The church is the strong city whose Savior and refuge is the LORD. Isaiah 26:4 (ESV) - Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.

This poem describes a stump sprouting new life and producing fruit that will fill the whole earth with peace. As the description of the shoot/branch/root grows out of normal proportions, we realize that it describes the coming Messiah, whom we know to be Jesus, the only salvation for the nations.

Isaiah sang a love song about an unfruitful vineyard on whom its owner had lavished great care. It turned out to be a parable about Israel's unfruitfulness, which led to the arrival of Jesus as the true and fruitful Israel. United to him, Christians are like branches that have everything necessary to produce much fruit.

Although Isaiah‘s call to be a prophet was unique, it also was an experience that everyone should have with the Lord of being undone by his holiness and cleansed by his grace.

The Lord desires worship in spirit and truth. He calls wayward sinners to repentance and cleansing of their sins through the blood of Jesus.

In the New Testament, as in the Old, the people of God were led by elders who were selected from among the people.

Christians united to a church are not only members of Christ and the church but also of each other.

Pastor Chris expounded on the topic of the Lord's Day and showed that it is God's holy day for rest and worship in honor of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A Biblical case for church membership

As he does in different ways throughout history, God has made the Church his people and his dwelling place.

The Proverbs offer us wisdom on relationships with friends, enemies, neighbors, and the poor.

Although the whole book of Proverbs is instruction for children, it also contains practical instruction for parents about how to raise their children wisely.

The Proverbs are both idealistic and realistic about marriage, showing us how it should be and helping us to get there.

While wealth comes from generosity, diligence, and careful living, it has its limitations and dangers but can be used to create eternal wealth for ourselves and others.

Proverbs warns Christians about the dangers of drunkenness and gluttony and instructs us to have self-control. Ultimately, Christ in his perfect self-control accomplished our salvation.
