284. You Don’t Have to Lose Yourself in Motherhood with Scottie Durrett
2026/04/20
What if the exhaustion you feel in motherhood… isn’t because you’re doingit wrong—but because you’ve lost yourself along the way?
In this conversation, Diane sits down with Scottie Durrett, host of the Momplex podcast, to explore the emotional landscape of motherhood—the parts we don’t often say out loud.
The pressure to get it right. The quiet guilt many moms carry. The way we slowly disconnect from ourselves while trying to hold everything together.
Scottie shares her powerful “laundry basket moment”—the moment she realized the life she was living was no longer sustainable.
Together, Diane and Scottie explore what it really means to move from surviving motherhood to thriving in it—not by doing more, but by reconnecting with yourself.
Because when a mother reconnects with herself… everything in the family begins to shift.
In this episode, we explore:
* The invisible pressure mothers carry to “get it right”
* Why guilt is so present in motherhood—and what it’s trying to tell us
* How disconnection from self happens (without us even realizing it)
* Scottie’s “laundry basket moment” and the wake-up call it created
* The difference between surviving and truly thriving in motherhood
*Why your connection to yourself is the foundation for connection in your family

283. The S.T.O.P. Method: A Simple Practice for When You’re Triggered
2026/04/13
In this episode, Diane introduces a simple, practical you can use in real time:
The S.T.O.P. Method.
Building on the previous episode about triggers, Diane shows how the moment of activation is actually an opportunity—to pause, listen, and respond with intention.
Because the shift from chaos to connection happens in the moment you choose to pause.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
*What actually happens in the moment you feel triggered*Why reactions feel automatic—and how to interrupt that pattern*How the S.T.O.P. method creates space between trigger and response*A simple, repeatable practice to help you stay connected to yourself.*How one small pause can shift communication from reactivity to responsibility

281. Triggers Are Invitations (And What They’re Inviting You Into)
2026/04/06
Most of us think our triggers are the problem.
Something to fix.Something to avoid.Or something someone else is causing.
But what if your triggers are actually trying to help you?
In this episode, Diane explores a powerful shift in perspective:
Triggers are not interruptions to connection… they areinvitations.
An invitation to pause. To turn inward. To listen.
Building on the previous episodes in the Chaos to Connection series, Diane connects triggers back to the Drama Triangle and shows how quickly we can move into blame, fixing, or shutting down when we feel activated.
But there is another way.
When we begin to see triggers as internal signals rather than external problems, we open the door to something new:
awareness, responsibility, and ultimately, connection.
Diane also introduces a simple, practical way of working with triggers in real time using the S.T.O.P. method—helping you move from automatic reaction tointentional response.

281. Approval Addiction: Why We Abandon Ourselves to Keep the Peace
2026/03/30
What if approval-seeking isn’t about being liked…but about avoiding the feeling of not enough?
In this episode, I’m unpacking the truth behind approval addiction—how the fear of criticism is really the fear of feeling small, diminished, or invalid… and how that fear quietly drives patterns like people-pleasing,perfectionism, and keeping the peace at your own expense.
I share areal-life example of moving from reactivity to connection (a moment with my 3-year-old granddaughter—she was scared, I felt annoyed… and what unfolded fromthere surprised me)
The shift isn’t about trying harder to “get it right.”It’s about telling the truth.
In This Episode, We Explore:
*Why approval-seeking is really a fear of “not enough”
*How the fear of criticism drives perfectionism and people-pleasing
*The connection between approval addiction and control in parenting
*How these patterns often begin in childhood as a way to stay connected
*A real-life example of moving from reactivity to connection
*How self-connection shifts everything—without force or control

280. From Outer Space to Inner Safety: How Your Home’s Energy Impacts Connection
2026/03/23
What if the energy in your home is speaking louder than your words?
In this episode of Chaos to Connection, I’m joined by BeverlyBeihl, founder of Intuitive Interior and host of The Curiosity Solution Podcast, for a powerful conversation about the connection between our external environment and our internal world.
We often focus on behaviors, what our children are doing, how they’re responding, what needs to change. But what if the real shift starts in the space we’re living in every day?
Beverly introduces the idea that our homes hold energy—and that energy directly impacts our nervous systems, our relationships, and the way our children show up.
Together, we explore how the “interior” of our home is deeply connected to our own internal state—and how small, intentional shifts can create more calm, safety, and connection for the entire family.
This conversation is an invitation to move beyond control and into awareness—of both your space and yourself.
Takeaways from this episode:
✨ Your home isn’t just a physical space—it’s an emotional environment✨ Children respond to energy before they respond to words✨ Regulation isn’t just internal—it’s influenced by what surrounds us✨ Small shifts in your space can create big shifts in your relationships

279. The Hidden Drama Triangle Running Your Relationships
2026/03/16
Do you walk away from conversations feeling frustrated, misunderstood, or stuck in the same pattern again?
Many of us assume relationship conflict happens because of poor communication, personality differences, or someone simply “not listening.”
But there is often a deeper dynamic running quietly beneath the surface.
In this episode, Diane introduces the Drama Triangle, arelationship pattern first identified by Stephen Karpman that explains why conversations can quickly spiral into blame, frustration, or over-responsibility.
Without realizing it, many of us move between three roles:
* Victim – feeling powerless or overwhelmed * Rescuer – stepping in to fix, manage, or take responsibility for others Persecutor – criticizing, blaming, or trying to control outcomes
The tricky part? Most of us don’t stay in just one role. We shift between them depending on the situation.
Diane opens the episode with a personal reflection about how she tried to control outcomes in her children’s lives for her own comfort — something many parents unknowingly do. From grades to behavior to managing emotions, thesepatterns often come from love… but they can quietly create tension and disconnection.
Recognizing these roles is the first step in moving from relationship chaos to empowered connection.
In This Episode You'll Learn:
• What the Drama Triangle is and why it shows up in everydayrelationships• How rescuing can look like helping — but actually creates more conflict• Why we often move between Victim, Rescuer, and Persecutor roles• How these patterns quietly fuel frustration, blame, and disconnection• Why awareness is the first step toward healthier communication

278. Why Life Feels Chaotic Even When You’re Doing Everything Right
2026/03/09
Do you feel like you're doing everything you're supposed to do…showing up for everyone, working hard, keeping the peace, trying to be a good parent, partner, and person…
…and yet inside, life still feels chaotic, exhausting, anddisconnected?
In this episode, we explore a hidden pattern that quietly drives so much of that inner chaos.
It can look like being helpful, responsible, generous, and accommodating. But beneath the surface, it’s often a survival strategy we learned early in life to stay connected and feel accepted.
Over time, that strategy becomes a pattern.
A pattern where we: over-give, over-achieve, over accommodate, avoid conflict, keep the peace and quietly abandon our own truth in order to belong.
But the very strategy that once protected us can eventually create the chaos we feel today.
We cannot change patterns we cannot see.
This conversation will help you begin to notice the deeper dynamics underneath people-pleasing and how it quietly shapes your relationships, your nervous system, and your sense of self.
Awareness is the first step in breaking generational patterns and coming home to yourself.

277. From Co-Dependent Perfectionism to Empowered Parenting with Alana Carvalho
2026/03/02
What if the pressure to be a “good parent” is actually the very thing keeping us disconnected?
In this honest and grounding conversation, I sit down with Alana Carvalho, host of The Co-Dependent Perfectionist and author of How to Raise Empowered Children, to explore the hidden emotional patterns driving modern motherhood.
We talk about co-dependent perfectionism — the subtle but powerful way approval-seeking, over-functioning, and fear of getting it wrong quietly shape how we parent.
This conversation goes beyond surface-level strategies. It’s about:
*How perfectionism gets passed down unintentionally
*What it really means to raise empowered children
*And why empowerment begins with the parent’s relationship with themselves
It’s about leading from connection instead of fear.

276. Boundaries: What They Are (And What They’re Not)
2026/02/23
Boundaries are complex. They can feel uncomfortable. And they are deeply liberating.
In this episode, I’m talking honestly about what boundaries actually are— and the biggest misunderstandings that keep us stuck.
This isn’t about scripts. It’s not about controlling other people. And it’s not about building walls.
It’s about truth.
And here’s the part we don’t often talk about:
If your boundaries are being “crossed,” it's you crossing them.
And that's not about shame or fault.
That's conditioning. We cross our own boundaries every day in subtle ways:
*laughing at jokes we don’t actually find funny.
* Sharing food we don’t actually want.
*Deferring to other people’s preferences while disconnected from our own.
*Dismissing our needs to keep the peace.
That’s not weakness.That’s conditioning.
In this episode, I explore:
*What boundaries actually are
*What they are not
*Why boundaries are relational skills
*Why boundary work begins internally
*How self-respect is the foundation of being respected
Boundary work is not about changing other people. It is about discovering what is true for you — and honoring it.
This episode is real. It’s grounded. It’s honest.
If you’ve felt confused, guilty, or conflicted about boundariesthis conversation will help you see them in a new way.

275. Need More Patience? This One’s for You.
2026/02/16
“I just need more patience.”
It’s one of the most common things I hear from parents — and one of the most loaded.
In this episode, I gently challenge the idea that patience is something you either have or don’t have. Because what if patience isn’t a personality trait… or a moral virtue… or something “good parents” naturally possess?
What if patience is actually about capacity?
Capacity to tolerate discomfort.Capacity to feel stress in your body without reacting.Capacity to return to yourself when you get triggered.
In a culture that quietly equates patience with performance — looking calm on the outside while pushing everything down on the inside — it’s no wonder so many of us feel like we’re failing.
But performance calm isn’t the same as embodied composure.
And impatience isn’t a character flaw — it’s often a signal that your nervous system has hit the edge of its capacity.
You’ll also hear how learning to own your triggers — instead ofsuppressing them — becomes one of the most liberating practices of leadership in parenting and beyond.
Patience isn’t about staying calm all the time. It’s about knowing how to return to yourself when you don’t.

274. When Your To-Do List Is Running Your Life with Courtney Cecil
2026/02/09
What if the reason you feel rushed, stretched thin, and disconnected isn’t because you’re doing something wrong—but because the systems supporting your life aren’t actually supporting you?
In this episode I’m joined by Courtney Cecil, host of the LifeManagement System for Working Moms and founder of the Working Moms Movement.
Courtney supports high-achieving working moms who are doing all the inner work—mindset shifts, personal growth, self-awareness—and yet stillfeel overwhelmed, behind, and depleted. What I love about Courtney’s approach is that she doesn’t frame this struggle as a personal failure or a lack of discipline. She names it for what it often is: a systems problem, not a motivation problem.
In our conversation, we explore how the missing piece may be a structure that actually reflects your values, capacity, and season of life.
In this episode, we talk about:
* Why so many working moms feel overwhelmed even when they’re “doing everything right”
* How the mental load quietly drains energy and presence
* The difference between internal work and external systems—and why both matter
* Why time management isn’t about productivity, but about alignment
* How creating supportive systems can reduce burnout and increase breathing room
* What it really means to design a life that works for you, notagainst you
If your to-do list feels endless…If your responsibilities at home feel imbalanced…If you long to be more present but can’t seem to find the space…
This conversation will feel grounding, validating, and deeply practical.

273. Relationship Over Compliance — What Does That Even Mean?
2026/02/02
We hear it all the time: “Choose relationship over compliance.” Or “Connection over Correction”
It sounds right. It feels aligned. And yet, in the real moments—when a child resists, ignores, or says “no”—many parents are left wondering:
What does that actually look like?
In this episode, I unpack what relationship-focused trulymeans—and what it doesn’t.
Drawing from my years as an educator, my training with Dr. Becky Bailey, and my lived experience as a parent and coach, I explore the gap between parenting language we’ve been given and the embodied skills we were never taught.
You’ll hear why focusing on relationship in parenting is not about being permissive, “nice,” or fixing behavior—and why it actually requires more leadership, not less.
In this episode, we explore:
*Why “relationship over compliance” often feels confusing in the moment
*How behavior-focused prioritizes adult relief, not skill-building
*What relationship-focused really asks of the adult
*The role of self-regulation and presence in leading children
*Why compliance soothes the adult nervous system—but relationship builds capacity
*How staying connected to yourself changes everything in moments of resistance
At its core, this episode reframes leadership away from control and toward regulated, self-led presence—especially when things fall apart.
If you know you believe in connection but struggle to live it especially when it’s hard, this conversation is for you.

272. From Control to Curiosity: Understanding Resistance in Parenting
2026/01/26
What if resistance isn’t the problem—but the doorway?
In this episode of Chaos to Connection, Diane explores one of the most misunderstood dynamics in parenting: resistance. From chores and homework to “not listening,” resistance often triggers power struggles that leave both parents and children feeling disconnected and frustrated.
But what if resistance isn’t defiance at all?
Drawing from nervous system awareness, emotional leadership, and her own lived experience, Diane reframes resistance as self-protection, not misbehavior—and reveals how power struggles begin when a child’s resistancecollides with a parent’s unowned trigger.
This episode invites parents to shift from control to curiosity, blame to ownership, and reactivity to regulation—creating the conditions where responsibility, connection, and trust can actually grow.
In This Episode, You’ll Explore:
*Why resistance is not defiance—but protection
*How children’s resistance mirrors adult resistance (avoidance, procrastination, “I know,” shutdown)
*The hidden reason power struggles escalate: resistance meeting resistance
*How parents often react not to behavior, but to what the behavior triggersin them
*Why blaming children for our triggers dismisses their inner experience
*The difference between control-based parenting and curiosity-based leadership
*How boundaries can exist without power struggles
*Why staying with yourself when triggered is the real work of parenting
A Key Reframe from the Episode:
“Resistance is fear trying to keep us safe—and power struggles begin when resistance meets resistance.”
Reflection Questions for Parents:
What does my child resist most—and what might that resistance be protecting them from?
What gets triggered in me when my child resists?
Where might I be resisting their resistance instead of leading from regulation?

271. The Power of Boundaries: From All-or-Nothing to Empowered Action w/ Cortney Hackett
2026/01/19
In this week’s episode, I’m joined by Cortney Hackett, founder of Grit & Grace. Cortney helps women turn overwhelm into action with practical, grounded strategies that make the impossible possible.
Together, we dive into one of my favorite topics — boundaries — and explore some of the biggest misconceptions women hold about them. Cortney shares how boundaries aren’t walls or restrictions, but pathways to freedom, clarity, and self-leadership.
We also unpack the “all or nothing” mindset that keeps so many of us stuck in cycles of burnout and procrastination — and how taking small, meaningful steps can actually create more momentum than massive overhauls ever do.
And don’t miss Cortney’s brilliant reframe on “scheduling freak-out time,” a practice that helped her quiet chronic worry and move from anxiety into action.
In this episode, we explore:
*The liberating truth about boundaries — and how they create emotional and energetic freedom
*Why perfectionism and “all or nothing” thinking keep women stuck
*The power of small, doable actions that build confidence and consistency
*Cortney’s practical tip for managing worry: schedule your“freak-out time”
*How to move from surviving to leading yourself through life’s everyday hard things

270. Why Chores Don’t Teach Responsibility (And What Actually Does)
2026/01/12
As parents we want to raise responsible children.
But what does responsibility actually mean—and how do kids truly learn it?
In this episode, we explore why chores, homework, and compliance don’t automatically create responsibility, and how focusing only on behavior can unintentionally teach children to perform responsibility rather than embodyit.
When responsibility is enforced without safety or trust, children may comply on the outside—but inside, resentment quietly grows.
You’ll learn why responsibility isn’t something we can force, coerce, or manage into existence—and what actually helps children claim ownership for themselves.
In this episode, we explore:
*Why responsibility is often confused with compliance and “good behavior”
*How focusing on appearances can disconnect children from their inner world
*The difference between performative responsibility and embodied ownership
*How power struggles around chores and homework create resentment—not capability
*Why resistance isn’t the problem, but the doorway
*The two ingredients required for true responsibility: safety and trust
*How adult regulation and presence shape a child’s capacity for ownership
This episode is an invitation to pause and reflect:Are we raising responsible children—or resentful ones?
Because responsibility isn’t taught through pressure. It’s grown through relationship.
