What do you think of when you think of a smart person? What qualifies someone to be smart? Is it the bookish person who is really good at "school"? Is it the nerdy guy who knows everything about computers? Is that the only view when it comes to "smartness"? Fortunately, no! Today Ginger reflects on Dr. Kathy Koch's book "8 Great Smarts" and offers a refreshing look at smartness. Everyone is smart! The beauty of home education is that we can tailor learning so that each child (and parent) can learn according to their smarts. Listen in for a breath of fresh air! Is Latin really worth your time—or is it an outdated subject with little practical value in today’s world? In this episode, Ro takes an honest look at one of the most debated topics in education. From the claim that Latin is a “dead language” to the argument that it’s one of the most powerful tools for developing strong thinkers, we unpack both sides. We also address the real concerns—time, relevance, and opportunity cost—and help you determine whether Latin aligns with your goals for your child and your homeschool. If you’re trying to balance rigor with rhythm, depth with capacity, and long-term formation with everyday practicality… this conversation is for you.
