We start off 2024 kinky! In this episode, Mikaella has a chat with her dear kinky friend Roan! Roan walks us through the basics for BDSM. Besides the whips and latex, what kind of practices does BDSM include? Is it exclusively sexual? Do you know what to expect and how do you negotiate what happens in a BDSM scene? About the hostess: Mikaella (she/her) comes from Cyprus. She is studying Psychology with a clinical direction as a Major and has Minor courses in English Language and Culture at the University of Groningen. She has been the Activity Coordinator of Let’s Talk About Sex Groningen (LTAS) since 2021. Her passion for sex education stems from the realization of how little proper [sex] education is provided by our physical environments and how much shame is ingrained into us for our sexuality and sexual expression. With this podcast, she aims to give voices to local students and experts to fight this reality and start meaningful conversations!

In the fourth episode of The Local Sex Shop Podcast we tackle a complex topic: Racial fetishization and dating. The dating landscape in The Netherlands is quite ethnically diverse. However, that doesn’t stop racial biases from sipping into our consciousness. Today’s guest, Momo, speaks on her experiences as a black non-binary woman from the UK. What are some stereotypes she has come across in everyday life and dating? Where do they come from and how are they maintained? What are the unbelievable messages she has received on dating apps? De herfst is in volle gang, de temperatuur daalt langzaam en dus zijn de schaatsers alweer fanatiek hun wedstrijden aan het rijden. Zo ook Daan en Evi Gelling. Broer en zus Gelling zijn beiden actief in de Topdivisie van het marathonschaatsen en studeren daarnaast aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Daan studeert Spatial Planning and Design, Evi Life Science and Technology. In deze aflevering van de Topsportcast vertellen Daan en Evi hoe zij hun sport combineren met studeren aan de RUG en gaat het natuurlijk ook over hun sportieve prestaties op het ijs.

Voor shorttracker Teun Boer, student Commerciële Economie op de Johan Cruyff Academy van de Hanzehogeschool, begon het schaatsseizoen mooi met twee Nederlandse titels die hij behaalde in Leeuwarden. In deze topsportcast kijkt Teun terug op het NK en vertelt hij hoe hij zijn studie combineert met een druk leven als topsporter.  Daarnaast komen ook RUG-topsportstudenten Niels Kingma en Daan Kos aan het woord. Niels en Daan kwamen net als Teun in actie op het Nederlands kampioenschap shorttrack en werden onlangs gehuldigd op het Sportcentrum van de Zernike Campus voor het winnen van een bronzen medaille tijdens de World University Games Winter, begin dit jaar in het Amerikaanse Lake Placid. Ook dit studiejaar verschijnen er weer Topsportcasts waarin topsportstudenten van de RUG en de Hanze vertellen hoe zij topsport combineren met een studie. Waar ze tegenaan lopen, in hoeverre ze worden geholpen door de onderwijsinstellingen om zo optimaal mogelijk hun sport te kunnen beoefenen en natuurlijk hoe het ze sportief vergaat.

The third episode of The Local Sex Shop is all about men! Mikaella and her guest, Cameron, have a very personal discussion on male experiences. Nothing is left behind, as this discussion includes gender stereotypes starting in childhood and expectations of masculinity during puberty leading to relationship expectations into adulthood. Along the way they talk about the gay scene, male body image, men’s ability to communicate and discover their sexualities, myths and prejudices about gay men, sexual violence towards men, online and in-person dating and pornography. Hanze Honours student Nhi present the Honours SBMF Podcast on the topic of reverse culture shock and the feeling of belonging to reflect her vision on National Gross Happiness. In this episode, she invites Syrian Dr. Ahmad Alban,  who has moved from one country to another for work, and Jiska, an IBS student at Hanze who moved to Norway when she was four then moved back to the Netherlands after six years. They have experienced different cultures and are considered "international citizens". The conversation showcases their experience on moving to different countries while trying to keep in touch with their root cultures, as well as its influence on their life.

In deze aflevering van de Topsportcast komen twee kampioenen en een bekerwinnaar aan het woord. Rixt van der Wal en Rosa Entius volgen beide een studie aan de Hanzehogeschool en volleyballen bij Friso Sneek. Met Sneek vierden Rixt en Rosa onlangs het landskampioenschap door in een spannende finale van de play-offs te winnen van Utrecht.In de Topsportcast kijken Rixt en Rosa terug op het vieren van de landstitel, vertellen ze hoe ze studeren aan de Hanze combineren met hun sport en blikken ze vooruit op een mogelijk WK in Mexico met Jong Oranje.Daarnaast is er een gesprek met Marit Auée. De studente Bewegingswetenschappen aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen won dit jaar de KNVB Beker met FC Twente door in de eindstrijd met 4-0 te winnen van PSV.Ook dit studiejaar verschijnen weer Topsportcasts waarin topsportstudenten van de RUG en de Hanze vertellen hoe zij topsport combineren met een studie. Waar ze tegenaan lopen, in hoeverre ze worden geholpen door de onderwijsinstellingen om zo optimaal mogelijk hun sport te kunnen beoefenen en natuurlijk hoe hun sportieve prestaties zijn.

Deze maand heeft Cas het over de struggles om alle zaakjes draaiende te houden. Over the grind of de sleur, zoals dat heet. Wat doe je als het even tegen zit? Maar hij is niet enkel cynisch, hij is ook chagrijnig. Nee, optimistisch. In deze aflevering heeft Cas het over dwangmatige positivisme en burn-outs, over de Amerikaanse geld-goeroes wiens boeken hij heeft gelezen, en de zin en onzin daarvan. Over oosterse wijsheden die balans brengen in ons jachtige leven. En over klinkerpaadjes leggen. Eh, nee dat laatste niet. Maar wel over budgetteren.

Cas is afgestudeerd aan de Hanze en wordt nu geconfronteerd met zijn grote studieschuld.  Is snel je studieschuld aflossen dan verstandig? De afgelopen maand ben ik gaan berekenen of het nu echt verstandig is om zo snel mogelijk schuldenvrij te zijn. Het antwoord zal je wellicht verbazen: nee. Deze aflevering belicht ik waarom dat zo is. Ik neem je mee aan de hand van een paar rekenvoorbeelden om dit helder te maken. Betekent het dan einde verhaal? Dat we gewoon maar weer achterover leunen net als voorheen? Dat zeker niet. Deze maand ben ik ook gaan kijken of ik meer inkomsten kan genereren en of ik meer kan besparen. Maar waarom zou je dat nog doen als versneld aflossen niet slim is? Ook dat leg ik je uit in deze aflevering. Want dat er iets moet veranderen aan de manier waarop ik met geld omga, dat is duidelijk. Dus: geen YOLO, maar plannen voor de toekomst in aflevering 3 van #welmijnschuld.

Hoe kan Cas zijn enorme studieschuld wegwerken? Hij checkt in zijn tweede podcast of de methodes van Maaike Wind en enkele Amerikaanse goeroes werken voor hem. In deze aflevering bespreek ik de wijsheden van Maaike Wind. Wat heb ik van haar geleerd en wat kan ik ermee? Maaike heeft een tijdlang haar hoofd in het zand gestoken voordat ze het actie ondernam. Daarna heeft ze alles in het teken gezet van zo snel mogelijk aflossen. Schuldenvrij zijn. Dus zij kan mij de nodige tips en tricks leren om zuiniger te leven en sneller af te lossen. Daarnaast bespreek ik financiële goeroe Dave Ramsey en andere ‘levensverbeteraars’ die je op onder andere Youtube kan vinden. Wat is hun meerwaarde en waarom? De nieuwe inzichten spiegel ik met wat anekdotes uit mijn omgeving, om tot een conclusie te komen wat het beste is in mijn situatie. Er zijn meerdere strategieën om zo slim mogelijk af te lossen. Zoveel is me duidelijk geworden. Ook breng ik je natuurlijk op de hoogte over wat ik de afgelopen maand zelf gedaan heb, wat betreft aflossen en financiën. En hoe dit mij bezig heeft gehouden.
