We're sitting down with two addicts - GuitarGuy93 and TwentyFour7 - to discuss their polyester passion, and what prompted them to team up and create the first ever NHL Hockey Jersey Superlatives Awards - a quiz with 650+ entries that looks to rank jerseys from the 2020-21 season in categories like best Reverse Retro, Biggest Missed Opportunity, and Looks Most Like a Walmart Jersey. We also discuss the new jerseys announced for the upcoming 2021-22 season - including the Winter Classic jerseys and the new Adidas Prime Green initiative. We also look ahead and predict what effect - if any - ads on jerseys will have in creating the NascarHL.

We're chatting with some very special moms on a very special day, Mother's Day! First up is my mom - Catherine. Whether it was the early morning practices, the politics of tryouts, the tournaments across the country, or the carpooling to games, my mom was there for it all and shares what her experience as a hockey mom was like starting in Canada and the United States. Then, I get a chance to catch up with my good friend Lauren, hockey player and mother to two kids - a boy and a girl - who are both playing youth hockey in Michigan. It's really interesting to hear the similarities and differences between raising a Canadian Millennial and some American Gen Zs. What wisdom do these moms have for you parents and players out there? We're chatting about the Fabric of the Game with sports history buffs Chris Creamer and Todd Radom. Chris is a fourth generation artist whose work includes designing logos for the MLB and publishing numerous books on sports logos. Chris runs a website dedicated to the vocation, and his attention to detail and history has landed him gigs with the NHL as a consultant during their centennial season. You think combining forces and writing a book on the history of hockey via the teams and their jerseys would be a success? The NWHL is back! Hitting NBCSN Mar 26 & 27 to finish off their season with four teams left chasing after the Isobel Cup! We talk to Connecticut Whale's Nicole Guagliardo about life as a women's pro hockey player, the rollercoaster season in the NWHL, get her advice for young women players on how to get scouted, the PWHPA, and what lies ahead in the future for Nicole and women's hockey.

Today we’re chatting with Jalen Smereck, a hockey player on the AHL Tucson Roadrunners who has partnered with his team to auction off his 2019-20 game worn jersey to benefit youth hockey in his home community in Detroit. We discuss how the initiative came about, the Detroit Hockey Dreams Youth Hockey Association, what Jalen is working on to benefit his community, and what projects and outreach he'd like to see on and off the ice to grow hockey into a more diverse and inclusive sport. Let's hope the AHL is listening! 

We invite Terry Smith, designer of the Sharks logo, back on our program for another discussion on design, diversity, and the San Jose Sharks. Terry created custom skates for a few players in the NHL to support Black History Month, with a design that features Willie O'Ree. Bauer just released the designs publicly, so in this episode, you get to hear from the designer himself the process that went into those skates. Additionally, Terry will be designing a diversity and inclusion warmup jersey for the Sharks set to debut Mar 20 and while we can't discuss just how awesome that design is, we do get to brainstorm on ways to have his jersey and his other design ideas reach a wider fanbase. Never before heard stories on the Sharks beginnings, behind the scenes with one of the biggest names in sports logo design, what could be better? Well I have a panel of Sharks jersey addicts with me to ask all the right questions. It's no secret he admires the 1996 alternate third jerseys, and learn the salmon skate was both love and first sight and played hard to get.

Today’s episode is an important discussion with an important individual about an important initiative. Rico Phillips is the Director of Cultural Diversity and Inclusion for the Ontario Hockey League and an advisory board member to the Hockey Diversity Alliance. He’s also the 2019 recipient of the NHL’s Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award, an a nnual recognition by the NHL “to an individual who – through the game of hockey – has positively impacted his or her community, culture or society.” We sit down with Rico and discuss some difficult situations he has faced personally as a ref and player, the support the NHL gave when Rico sought to grow his Flint Inner City Youth Hockey Program, guidance he’s received from Willie O’Ree, and actions all of us – no matter our role and background – can take to become involved or more involved in making hockey a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive sport.
