Fear of What People Think: When Opinions Hold You Back from God's Calling
2026/01/30
We all care what people think — but when the opinions of others start shaping our decisions, they can quietly pull us away from what God has called us to do. In this episode, we talk about how fear of judgment, disapproval, or misunderstanding can lead to hesitation, self-editing, and delayed obedience — even when God has already made the next step clear. Using Galatians 1:10 and the example of the Apostle Paul, we explore the difference between seeking godly counsel and living for approval, and how to recognize when other voices have become louder than God's. This conversation is for the woman who: Feels stuck or hesitant even though she senses God nudging her forward Replays conversations and worries about how she's perceived Wants to be wise and kind but feels held back by fear of what others might think If you've ever wondered whether you're being cautious or simply afraid, this episode will help you refocus, find clarity, and move forward with peace — even when not everyone understands. Key Scripture Galatians 1:10 Proverbs 29:25  Reflection Questions Whose opinion is carrying the most weight in my decisions right now? Has God already spoken, and I'm hesitating because of fear? What would obedience look like if approval wasn't a factor? Call to Action  If this episode encouraged you, be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss future episodes. Faith In Action: Faith that Perseveres
2026/01/07
🎙️ Faith in Action: Faith That Perseveres James Chapter 5 In this final episode of our Faith in Action series, we walk through James chapter 5 — a powerful close to a letter that challenges us not just to believe God's Word, but to live it out. James ends his letter where many of us find ourselves: waiting, weary, praying, and wondering if our faith is making a difference. This chapter reminds us that faith in action isn't flashy or loud — it's faithful. It perseveres through hardship, chooses integrity, stays rooted in prayer, and walks alongside others with grace and restoration. 📖 What We Cover in This Episode Why James speaks so strongly about wealth and injustice (James 5:1–6) How waiting patiently shapes a persevering faith (James 5:7–11) The importance of integrity and simple obedience (James 5:12) Why prayer is central to an active, enduring faith (James 5:13–18) How faith in action restores and pursues others, not perfection (James 5:19–20) ✨ Key Takeaways Faith in action is not just what we believe — it's how we live Waiting does not mean God is absent or inactive Integrity matters in everyday words and decisions Prayer is not a last resort, but a lifeline A persevering faith stays, trusts, and continues walking forward 📚 Scripture References James 5:1–20 Leviticus 19:13 Deuteronomy 24:14–15 Galatians 6:9 James 1:22 🤍 Final Encouragement Real faith doesn't sit still. It acts. It endures. It prays. It trusts God even when the outcome is unknown. As you close this series, may you walk forward with a faith in action — a faith that acts, perseveres, and brings glory to God in everyday life.   Email me at: [email protected] Instagram at www.instagram.com/amydspear/ or @worthypursuitministries
Faith in Action: Faith that Submits
2025/12/12
Book of James Series — Chapter 4 In this week's episode of Worthy Pursuit, Amy walks through James 4 and the powerful call for believers to submit fully to God. When our desires clash with God's desires, tension rises — but James reminds us that the path to peace, clarity, and spiritual strength always begins with humble surrender. James challenges us to look at the motives behind our choices, the battles happening inside our hearts, and the pride that so easily distances us from God. But woven through this chapter is a beautiful promise: "He gives more grace." Grace to resist temptation. Grace to overcome worldly influences. Grace to walk in joyful obedience. In this episode, Amy breaks down: Why conflict and struggle often start within our own desires The difference between worldly wisdom and godly wisdom What true submission looks like in everyday life How pride destroys peace — and humility restores it A practical step-by-step rhythm for drawing near to God Why boasting about tomorrow keeps us from being faithful today You'll walk away encouraged, grounded, and equipped to approach every decision — big or small — with a heart that says, "Lord, Your will over mine."   Key Scriptures James 4:1–12 — Turning from selfish desires & returning to God James 4:13–17 — Living with humility and purpose in every decision   Challenge of the Week   Where in your life is God inviting you to submit, surrender, or slow down? Ask Him to reveal one area where He wants to lead you differently — and commit to one step of obedience this week.   Connect with Amy Follow along for Bible studies, encouragement, and updates on the Worthy Pursuit community. Faith in Action: Taming the Tongue
2025/11/07
In this episode, we continue our Faith in Action series through the book of James by diving into James Chapter 3, where James challenges us to examine the power of our words. Our tongues may be small, but Scripture tells us they can build up with life or burn down with destruction. We've all said things we regret. We've all been hurt by someone else's words. But James reminds us that, through the Holy Spirit, we are called to speak differently — to speak with wisdom, gentleness, and self-control, even when emotions are high. In today's conversation, we talk about: Why our words carry spiritual weight How our speech reflects what's going on in our heart The danger of careless talk, gossip, and comparison Practical ways to surrender our tongue to God daily How to move from reactive speech to Spirit-led speech This episode is both challenging and hopeful — because God never convicts without also offering the grace and power to change. 📖 Scripture Referenced James 3:1–18 Proverbs 18:21 — "The tongue has the power of life and death." Luke 6:45 — "Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks." 💛 Reflect & Apply Ask yourself: "Do my words build or do they burn?" "Who in my life needs encouragement today?" "What would change if I paused and prayed before speaking?" Challenge this week: Speak intentionally — choose one person to bless with genuine, heartfelt encouragement. ✨ If This Episode Encouraged You… Share it with a friend, screenshot and tag @amydspear, or leave a review so more women can join us in living out their faith with purpose.
Faith in Action — James Chapter 2
2025/10/14
In this episode of Worthy Pursuit, Amy dives into James Chapter 2, where faith and action come together as proof of a genuine walk with God. We talk about what it really means to live out our beliefs — not just say we have faith, but let our lives show it through obedience, love, and compassion. James challenges us to move beyond words and into works — not because works save us, but because true faith naturally produces good fruit. When our hearts are surrendered to Christ, our actions begin to reflect His character. Amy breaks down: 🌿 What "faith without works is dead" really means 💡 How small, daily choices can demonstrate your faith ❤️ Why partiality and judgment hinder God's love through us 🔥 Practical ways to live your faith boldly — even when no one's watching You'll walk away encouraged to put your faith in motion, trusting that God uses your obedience — big or small — to impact others for His glory. 🪞 Key Scripture: "Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." — James 2:17 (ESV) ✨ Episode Highlights: Faith isn't about perfection; it's about progress and obedience. Your actions are a reflection of what you truly believe. God invites you to live your faith, not just declare it. 💭 Reflection Question: Where is God calling you to put your faith into action this week? 🔗 Mentioned in This Episode: Scripture Reading: James Chapter 2
Faith That Endures: Finding Joy in the Trials (James 1)
2025/10/09
In this first video episode of Worthy Pursuit, Amy dives into James 1 to talk about what it really means to have a faith that endures. When life gets hard, it's easy to ask "Why me?"—but James reminds us that our trials aren't wasted. They're opportunities for God to grow something lasting inside of us. In this episode, Amy talks about: 🌿 Seeing trials through a different lens — not as punishment, but as preparation. 💡 How endurance deepens spiritual maturity and reveals genuine faith. ✨ The importance of trusting God in the waiting, not just after the outcome. 📖 What James means by "count it all joy" — and how that perspective changes everything. 💭 A personal reflection on finding joy in unexpected seasons. You'll walk away encouraged to stay steadfast when life feels uncertain — remembering that the same God who allows your testing also provides the strength to endure it. Key Scripture: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." — James 1:2–3 Reflection Prompt: What's one challenge you're facing right now where God might be developing your endurance? Write a short prayer asking Him to help you stay faithful through it. Closing Thought: Enduring faith isn't perfect faith — it's persistent faith. Keep trusting that God is producing something beautiful through your perseverance.

Trusting God's Design: Embracing Your Husband's Leadership
2024/09/24
This week, we explore a challenging yet rewarding aspect of marriage: submission and how it is deeply tied to trusting God. We take a look at what biblical submission really means—not as a loss of independence, but as an act of faith and trust in God's design. Submission is about honoring God's plan for marriage and fostering a relationship built on mutual love and respect. In this episode, I offer three practical steps to help Christian women on this journey: Pray – Seek God's wisdom and strength as you grow in love and grace. Communicate with Respect – Honest, respectful communication is key to building a healthy, God-centered marriage. Be Patient – Trust that God is working in both your heart and your marriage, and give yourself grace in the process. I hope these steps help you see submission in a new light, as part of a deeper trust in God and a stronger marriage. Email: [email protected] Follow me on Facebook or Instagram @amydspear

Counting it Joy
2024/05/02
Have you ever found it challenging to view your trials as something to rejoice over? Do you find yourself struggling to praise God during difficult times? I can relate. Personally, my instinct is to rush through life's trials, seeking a quick escape from pain and suffering. However, James chapter 1 encourages us to pause and adopt a different perspective when faced with various trials. James invites us to consider our trials as opportunities for growth and endurance. Rather than simply wishing for an immediate end to our struggles, he prompts us to embrace them with joy, knowing that they have the potential to cultivate steadfastness within us. Furthermore, James offers us hope and practical guidance as we navigate life's turbulent waters. As you tune in to today's episode, my hope and prayer are that you find renewed hope and determination to persevere through whatever season of life you may be experiencing. Let's journey together towards a deeper faith and resilience, even amidst life's challenges.   Email: [email protected] Social: https://www.instagram.com/amydspear/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=9617925
Loving God = Loving Others
2024/04/24
Loving God is often easier said than done, isn't it? John's message in 1 John emphasizes that our love for God must be reflected in how we treat others; the two are inseparable. Loving others is undeniably challenging, perhaps the most difficult aspect of living out our faith. It demands a deliberate pause to consider others' needs before our own, often requiring us to set aside our agendas to serve those around us, especially our immediate community. Despite occasional fatigue or reluctance, love compels us to remain attentive and sacrificial. If you, like me, sometimes feel overwhelmed by the weight of the word "love," I hope today's episode will provide encouragement. Even amidst the toughest circumstances, let's persevere in loving others because of our love for Jesus and our desire to obey Him.
