The Eagles should be working out as much as possible as a team.  They shouldn't be hitting, but they should running their offense and competing with their defense, but without any tackling.   Nobody would be wearing equipment, but they need to get the timing in sync on every route and every play.  It takes repetition to get the team prepared.  I don't like the fact that the team is taking this time off. 

The Eagles offense was poor in the red zone after the Jalen Hurts to Quez Watkins 91 yard pass and catch.  The defense left Niners wide receiver Jauan Jennings by himself in the red zone for an easy score.  The poor red zone play cost them the game. 

I think both the Eagles and the Niners will both be able to move the ball effectively.  It's going to be a high scoring game.  I have the Eagles winning 27 to 24, but it could be higher.  I wouldn't be surprised if both team get into the 30's. 

The Niners secondary has been depleted by injuries, so the Eagles wide receivers and tight ends will be open.   The Birds will be able to throw the ball.  They can also run the ball against the Niners because their defensive linemen are always flying upfield at the snap of the ball and trying to get to the quarterback.   The Eagles will be able to move the ball against the Niners on the ground and through the air, but they must avoid turnovers.  Jordan Mailata must handle Nick Bosa.  Lane Johnson must handle Arik Armstead and Dee Ford and not allow them to pressure and sack Hurts and cause a turnovers..  Quarterback Jalen Hurts must keep two hands on the football, when he drops into the pocket.  They must avoid turnovers.  

Fletcher Cox had zero tackles, zero assists and zero sacks in the game against the Atlanta Falcons.  That makes you ask the question of whether he is giving his best effort or not.  I checked out the tape and Cox is being double-teamed.   That is opening up opportunities for his teammates, but Fletcher shouldn't be taking those plays off.  He needs to attack one of the O linemen blocking him in the same way Aaron Donald of the Rams does.  Fletcher is so powerful he can attack one of the offensive linemen, blow him back and still be a factor in the play. I understand that he will get tired at times.  That's fine, but he shouldn't be taking plays off.  He almost got a couple of sacks in that game.  He's still a great player and he should give the team all he has when he's on the field. 

The Eagles won the battle upfront on both sides of the ball, but the defense didn’t start out that way.  Jalen Hurts and Jason Kielce stood on the offense and Javon Hargrave, Hassan Ridgeway and Josh Sweat on the defense.  Punter Arryn Siposs got the award for Special Teams.

The Eagles won the game in the Red Zone.  Head Coach Nick Sirianni did a great job of designing scoring plays when the Birds got near the end zone. 

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and starting quarterback Jalen Hurts led the Birds to a dominating 32 to 6 win over the Atlanta Falcons.  The Birds defense started out slow but stopped the Falcons from scoring touchdowns on two long drives then the offense took it from there in the outstanding victory.

The key matchup when the Eagles have the ball will be between Falcons veteran defensive coordinator Dean Pees and Birds quarterback Jalen Hurts.   Pees will try to confuse Hurts with an extensive number of defensive looks.  Hurts must keep his composure and make sure to take care of the football.  

Let's talk about the key matchup when the Falcons have the ball.  I know you might think the key matchup is Eagles CB Darius Slay and Falcons WR Calvin Ridley.   Instead the key will be the interior of the Falcons offensive line center Matt Hennesy and guards Chris Lindstrom and Jalen Mayfield versus the Eagles defensive tackles Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave.  The Eagles should dominate this matchup!!!

The Eagles offense will be able to run the football and throw the ball effectively, but they must execute in the red zone.   Of course the key will be Jalen Hurts and his fundamentals.  He must give each pass play a chance by keeping his eyes downfield before pulling the ball down and scrambling. The Eagles defensive line must put pressure on Matt Ryan or he will totally pick apart their secondary.  Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett and most especially Josh Sweat must get pressure on Ryan. I think this will be a close game and the team that executes best in the red zone will win it.    

First of all, the Eagles defensive line must get quick pressure on Matt Ryan.  He's got experience, a good arm and plenty of weapons.  If the Birds don't get to him and make him move off his spot, they're probably going to start the season with a loss. Fletcher Cox will be double-teamed, so Javon Hargrave must show up.  He's the key to this game.  If he doesn't dominate I don't think the Birds will win.  The offense should be able to move the ball against this poor Falcons defense.  They've got to run the ball effectively, which means the offensive line should kick butt.  I think they will.   The offense key for the Birds will be young quarterback Jalen Hurts.  He  must play smart and stay away from turnovers.  He's going to have opportunities to make big plays, but he can't try to force things. The Eagles must score touchdowns in the red zone.  We're going to see how good of a play designer Nick Sirianni is because he must utilize Hurts' running ability in the red zone to get in the end zone.  Focus on the design of the offensive plays in the red zone.  It will tell you a lot about how good Sirianni is as an offensive coach. The Eagles have their work cut out for them.  I'm picking them to win, but I don't really know how good this team will be this year, especially early in the season.
