Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
2026/04/06
Life doesn’t always move in a straight line—but that doesn’t mean you’re not making
progress.
In this episode, I share a real moment of setbacks, faith, and the long wait during the visa
process—and why even the difficult parts may be leading somewhere meaningful.
If you’re feeling stuck, this is your reminder: keep going.

Life cann change in a moment
2026/03/23
Life can change in a moment — through people who show up, and through moments that remind us how fragile life really is.
In this episode, Scott shares two powerful real-life experiences: one where Max helped him continue the CR-1 visa journey, and another where Carla helped create a path forward through income and opportunity.
At the same time, the sudden loss of a friend brings everything into perspective — reminding us to appreciate the people in our lives and to say what matters while we still can.
Inspired by real-life experiences and themes from My Book: A New Sunrise, by Scott Coons this episode is about gratitude, loss, and living with intention.

working the way you hoped. Scott shares a personal moment where a message from a close
friend helped him step back and see his work, his writing, and his life from a different
perspective. The conversation reflects on discouragement, adjusting course, and continuing
forward without pretending everything has a perfect ending. If this story resonates with you, you can read more of the journey in my book:

Chapter 3– Building Momentum
2026/03/09
A podcast about overcoming depression, rebuilding momentum, and finding purpose one small step at a time.Momentum doesn’t always come from big breakthroughs.
Sometimes it starts with something simple—two cups of coffee, turning on the computer,
and deciding to begin.
In this episode, Scott talks about how small daily actions can rebuild confidence and create
forward motion. Progress doesn’t have to be dramatic.
Sometimes the most important step is just starting again.

Chapter 2– Game On: The Sunrise That Changed Everything
2026/03/03
Chapter 2 marks the true turning point in Scott Coons’ journey.
After a year-long battle with cancer that took his brother’s life in
Buffalo, and the end of a long relationship just months later, Scott found
himself navigating grief stacked on top of grief. What followed were
years of quiet rebuilding.
Everything shifted when he committed to a three-month growth
program — a decision that led to launching his first podcast and
reclaiming his momentum.
This chapter explores loss, pride, purpose, and the sunrise that
symbolized choosing forward motion.

Chapter 1- Chasing a New Sunrise
2026/02/27
Before Thailand. Before marriage. Before starting over across
oceans — there was a motorcycle and a decision.
In this opening chapter, I share the moment I left Buffalo, packed
two suitcases onto a 1983 Suzuki, and headed west toward
California.
Excited on the inhale… scared on the exhale.

Chances in a Far Away Land by Scott Coons is available on Amazon.
Trailer: The Come Back Begins
2026/02/27
This is the starting point.
Kicking Depression in the Ass is about getting back up, rebuilding, and learning how to live
— not just survive.
In this trailer, I share what the show is about and where we’re headed next. If you’re feeling
stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for change, start here.

Let’s begin.
Fall Forward- Even if you don't feel like it.
2026/02/26
Some days aren’t dramatic — they’re just flat. In this episode, I share
why waiting until we “feel like it” can quietly stall our lives.
With humor and honesty, I talk about momentum, brain chemistry,
medication, sobriety, and why small daily actions matter more than big
emotional breakthroughs.
If you’re going to fall, fall forward.
My book kicking depression in the ass by Scott Coons goes deeper into these personal stories and the
steps that helped me build forward momentum. It’s available now on
Amazon.
Keep moving.
Ready-Fire, Aim
2026/02/25
In this episode, I talk about being a “Ready. Fire. Aim.” personality and
how that mindset shaped my life. From quitting a stable job at 22 to
start a detailing business that opened on a snow day, to learning the
difference between movement and direction, this episode is about
refining your drive — not suppressing it.
You don’t have to be perfect to start. You just need to aim at something
that matters. If your routine isn’t building toward a target, it may be
leading you nowhere.

Depression in the Ass: The Rocky Road to Recovery” on Amazon.
Always Under Construction
2026/02/24
When I first heard the quote, “The road to success is always under construction,” it landed
in a deep way for me, because if I’m honest, my life has never felt finished. It has always felt
like a work zone. Cones out. Detours everywhere. Uneven pavement.
I’ve had several moments in my life that felt like crossroads. Not small decisions. Big
internal shifts. The kind where you know something is changing, even if you don’t fully
understand what yet.
One of the visuals I use to understand my life is simple. I imagine myself sitting at a table,
and on that table is a vase. That vase represents me. My identity. My sense of safety. My
belief about who I am.
Tail of the Dragon
2026/02/24
The world is full of beauty — and it’s also full of chaos. In this episode, I share a personal
story from riding the Tail of the Dragon — 130 curves in the mountains, a broken clutch
handle, and an unexpected act of kindness that stayed with me for over a decade.
Depression has a way of magnifying the negative and shrinking the good. But what if what
we focus on actually shapes how we experience life?
This episode is about perspective, gratitude, and remembering that most people are still
good.
If this episode speaks to you, share it with someone who needs hope.
And if you’d like to read more true stories like this — stories about resilience, faith, love,
and unexpected kindness — check out my book “A New Sunrise,” available now on Amazon.
There are many more moments like this inside. Thanks for listening. If this helped you, follow the show and share it.

Building a Life Worth Defending
2026/02/22
In today’s episode of Kicking Depression in the Ass, Scott reflects on living through life on
life’s terms. Using a simple wheel analogy, he shares from personal experience how balance
— sleep, exercise, faith, connection, nourishment, and purpose — keeps him steady. This
episode is about endurance, humility, and daily course correction. Not preaching. Just
sharing what works.

Strength In The Middle
2026/02/22
It’s easy to talk about strength after the storm has passed. It’s much harder to talk about it
when you’re still in the middle of it.
In this episode, I share honestly about long-distance marriage, immigration uncertainty,
financial pressure, and the emotional weight of waiting. This isn’t a story with a neat ending.
It’s a reflection from the middle — where strength isn’t loud or dramatic, but quiet and
consistent.
We talk about chronic depression patterns, uncertainty, self-judgment, and how to keep
showing up even when you don’t feel strong. Because strength in the middle doesn’t mean
you feel powerful — it means you stay.
If you’re navigating a long season that hasn’t resolved yet, this conversation is for you.
My book, Kicking Depression in the Ass: The Rocky Road to Recovery, goes deeper into
fighting the slow drift of depression during extended seasons of uncertainty. Book Kicking Depression in the ass By Scott Coons is on Amazon
From Surviving to living
2026/02/20
For a long time, I focused on surviving depression. In this episode, I talk about the shift from
survival to living.
Recovery is just the beginning. Real growth happens when we stop fighting the old battle
and start building something new.
If you’re ready to move forward, this episode is for you.
