He has two failed relationships under his belt, has seen some sh*t and has a secret that only one other person knows about. When Sam starts looking to get serious with his girlfriend Eileen, Dean needs to find a new place to live. Enter Castiel Novak and The Ddraig, a former hotel. Cas is looking for a house mate who will get to live rent free if they can help out with his insane toenails. Dean can’t quite believe the offer but agrees to move in with Cas, impossible toenails and all. However, both Dean and Cas soon learn that neither is all that they seem.  Dragon Hunt by peanutbutterjelly_pie (00:38:00)Published in 2020, 172k words, E What is a former knight fallen from grace supposed to do when one day, after almost a decade of scouring the outskirts of the kingdom for his missing brother, he finds himself confronted with a powerful, terrifying and also ridiculously weird dragon? Yes, exactly: team up with the guy and scam oblivious people out of their money! Easy as that, right? + (In which Dean ends up stumbling upon a strange, blue-eyed dragon and before he even knows what’s happening he is in way too deep to get out again.  The Mysterious Tail of the Dragon’s Curse by adaille and Alessariel (00:48:00)Published in 2020, 21k words, E Life as a cursed prince isn’t all bad. At least Castiel has plenty of fresh air, more freedom than he’s ever experienced at court, and he gets to see his childhood sweetheart, even if it’s always from afar. Life as a part-time dragon is really pretty tolerable—until it isn’t. A moment of carelessness brings disaster and misunderstandings, but also a chance for reunion. A very NSFW fairytale in which Castiel is a dragon, Dean hates potatoes and Father Zachariah (a lot), and Castiel’s magically acquired body parts play a vital role. * * * It’s been three weeks, four days, and a little over six hours since Castiel last saw Dean. And it‘s been three years, four months, six days, and three hours since Castiel last saw Dean with human eyes.  Belonging To by Hans_On (00:58:00)Published in 2023, 7285 words, T Dean was just your above-average adventurer, looking for a dragon to slay for its hoard of treasure. Now, he’s not sure how to feel seeing the pint-sized dragon trying to drag its single shiny coin with it, as it runs away from him. Soon, he finds himself visiting the dragon’s lair, giving it gifts as treasure instead of taking. People think he’s crazy for doing it, especially since dragons have proprietorial issues. A/U from mid season 9. Castiel is human and wounded, and Dean and Sam need to get his grace back – and his wings. Things do not go as intended and Cas faces a difficult road. Long case fic with strong emphasis on Team Free Will friendship/family bonds. Will get serious and angsty and lonely. ALERT: There will be two versions of this fic, Destiel and platonic. This version (Flight) is the Destiel version. Slow build and mostly pre-Destiel. The platonic version will be called Broken and will be posted later. Broken (platonic version of Flight) (170k words but incomplete, T) What’s a Little Dying Between Friends? by carnationqueen (00:39:10)Published in April 2023, 27k words, T Castiel – stabbed by Ramiel with Michael’s lance, is dying. Slowly. It will take days, maybe weeks, but die he will. It is, apparently, inevitable. Neither Dean, Sam, or Rowena can find a way to save him. They’ve tried everything. Crowley hopes a slow motion, inevitable death may make Dean and Castiel remove their heads from their collective asses because really. Everyone is over it. He’s a bit smug after all, having Lucifer as his prisoner, and is feeling a bit magnanimous in his hubris. Will impending death make Dean examine how he feels a bit more honestly?Bring tissues. On Drowning by domesticadventures (00:52:50) Published in 2015, 29k words, T The absolute last thing Dean would ever admit, after saving Cas’ life, is that it was all thanks to the unhealthy amount of time he spent reading about drowning on Wikipedia. Not that he’s not grateful, but what he really needs is an instruction manual for everything that comes after. Lights by LoversAntiquities (01:05:37)Published in 2018, 2671 words, M Dean can’t breathe. Try as he might, he hasn’t been able to suck in a deep breath in the past hour, not with bruised ribs and the associated pain. Blood continues to drip from his nose and eardrum, probably busted. With shaking hands, he struggles to wipe it away, his attempts all in vain; the motel will probably hate him after he leaves, whenever that is. The least his father could’ve done was leave a note, a map—something telling him where he was, not just dumping him in a nondescript location with a collection of gashes and bruises he can’t even treat, not by himself. They’re behind on bills and can’t climb out of the hole of debt they’ve found themselves in. The night of their ten-year high school reunion, they find the water and heat shut off in their apartment. What’s worse, is that at their ten-year reunion, they’re reminded of how far they could have gone and how little they’ve done with their lives. But, a chance encounter with a pornstar gets Dean’s brain working. What if the answer to all their financial issues is making their porno? Together, Dean and Cas, along with their friends Ash and Charlie, set off to make a porno. However, as Dean and Cas know all too well, luck is never on their side. With cast and crew, a great script, and support and encouragement, everything seems to goes smoothly. Until Dean and Cas realize they’ve caught feels for each other. Will their sex scene ruin twenty plus years of friendship? Or will it be the catalyst to something more? Fallout: Supernatural by insominia and MaggieMaybe160 [00:32:00]Published for SPN Media Big Bang 2021, 50k words, EArt by GioBased on the Fallout video game series Castiel has one job, and that is to deliver a package to The Strip. Unfortunately, after finding Dean Winchester in the mouth of a dinosaur, what should have taken a few days has taken months. What started as a partnership of circumstance becomes fueled with untold feelings. But to find any kind of happily ever after, Cas and Dean have to push the NCR, demons, and angels from the Mojave Wasteland. Revelation 13 by fullvoid [00:45:07]Published in 2022,44k words, E (read the tags)Art by Hitori AlouetteBased on Silent Hill 4 It’s Dean’s day off, and he’d like to spend it how he always does—by kicking his feet up with a cold one and watching soap operas—not by discovering an enormous, creepy hole in his bathroom wall that definitely wasn’t there when he went to bed last night. But it’s no big deal. He can just patch it up and still devote plenty of time to Dr. Sexy afterward. There is only one problem. He can’t leave his apartment, and there’s a message on his front door written in…is that blood? And why is it signed by someone named “Cas”? Things can only get better from here, right? The Best Judge of Happiness by tsujiharu [01:03:19]Published for SPNMBB 2023, 72k words, TBased on Emma by Jane Austen Dean Winchester lives a simple life in the small town of Oakridge. Life in town isn’t the most exciting, but it’s home. Dean has his friends and his family, and he’s long learned to be content with simple, mundane, and fine. When a fresh face moves into town, Dean takes it upon himself to introduce the awkward, but devastatingly handsome Castiel to their small community. Castiel seems a little naive, and Dean knows he’s just the person to steer Castiel in the right direction. What he doesn’t expect is for Castiel’s arrival to shake up his monotonous days, and to open his heart back up to long-lost passions and the possibility of something more. Based on the movie Emma (2020), a reimagined SPN/Emma fusion with a twist… what if Emma ends up with Harriet instead? The corner of his mouth is tilted in a smug smile. “Something very good.” “Oh yeah?” Dean’s fingers are tingling. Are his fingers supposed to be tingling? “Yes,” Cas says again. His smile turns endearingly shy as he adds: “It seems I can’t stop thinking about kissing you, even when I’m asleep.” every light he cannot see by intothesilentland (01:07:50)Published in 2021, 8500 words, Not ratedArt by keylimedean Here in Purgatory, Castiel cannot keep his true form tethered to his vessel. He’s a beacon of light for monsters to flock toward, he’s a danger to those around him—especially Dean—and with each passing day, he has less and less hope of making it through a gateway back to earth, a gateway designed for humans. But if he can take Dean safely there, he will—all the while hiding his true form from a human he knows will be disgusted by it. After all, Castiel has always been willing to bleed for Dean. And he bleeds, and he bleeds, and he bleeds. A Constellation of Wishes by Destina (01:02:00)Published in 2022, 8500 words, E Dean builds a little house in Heaven, because it’s easier than saying what he feels. Await further instructions.’ Castiel doesn’t mind working security duty; he was briefed shortly after the initial salvation of the Sword from the pit, and again before taking up his position. He knows what to do. However, it’s easy to forget that the green room isn’t real. Growing up together, the two friends’ worlds revolved around one another, each of them looking forward to their annual summer get togethers at the Winchesters’ farm and winery, located in the rolling hills of Napa, California. However, it only takes one night for seventeen years of friendship to all come crashing down. When Castiel confesses his feelings for Dean, his friend’s rancorous reaction sends him packing. Castiel leaves, and stays away for ten years. When Dean’s father John falls ill, Castiel begrudgingly visits the farm again for the first time in a decade. Castiel is nervous to relive that night. He is nervous to be back at a place that holds so many memories. He is nervous to see Dean for the first time in so long. While he grapples with his anger and hurt, he also has to grapple with the fact that the feelings he holds for Dean may still be there after all this time. Closing Time by CasloveshisfrecklesPublished in 2017 for DCBB, 69k words, EArt by keylimedeanSeries with 4 works Dean Winchester’s college years felt like the greatest of his life: School came easy, he was the starting first baseman for the KU Jayhawks and he was in love with the smartest, nerdiest, hottest guy in school, who also happened to be his roommate. They were the definition of Relationship Goals. Until they weren’t. Until Cas left. If you asked Castiel Novak why he was back in Lawrence after 10 years, he’d tell you it was because of a great job opportunity. If you knew Castiel, you’d know it was because of Dean Winchester. But Dean had moved on, successfully running his bar, brewing his own beer, tattooed and still the most gorgeous man Castiel had ever laid eyes on. Oh and? He was taken. Dean wants to, but forgiving Cas isn’t easy, and finding their way back to each other after all this time is like searching for a hand in the dark. Sometimes, ten years is ten years too late. The Seraph and the Frog by goldenraeofsunPublished in 2021, 12k words, T Armed with his growing stack of parenting books, Cas raises Jack in North Cove, Washington, alone. He hasn’t heard from angels, demons or Winchesters in six months. By all measures, Jack is a happy and healthy baby, if a little lonely. So when he befriends a frog who wanders in from the lake, Cas can hardly object. Dean and Sam are stagecoach messengers for Wells, Fargo and Castiel is the town doctor. When Castiel’s patient, Kelly Kline, knocks on their door one night about to give birth, she asks for the Winchesters and Castiel’s help in protecting her son against one of the west’s most notorious outlaws. To fulfill that promise, the men set out on a journey full of shootouts, trouble with the law, gambling, and an important discovery: Dean and Castiel really need to define the nature of their relationship. Wheat Fields and Jars of Light by violue (39:22)Published for Dean/Cas Reverse Bang 2018, 16k works, E It’s the mid-1880s. Grieving the loss of his twin brother, Castiel Novak is on a journey across Kansas to search for those responsible for his death. By horse, by carriage, by foot, he won’t stop until he’s hunted them down and gotten his revenge. What he finds, though, is that nothing in the world is quite what he thought it was. West series by Xela (33:13)Published in 2012, 6255 words over 5 works, range from G to E Summary for Once Upon A Time in the West: “We goin’?” Sam asked, coming up beside him. He sounded bored, like Dean’s answer didn’t matter, but his eyes were sharp and knowing. They’d walk through hell and back for each other. Stupid didn’t even give them pause. Something Like a Broken Heart by RhymePhile (59:45)Published in 2009, 12k, M Dean Winchester is a Texas Ranger traveling to the town of Fort Griffin Flat, Texas, to rendezvous with the rest of his company when he meets Castiel, a prostitute in town. Answer to the AU Fusion Challenge prompt #20 in which whreflections asked to see Something in which Dean is a Texas cowboy who somehow meets Cas, a cheap prostitute scraping out a living in the worst part of town. Dean’s not even into guys, but he runs into Cas a few times and eventually ends up saving him from a dangerous customer, and somehow, Dean finds his mind changing without his consent after that. Hunters Caress by Ltleflrt (46:19)Published 2019, 161k, E Castiel Jameson won’t rest until the outlaw who murdered his brother faces justice, and Dean Winchester is the only man alive who can help him track the villain down. Some say Winchester is a cold-blooded killer himself; others say he’d been wronged his whole life. All Castiel knows is that the desire glinting in Dean’s green eyes is even more dangerous than he is. Castiel fights to keep his mind on business, but during the long nights on the trail with the dangerously handsome hunter he finds himself dreaming of yielding to Dean’s illicit kisses and losing himself in lawless passion. Dean Winchester is about to hang when Castiel saves his neck with his crazy plan. But dying might be better than spending day and night playing nursemaid to such an infuriating city slicker. He appreciates the stubborn detective’s desire for justice, but he’d appreciate Cas a lot more if he’d stop being a lawman long enough to just be a man. He certainly has all the right equipment. Dean aches to run his fingers through Castiel’s dark hair, yearns to know how Castiel’s golden skin will feel against him. And before the coming of the next dawn, Dean vows to teach him the pleasures and sweet rewards of a Hunter’s Caress. A man, his would-be lover/platonicish life partner, and two of his ex-hook-ups walk into a bar. Only Dean is struggling to find the punchline. When Claire’s car breaks down, Dean and Cas interrupt their semi-retired life to meet up with a local hunter in need of back-up. Unfortunately for Dean, they’re meeting up in a dive bar that just happens to be the local haunt of his ex, Rhonda Hurley. Even worse, Cas and Claire neglected to mention the hunter they’re meeting is Annie Hawkins, one time lover to Dean (not to mention Sam and Bobby). But that’s okay, because Dean figures they’ll get the details of the case and head out. What he doesn’t know is the monster is targeting women, and may be specifically going after women who are into, well, women. So they need Annie AND she needs a girlfriend for this to work. Enter Rhonda Hurley, looking to get out of town and willing to play fake girlfriend for awhile to help her old friend. And it isn’t like Dean can send a civilian and a hunter he had to bury once into a dangerous situation alone. So it looks like they’re all headed on an awkward family vacation. Full Fathom Five Thy Father Lies by Ariasune [00:30:10]Published for DCRB 2023, 14k works, TArt by mangonatural “Look, Charlie thinks the Men of Letters have something that can help you actually, you know, find this monster.” “Good,” Dean licks at his thumb to get the last of the chicken salt clean. “Cause right now it seems like we’ve got a monster that’s some 20, 000 leagues under the sea…” He stops. “This isn’t some 20, 000 leagues shit is it?” “It’s a submarine, actually.” F**k, that sounds like a yes. everyone knows the year doesn’t start until april by fleeceframe [00:42:48]Published in 2023, 21k words, M Dean had said, “I’m right there with you, I don’t like loud noises either. I mean, being afraid of loud noises is a good thing, though. It’s just your body telling you something big is happening and that you might need to get somewhere safe. Is that what happened on Tuesday when all the lockers went crazy?” A pause. “Did you see anything that seemed weird, or did you make yourself safe in one of the rooms?” And it struck Castiel then how Dean phrased that. How he didn’t say Did you hide? as in Did you run away? as in Were you not brave enough of a little soldier to stay and figure out just what was trying to hurt you? He had said- Did you make yourself safe? or the one where dean and cas are investigating a haunting in an elementary school, things are still new between them, and cas has more love than he knows what to do with That Black Dog Ache by SaltyWords (agent4hire22, aka winchester-reload) [00:56:11]Published 2016, 28k, E A simple case turns Dean upside down as he attempts to deal with the effects of a particularly strange love spell. And he wants. Crowley is quick to sink in his hooks and get a Winchester on his side. Sam is determined to get his brother back, to save him no matter the cost, but Castiel isn’t sure Dean wants to be saved. That life isn’t for him. But after years of being away from his brother and withering his own life away at his monotonous, soul-sucking job, Dean finds himself caving to Sammy’s pleas, accepting a job offer he can’t refuse, and boarding a plane to the exotic island. It’s nothing like Dean could have ever imagined, full of vibrant life and color, foods he’s never heard of, and animals he’s never seen. It’s a tropical paradise… a paradise that becomes a hell of a lot more interesting when a dark haired, blue-eyed commune native catches his eye. After a rather upsetting first meeting with the grumpy stranger, Dean must continue to navigate life on the island, his new career as the school’s music teacher, and the ultimate feat of dislodging his foot from his very big mouth. With a community of characters as familiar as his brother and as wild as a capuchin monkey with a flair for mischief, Dean will discover that maybe it wasn’t just Sam’s life that needed a reboot. Still, the question remains; will Dean be able to win over Casa Nova’s most reclusive resident? He’s living a life of decadence, but he can’t come up with inspiration for their next album, and they’re supposed to be back in the studio in a matter of weeks. It’s no secret that The Garrison’s music is mostly about Castiel’s sex life, and the man experiments in lovemaking as often as he does with the band’s sound. Now, Cas needs a new sexual experience to inspire his music. Dean Winchester is a Mixed Martial Artist with a reputation for being able to take a hard hit and being able to deliver an even harder one. Having a fight in Vegas is surreal for the Kansas native. Being propositioned by a rock star after the fight is equally surreal. First of all, Castiel is decidedly male with a reputation with the ladies as sordid as Dean’s own. Second, his proposition to be at Dean’s mercy in the bedroom is as ridiculous as it is intriguing. I like the idea of the guy that Dean is falling for/having sex with having this whole other life and trying to hide it from Dean” Or, The one where Dean falls for fellow student Cas, who’s so much more than first perceived. Will Dean be able to live with the secret once revealed, or will it doom them both? Better Than Revenge by castielslostwingsPublished 2021, 147k works, E Dean Winchester is #blessed. He’s got a great family, a million followers on social media, ad endorsements coming out of his extremely fine omega ass, and he’s about to graduate with a hard-won Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering. Said degree is an escape hatch to the life he craves, away from the scripted roles his well-meaning father keeps trying to corral him into. Dean’s a lot of things, but he’s not cut out to be a Don—or to fall in love. Castiel Krushnic is a ruthless, hardened alpha underboss for the Russian Mafia and his only soft spot is for his daughter. When she’s sent away to the U.S. in hopes of a better life, Castiel follows, reluctantly moving a chunk of the operation with him. His marching orders are clear—first order of business is to send a message to John Winchester, Don of the enemy local syndicate. The easiest way to do that? Use his son. Sounds easy, but Castiel wasn’t expecting to fall head-over-heels, or for Dean to want him back. What’s an alpha to do when a beautiful omega and an unorthodox mob boss have him questioning everything, abandoning his past and all of its pain for something much better than revenge? Russian to the Altar by MalMusesPublished 2019, 144k words, E “I need you to marry Castiel.” They weren’t the words Dean expected to hear from his business partner’s mouth before their bakery-slash-chocolate shop opened for the day. He’d been quite happy being single—and who the f**k was Castiel, anyway? It turned out that Castiel was a Russian erotic novelist in need of a ticket to America, and Dean… well, Dean was a last resort.
