Description

Reading the Bible shouldn't be a chore, it should be fun! Grab your cup of coffee and tune in to The Bible Explained podcast, where Jenn explains the Bible in a simplistic, approachable way. Launched in 2020, this podcast does not follow "the Bible in a year" format - it's more like "The Bible in a decade." Each weekday morning, you will hear Jenn read and discuss Scripture in a way that you (probably) have never experienced before. Touted by many listeners as "The best Bible-reading podcast out there," you won't regret tuning in, especially if you are looking to deepen your knowledge about the Bible. For coffee drinkers only. (Just kidding.) Jenn's goal is to present the Bible in a simplistic way using biblical cross-references, ancient history, and the Hebrew/Greek language. 2 Peter 1:1-11 - You're Invited to the Wedding Feast!
2026/10/15
Today, we start a brand new book of the Bible, where Peter gives us a list of virtues to work to in the Christian life:  Is Peter suggesting that works save us? Was Peter really the only person in Scripture to claim Jesus as "his God and Savior"? Peter reminds us the Christian walk is a process that we all have to learn. The parable of the wedding feast and the man who showed up without wedding clothes. Why did God throw him into the outer darkness? Job 5 - Twisted Truths and Terrible Comfort
2026/10/14
In this episode of The Bible Explained, Jenn continues through Eliphaz's speech in Job 5 and shows how true statements about God can become dangerous when they're misapplied to someone who is suffering: Eliphaz tells Job not to bother appealing to the holy ones. Is that really true? Does God answer people who bring Him their questions? Eliphaz claims he has seen the foolish crushed in the city gate and implies Job brought his suffering on himself. When we see somebody suffering, can we automatically assume they did something wrong? A fallen world, the defeat of Satan's false arguments, an example for future believers, and a war on the prosperity gospel. Jenn shares reasons God allowed Job to suffer that had nothing to do with sin. Paul actually quotes Eliphaz in 1 Corinthians 3. Some of the best lies out there are twisted truths, or truths that are misapplied. "Happy is the man whom God corrects" is a crazy thing to say to a man mourning in ashes. Discipline is never fun when it happens, but we shouldn't despise it. Join Jenn as she reminds us not to assume every single time that God is angry with us, and encourages us to ask Him to reveal why we're going through what we're going through.   If you want to support the Bible Explained: YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnh-aqfg8rw Ko-Fi - https://ko-fi.com/p40ministries  Website - https://www.p40ministries.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/p40ministries  Contact - [email protected]  Books - https://www.amazon.com/Jenn-Kokal/e/B095JCRNHY/ref=aufs_dp_fta_dsk  Merch - https://www.p40ministries.com/shop  YouVersion - https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/38267-out-of-the-mire-trusting-god-in-the-middle   Check out LifeAudio for other faith-based podcasts on parenting, studying Scripture, and more:www.lifeaudio.com   Need help memorizing Scripture? 1 Peter 5:6-14 - Yes, You Can Pray for Your Dog
2026/10/13
In this episode of The Bible Explained, Jenn finishes up 1 Peter 5 and talks about the humility, love, and prayer we're supposed to have for each other, and how we stand against Satan when he tries to devour us like a lion: What does it mean to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God? (In the Old Testament, God's mighty hand points to both punishment and deliverance.) Cast all your worries on Him because He cares for you. That means all of them, even the little ones! Jenn talks about drunkenness, recreational drugs, and medications when it comes to being sober and self-controlled.  Your adversary walks around like a roaring lion, but he also masquerades as an angel of light. Why we have to be watchful and discern every spirit. Stand steadfast in your faith and remember you are not alone. Like Elijah, there are faithful believers all over the world, even in "Babylon." Join Jenn as she reminds us that God cares deeply for us in our suffering, and that after a little while He will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us.   If you want to support the Bible Explained: YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnh-aqfg8rw Ko-Fi - https://ko-fi.com/p40ministries  Website - https://www.p40ministries.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/p40ministries  Contact - [email protected]  Books - https://www.amazon.com/Jenn-Kokal/e/B095JCRNHY/ref=aufs_dp_fta_dsk  Merch - https://www.p40ministries.com/shop  YouVersion - https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/38267-out-of-the-mire-trusting-god-in-the-middle   Check out LifeAudio for other faith-based podcasts on parenting, studying Scripture, and more:www.lifeaudio.com   Need help memorizing Scripture? Job 4 - How NOT to Comfort a Friend
2026/10/12
In this episode of The Bible Explained, Job's friend Eliphaz speaks up, and it's a masterclass in how NOT to comfort a friend: Eliphaz calls Job a hypocrite for helping others through suffering but falling apart when it's his turn. "Isn't your piety your confidence?" -  Why this is the prosperity gospel, and why the whole book of Job is a war against it. Eliphaz says God is quick to anger and strikes people down, but Psalm 103 says Yahweh is merciful, gracious, and slow to anger. A secret spirit visits Eliphaz in the night, and he can't discern what it is. How do we test the spirits? Do we perish without God ever regarding it? Jenn exposes the lies wrapped in a little bit of truth. Join Jenn as she reminds us that God isn't hidden or a secret. He's close, He's listening, and He cares deeply for you.   If you want to support the Bible Explained: YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnh-aqfg8rw Ko-Fi - https://ko-fi.com/p40ministries  Website - https://www.p40ministries.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/p40ministries  Contact - [email protected]  Books - https://www.amazon.com/Jenn-Kokal/e/B095JCRNHY/ref=aufs_dp_fta_dsk  Merch - https://www.p40ministries.com/shop  YouVersion - https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/38267-out-of-the-mire-trusting-god-in-the-middle   Check out LifeAudio for other faith-based podcasts on parenting, studying Scripture, and more:www.lifeaudio.com   Need help memorizing Scripture? 2026/10/06

Job 2 - (Part 1) Why Won't God Keep Good People from Suffering?
2026/09/30
The story of Job is a complex and thought-provoking one, full of questions and answers that challenge our understanding of God's character and our own place in the world as Christians. As we explore the book of Job, we're going to examine the age-old question: why do righteous people suffer? Satan comes to God with another accusation against Job, claiming that he's only worshiping God because he's scared of losing his life. Job's world is turned upside down and he's hit with one calamity after another. Why does God allow good people to suffer? Should He make all suffering go away? James says God's mercy and compassion are on full display in the story of Job. How can this be when most people think God is acting evil toward Job? If you're looking for a deeper understanding of the Bible and the complex questions it raises, this episode of The Bible Explained might help you think a little differently about suffering. 1 Peter 4:7-11 - Living a Life that Honors God
2026/09/29
The chapter is full of practical advice on how to live a life that honors God, from being of sound mind and self-controlled to serving one another with the gifts we've been given: Living with a sense of urgency, knowing that the end of all things is near. This doesn't just mean the second coming of Jesus, but also the fact that our own lives are short and can end at any moment. How we be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer. What it means that "love covers a multitude of sins." Does this mean we should be doormats or that God won't hold people who hurt us accountable? As Jenn wraps up the episode, she encourages listeners to take action by reading 1 Peter 4 and thinking about how they can implement it in their own lives. She also invites listeners to pray about how they can use their spiritual gifts to serve others and to encourage those around them.   Related Episode: James 3:1-12 - The Tongue is a Destructive Fire   There are so many other things P40 does! 2026/09/28
Job suffers a series of devastating losses, including the destruction of his possessions, family, and servants.  Why God would allow such suffering to not only Job, but Job's family and children. 1 Peter 4:1-6 - Dead to Self, Alive in Christ
2026/09/24
Peter's advice to the church is to suffer well and have endurance through persecution: The concept of suffering and sin, referencing Romans 6, where Paul says that those who have died to sin are no longer bound by it.  This doesn't mean Christians are sinless, but rather that they've died to their old selves and are made alive in Christ. Putting old sins to death is a daily process, requiring faith and obedience to Jesus. The importance of studying Jesus' life and falling in love with who He is, as this helps Christians understand how to please Him.   Related Episodes: Romans 6:1-14 (From Christ) - We Crucify Sin Luke 9:23-43 (From Christ) - Say "No" to People-Pleasing   Click all these links from P40: YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnh-aqfg8rw Ko-Fi - https://ko-fi.com/p40ministries  Website - https://www.p40ministries.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/p40ministries  Contact - [email protected]  Books - https://www.amazon.com/Jenn-Kokal/e/B095JCRNHY/ref=aufs_dp_fta_dsk  Merch - https://www.p40ministries.com/shop  YouVersion - https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/38267-out-of-the-mire-trusting-god-in-the-middle   Check out LifeAudio for other faith-based podcasts on parenting, studying Scripture, and more:www.lifeaudio.com   Need help memorizing Scripture? Job 1:1-5 - The Blameless Man Named Job
2026/09/21
It is time to explore the life of Job, a man described as blameless and upright, who suffers catastrophic loss despite his unwavering faith in God: Who was Job?
