KVMR News Special: Ask Ivy Meeropol
2026/09/05
Last month (August 2026) the U.S. Supreme Court denied President Donald Trump’s appeal to throw out a jury's initial $5 million dollar ruling in favor of writer and journalist E. Jean Carroll. The defamation case (one of two) stems from Trump's denial and subsequent degrading remarks about Carroll after she published her 2019 memoir What Do We Need Men For?. The book was the first time Carroll publicly described a mid-1990's New York City department store encounter in which Trump sexually assaulted her in the dressing rooms.
The documentary Ask E. Jean chronicles the court cases and what Carroll faced once the Trump revelations became public. The film is directed and produced by the award-winning filmmaker Ivy Meeropol. Meeropol spoke with KVMR for a special 30-minute conversation about documentary filmmaking, the trials sexual abuse survivors are expected to endure and the difficulties of seeking justice for victims.
The film will be screened at the Nevada Theater on Tuesday, September 8th with proceeds supporting Community Beyond Violence.
