Take Back Control of Your Life
2025/03/21
Devi returns in this newest season of DDWI.
Here, we reiterate that taking back control of your life starts with your mind. We get trapped in anxious loops, believing thoughts without evidence, and end up spiraling into self-doubt. But what if we took a pause? What if we tuned in to those thoughts? In this episode, we break down thinking traps and how to cap your ruminating thoughts with the power of mindfulness. Attuning to the self is the most powerful part of this journey, balanced by self-compassion.
Let’s unlearn self-criticism and start planting the seeds of self-love.

The Unselfish Art of Focusing on Yourself
2022/10/27
In this episode of Devi Deals With It, we present the question: what part of the day do you focus on yourself?
The results from the Happiness and Life Satisfaction survey study done by Our World in Data were discussed in regards to how one perceives their sense of self. The ultimate question from this study that was discussed in this episode was, "how happy are you?" Devi was inspired to perform her own mini experiment on social media and found that, of the population that answered the polls,:
Are you using your time wisely? 57% no
Do you think you take care of yourself enough? 73% no
Are you actively working on your personal goals? 50% no
Does it matter what others think of you? 69% no
Do you know what you want most out of life? 67% yes
These results are important in recognizing how the average person views their self. Devi raises the point that, if we took more care of ourselves, beyond the physical and mental level, then we would feel as though we used our time more wisely. If we all embarked on a spiritual path, we could boost our self-discovery and maturation path by a lot.
"When we do make time for our wants and needs, we are more alive to the world around us, more available, and more giving of our fullest selves."
Differing Perspectives
2022/09/22
In this episode of DDWI, we discuss the importance of being able to recognize a different perspective when we see one; just because someone else has a different take on a topic/question does not mean they are wrong or that their answer is bad. Once we grasp this concept that everyone perceives things differently, we will be one step closer to reducing unnecessary ignorance. One point to be emphasized is that some ignorance is natural, and we innately experience ignorance as humans because we are unique individuals. We learn and perceive in varied ways, so this ignorance is not to be taken negatively, as we all have some level of ignorance within us. Stay tuned for the next episode of Devi Deals With It!
Mental Minimalism
2022/09/02
Take a break from outside, start healing what’s inside! In this episode of Devi Deals With It, we discuss the importance of simplicity of life; getting away from materialistic distractions and temporary pleasures of life can help, but once you remove the people, activities, or behaviors in your life that drain you emotionally, you can finally achieve a peace of mind.
Happiness Is Our Present, Not Just Our Future
2022/05/25
In this episode of Devi Deals With It, we discuss the importance of happiness in the current time. Many people believe that time is an illusion or time doesn't matter, but as time moves in a linear fashion, so do we; we only have so much time to live the best life. Why wait until next year when you get that job promotion to be happy when you can do what's in your control to be happy now? Although happiness is not directly a choice, there are certainly many things we can control to influence our affective states.
Storytime: Burnout
2021/10/10
Mental burnout is not only workplace related, it can also happen if you have a high-achieving personality or a busy lifestyle. In order to balance the triangle of human health, all three sides must work in alignment: mental, physical, and social. Stay tuned for the next episode of DDWI!
Letting Go
2021/08/02
Devi goes over the Process of Letting Go, which involves three steps; notice and allow the present moment experience to be there, assess if it is useful or not useful, and if it is useful then change or if it isn’t useful then let go. Letting go involves stepping back from painful experiences to notice what’s going on in our mind. Stay tuned for the next episode of Devi Deals With It!
Can We Control How We Feel?
2021/07/22
In this episode, Devi discusses a modern term: toxic positivity. Spreading fake positivity and the notion that you can control how you feel both favor a falsely positive facade. The idea that “happiness is a choice” spreads a cheerfully false ideal. Essentially, it is important for us to distinguish between what we can control versus what is out of our control.
Is Self-Awareness Selfish?
2021/07/15

2021/01/14
We all tend to overthink, especially in stressful situations. What is important is how we go about solving that situation, which is our ability to problem-solve.
