This week we begin Schlocktober with the world of Kojo Suziki, the Well & the VHS Tape. Lindsay & Gabe travel that small volcanic island to visit Sadako. It's a Double of Hideo Nakata's Ringu (1998) & The George Iida' Spiral (1998). Both released on the same day in 1998. One an atmospheric adaption of Suziki's novel that focuses on the visual metaphors of a horror storytelling. The other tries to be more faithful to Suziki's more philosophical science fiction novels. One blew up, helping to create a new horror genre, the other a forgotten curiosity. But both important to the tale of The Ring.
