Saved or Not | No Apologies Week 4 | Save the Cowboy
2026/09/27
You are either saved or you are not. Hell is going to be full of good people, and Kevin tells the hard truth about salvation the way the old hellfire and brimstone preachers used to tell it. Kevin Weatherby rides into week four of No Apologies, a five week series on how to defend your faith, built on 1 Peter 3:15-16. Week four takes on the one thing you cannot defend until you understand it: salvation. Most people do not understand it because they do not want it. They like their Godless life, and this world has become one big Venus fly trap. The wages of sin are death. Jesus satisfied the Law by being perfect and satisfied the justice of God by taking our punishment, so the cost of your forgiveness is the death of God. And the only way to get it is to become a new creation. In this message: "Why do most people not want to be saved?" "You are either saved or you are not." "Can you lose your salvation?" "The cost of your forgiveness is the death of God." Scripture: 1 Peter 3:15-16, John 3:19-20, James 1:14-15, Romans 6:23, 1 John 5:12, Matthew 7:21-23, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Deuteronomy 30:19 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. Why Does God Allow Suffering? | No Apologies Week 3 | Save the Cowboy
2026/09/20
If God is good, why does He let a good man get crushed? Kevin takes the question that reaches every house sooner or later, and he does not talk around it. Kevin Weatherby rides into week three of No Apologies, a five week series on how to defend your faith, built on 1 Peter 3:15-16. Before you ask why God allows suffering, ask what God wants. He could have anything He wanted, and what He wants is you, freely choosing Him. That is why evil is still loose in this world, because a choice that cannot go wrong was never a choice at all. And the suffering is not wasted, because the One who asks you to take up a cross carried His first, and the trail He rode runs through a tomb with a hole blowed wide open in the back of it. In this message: "What does God want?" "If God wants us to choose Him, why allow evil?" "But why so much suffering?" Scripture: 1 Peter 3:15-16, Mark 2:17, Psalm 8:3-5, Deuteronomy 30:19-20, Genesis 1:31, Romans 5:12, 2 Peter 3:9, Isaiah 53:3-5, 1 Peter 2:21, Romans 8:17-18 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. When Science and Faith Collide | No Apologies Week 2 | Save the Cowboy
2026/09/13
Science says billions of years. Your Bible says about six thousand. Pete said always be ready to explain it, so here is what you do when the two do not line up. Kevin Weatherby rides into week two of No Apologies, a five week series on how to defend your faith, built on 1 Peter 3:15-16. This week takes the three hardest questions people ask about God and science. Does God exist, and the answer is in the order of the place, in a calf that finds the udder without being taught, and in the plain fact that everything left alone runs down and goes back to dirt. What do you do when science and faith collide, which is a real collision and not one to talk around. And who made God, which sounds like a trap until you notice nobody made him, because only the things that began ever needed a maker. In this message: "Does God exist?" "What do you do when science and faith collide?" "Who made God?" Scripture: Romans 1:20, Romans 1:25, Colossians 2:8, 2 Corinthians 4:18, Psalm 90:2 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. Can I Trust the Bible? | No Apologies Week 1 | Save the Cowboy
2026/09/06
Somebody at the sale barn tells you the Bible has been rewritten so many times you can't trust a word of it. Pete said always be ready to explain it, so here is what you say back. Kevin Weatherby opens No Apologies, a five week series on how to defend your faith, built on 1 Peter 3:15-16. Week one takes the three things people throw at the Book itself. In 1947 they found the Dead Sea Scrolls in a cave near Qumran, and the copy of Isaiah in there was a thousand years older than the oldest one we had, and it said the same thing. The top skeptic scholar in the country admits in writing that most of the differences between the copies do not change a thing that matters. A document called the Muratorian Fragment already listed 22 of the 27 New Testament books as scripture in AD 180, a hundred and forty five years before anybody rode to Nicaea. And four witnesses who tell it a little different from each other are not lying, because nobody lies to make himself look bad. In this message: "The Bible has been rewritten and changed over time" "The Council of Nicaea decided what was in the Bible" "The Bible is full of contradictions" Scripture: 1 Peter 3:15-16, 1 Timothy 5:18, 2 Peter 3:15-16 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. Three Colossal Warnings | Save the Cowboy
2026/08/30
Paul never met this church. A preacher named Epaphras rode all the way from Colossae to Rome to ask the greatest church starter there ever was what to do about the mess back home. What Paul sent back was three colossal warnings. Kevin Weatherby preaches Colossians 2, where a young Gentile church sits on the main trade route between Laodicea and Hierapolis with every philosophy in the known world hauled straight through town. Shallow roots that pull up the first time something takes a bite. New revelation that is neither new nor true. And the Jesus plus crowd, always adding a rule Jesus never said. Jesus plus anything equals nothing. Jesus plus nothing equals everything. In this message: Get a good root system: belief is the seed, following is the fruit Beware Christian seasoning: if it's new, it ain't true Beware legalism: the Jesus plus crowd and the joy vampires Scripture: Colossians 2:2-3, 6-8, 16, 18-23, Jeremiah 6:16 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. The Ambassador's Ride | Jesus' Own Man Week 3 | Save the Cowboy
2026/08/23
Last week the warden pulled up just to watch. This week you find out how that ride went, and why the ride is not the part that got remembered. That is week three of Jesus' Own Man. Kevin Weatherby closes the series in 2 Corinthians 5, where Paul says a sincere heart beats a spectacular ministry every time. From the radio call that chilled his blood, O-1 to Mr. Weatherby, to a bronc ride headed straight for a ditch full of watermelon-sized river rocks with the warden and the regional director watching, this is about the three responsibilities that come with the uniform and the authority. In this message: A sincere heart controlled by the love of Christ, not a spectacular ministry Stop seeing people from a human point of view, and stop doing it to yourself We speak for Christ, and the message is come back to God Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:12-21, Matthew 25:23 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. Shots Fired | Jesus' Own Man Week 2 | Save the Cowboy
2026/08/16
"Weatherby to 65. Shots fired, shots fired." Some calls are dangerous the minute they come in. That is week two of Jesus' Own Man. Kevin Weatherby rides Luke 10, where Jesus sends seventy-two ordinary folks out two by two as lambs among wolves, with no supplies and a message that fits in a shirt pocket: the Kingdom of God is near you now. From the day his dad heard gunshots over a prison radio to the morning the warden pulled up just to watch a bronc ride, this is about the dangerous mission Jesus sends His people on, and the victory He guarantees. In this message: The mission briefing: two by two, travel light, stay on task What do you call a herd of sheep in the spiritual realm? A pride of lions. The real victory: your name written in the book of life Scripture: Luke 10:1-20, John 1:29, Revelation 5:5, Matthew 7:15, Ephesians 6:10-11 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. Jesus' Own Man | Week 1 | Save the Cowboy
2026/08/09
In Rome, a legate was called Caesar's own man. He carried Caesar's power and authority into every room he walked into. That is week one of Jesus' Own Man. Kevin Weatherby opens the series in Zechariah 3, where a high priest stands in front of God in filthy clothes and gets handed a clean uniform he never earned. From seven years working inside a penitentiary to the day he held a loaded .357 on a man, this is about where power and authority actually come from, and the hard difference between wearing the uniform and wearing a costume. In this message: Where power and authority actually come from A legate was Caesar's own man, and what that makes you Uniform or costume: which one you are wearing Scripture: Zechariah 3, Ephesians 4:22-24 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. First Time: When You Did Nothing Wrong | Week 3 | Save the Cowboy
2026/08/02
Bucked off, breath knocked out, and trampled... when you did nothing wrong. A cowboy church sermon on how to get back on. Kevin Weatherby closes out the First Time? series with the first time life knocks you flat when you did everything right: the Big Lake barrel racing wreck, the world championship that got away, and the bronc riding that same day. Seven tips a cowboy uses to get back on. In this message: Getting bucked off when you did nothing wrong Seven tips to get back on, from "it'll quit hurting in a minute" to "show-ups, not show-offs" The wreck is never the end of the story Scripture: Psalm 34:18-19, Proverbs 24:16, 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. First Time: No One's Ever Ready the First Time | Week 2 | Save the Cowboy
2026/07/26
You keep waiting to feel ready. The hard call, the fresh start, the leap of faith. A cowboy church sermon for the working man who's figured out ready never comes. Kevin Weatherby picks the First Time? series back up at the ranch: being ready is an emotion, being equipped is a leap of faith. From Romans 8:28 to Ephesians 4:11-12, this is about the God who wasted none of your story and has been preparing and equipping you the whole climb. In this message: Why no one is ever ready the first time, and why that was never the question What God has already done with every mistake, wrong turn, and hard day you've had Prepared, equipped, and the leap of faith onto the fingerhold Scripture: Romans 8:28, Ephesians 4:11-12, Philippians 4:13, 2 Corinthians 5:7 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. First Time: The Edge of the Impossible | Week 1 | Save the Cowboy
2026/07/19
When life backs you up to the edge of what you can't do, the trial was never the cliff itself. It's the choice you make standing at the edge of it. A cowboy church sermon for working men who have been there. Kevin Weatherby opens the First Time? series with the trials that corner a man, and the God who meets him in them. From the prophet Elijah, worn down to nothing right after the biggest win of his life, to the still small voice that got him back on his feet, this is about trusting God when the ground runs out from under you. In this message: What a trial really is, and why it isn't the impossible thing standing in front of you Elijah at his lowest, and the still small voice that moved him again How to trust God and take the next step when you are at the edge Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:12, 1 Kings 19, John 10:27-28, John 14:6, James 1:12 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. Come to Me: Day One With Jesus | Week 3 | Save the Cowboy
2026/07/12
You don't have to have it all figured out to come to Jesus. Week 3 closes the Come to Me series on the easy yoke, and the plain truth that green isn't your problem, green is your ticket in. From Matthew 11:28-30, Kevin lands the series on what your first day with Jesus actually looks like: walking in green, knowing nothing, and getting taken in anyway. He tells his own first morning green on the San Pedro, and the town kid who read electric meters and asked for a cowboy job every month until he finally got the nod. In this message: The excuses that keep a man circling the gate instead of walking through it A yoke that's cut to fit and built for two, He carries the load with you God doesn't grade your misses. Come to Me: It's Simple. We Make It Hard. | Week 2 | Save the Cowboy
2026/07/05
Jesus says, "Come to me." And we say, "But I can't..." Jesus' whole invitation is three words, no qualifications, no fine print. So why do we keep making it hard? Week 2 of Come to Me rides through the parable of the Great Big BBQ in Luke 14, where every empty chair at the supper had a good-sounding excuse behind it: I bought some land, I bought five teams of oxen, I just got married. Kevin picks up the jet-ski cliffhanger from last week and lays out the excuses we still send back to God today. In this message: The instruction manual nobody reads, and what Jesus' instruction manual requires before you come to Him (nothing) Why we won't come to Jesus: I'm covered up, I've got to work, there's something more important You're not covered up. You're drowning. A good excuse is still a no, and once the supper starts, you're either in or you're out Scripture: Luke 14:15-24, Matthew 11:28, Matthew 14:30-31, Romans 8:32, Matthew 6:33 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org. Come to Me: Worn Smooth Out | Week 1 | Save the Cowboy
2026/06/28
You can get worn smooth out. Tired down to the rivets. And the first three words out of Jesus' mouth in Matthew 11 are the ones most folks skip right past on the way to the famous part: "Come to me." This week Kevin opens a brand new series, Come to Me (Week 1 of 3), and rides straight into the loads we keep packing on our own backs, loads God always meant to carry. In this message: Why the first three words of Matthew 11:28 matter more than the rest of the verse The burdens we keep hauling that were never ours to carry What "come to me" actually means when you are worn out A lake, a dog named Bane, and a Sunday night that ran long Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30 Grab this week's free 5-day Bible study at savethecowboy.org.
