should make this into some kind of METHOD? All-Manual Canon EF to M43 Adapter: https://ebay.io/m/ysoOl9
Are Wide Angle Lenses Overrated? PART 3
2026/09/30
In the third and final episode about wide angle lenses, we change our focus to the actual images they produce; not the hype, not the claims, but what the image actually "projects".
Are Wide Angle Lenses Overrated? PART 2
2026/09/30
This episode gets into the history of how ultra-wide angle lenses were marketed, and why some say they can't live without them.
Are Wide Angle Lenses Overrated? PART 1
2026/09/30
This might seem like a strange question to ask, but the question is why do we NEED wide angle lenses?
Small Gear is a Big Deal PART 2
2026/09/29
We continue talking about the advantages of using compact (and affordable) camera gear...and ask myself the question "Do I really need a $100,000 gear van?"
Small Gear is a Big Deal PART 1
2026/09/28
If we look back in time, camera gear used to be a lot bigger...and we go over a lot of the reasons. However, there are so many compact, budget options out there today, that the only reason to have the bigger gear, is to be more impressive (if that's your goal).
Good Lenses for the GoPro ILS (All Manual Focus)
2026/09/25
In this episode (and the last) we started talking about how the footage from the GoPro ILS CAN be good IF you have the right lenses (and the right SETTINGS too).
More GoPro ILS Ideas (Is a 1-inch Sensor Good?)
2026/09/25
I don't think it could be your ONLY camera, but in the role of a second or third camera we're starting to ask "What can I do for my GoPro ILS" instead of "What can the GoPro ILS do for me?"
Are DSLRs Good PHOTOS or VIDEO?
2026/09/21
NOTE: I think I hit the limit for this Hollyland A1 noise-cancelling mic system, and it sounds pretty bad. I was taking a walk (outside, just under the flight path near an airport). So, I used to use DSLRs and nothing else, because it was the late 1990s/ early 2000s, and because I was focused on still photography. However, when video capabilities were added to DSLRs, a lot of us started getting excited about the possibilities...it opened up a door to do work we couldn't do previously. However, as time has marched on, DSLRs are starting to not be such a good idea.
A GoPro ILS Plus a Speedbooster (Nice Idea)
2026/09/12
We are starting to talk about lens options for the GoPro ILS, and using a Nikon to Micro Four Thirds speedbooster (focal reducer) sounds like it might work well...Haven't tested this yet. Filters Affect the Image But is That Good?
2026/09/09
There's a blog post I did earlier (and an older podcast episode) about this same topic, but it's even MORE IMPORTANT than I thought (especially when using custom LUTs).
