Sermon: Unity and Glory (Jn. 17:20-26)
2026/10/26
We all carry a deep longing to belong, to be secure, and to know our lives matter. But whenever we try to secure that for ourselves, we hit a wall. Religion tells us to climb a ladder of moral performance and spiritual effort, leaving us anxious and burned out. Secular culture tells us to create our own meaning and "just be more loving," only to fracture under the weight of real life. In John 17, Jesus shatters both broken ladders. Hours before the cross, in the quiet of the night, He lifts His eyes to heaven and prays—not just for the disciples in the room, but for you. Join us as we look at the radical relief of Christ’s high priestly prayer. Discover what it means that Jesus didn't depart at His ascension, but arrived in power through His Word to give you His own glory, settle your debt, and secure your place with the Father for free.

Sermon: The Hour of Assurance (Jn. 17:1-11)
2026/10/12
Have you ever wondered how Jesus and the Father talk about you when you aren't in the room? Most of us assume that if heaven is discussing our lives, it must sound like an annual performance review—a laundry list of our faults, doubts, and missed marks. But we don't have to guess. John 17 pulls back the curtain and lets us overhear the Son of God speaking directly to the Father about his people. Standing in the shadow of the cross, under the crushing pressure of what is to come, Jesus doesn't scramble for an escape. Instead, he lifts his eyes to heaven and intercedes for his followers. In this message, we unpack John 17:1–11 and discover that our life, security, and community don't depend on how tightly we can grip God, but on how securely the Father and the Son are holding us.
Pastor's Class: Doctrine of Christ Part 1
2026/10/09
If you ask the average person around town what they think of Jesus, the answer is almost always polite: "He was a great moral teacher. A wonderful example." It sounds generous, but here’s the problem: a moral teacher is the last thing a sinner needs. A coach can give you ethical homework, but he can't wash a guilty conscience clean. And apart from Jesus, what are we supposed to do with our sin? Secular self-help tries to therapy it away, while religion tries to balance the scoreboard with more effort—and both leave us exhausted. In this first session of our Core Christianity class, we look at why the religious establishment had Jesus crucified, what happened when he bypassed the temple rituals to forgive a paralyzed man on the spot, and why Jesus being God in the flesh is the only news that actually sets us free. Recorded live in the Sunday Foundations class at Gospel Life Church in Huntsville, Alabama.
Sermon: Peace When the World Presses Down (Jn. 16:23-33)
2026/10/05
Living in this world comes with real pressure. Between unexpected medical reports, family strain, quiet grief, and the mistakes we can’t undo, life has a way of bearing down on our chests until we can barely catch our breath. When that weight sets in, we naturally try to rescue ourselves: either by optimizing our circumstances to regain control, or by trying to bargain with God through religion and our own spiritual effort. Both paths inevitably fail. In this message, we look at Jesus’ final words to His disciples before the cross in John 16. Right when their confidence is about to crumble and they are on the verge of scattering, Jesus doesn't give them a heavier spiritual to-do list. Instead, He gives them an unconditional promise: the Father Himself loves you, your salvation is held by Christ's grip rather than your own, and the final outcome of this broken world has already been settled at the cross and the empty tomb. You won't overcome the world by the strength of your faith; Jesus has already overcome the world for you.
Leaving to be Present (John 16:12-22)
2026/09/28
What do you do when you feel like God has stepped out of the room? When Jesus told His disciples He was leaving for "a little while," they immediately panicked. And throughout church history, our default human instinct has been to do the exact same thing: build a religion around the absence of Jesus. We act like we’ve been left home alone with an impossible religious to-do list, terrified we’re going to fail inspection when He walks back in the door. In this message from John 16, we look at the comforting reality behind Jesus' words. Jesus is not an absentee landlord who leaves you to manage your own spiritual survival. He went to the cross to pay your debt in full, rose to swallow your death, and is present with you right now. Through the Holy Spirit, Christ delivers His own righteousness, peace, and unconditional forgiveness straight into your ears. If you are exhausted from trying to hold down the fort, hear the good news today: your sins are forgiven, Christ is present, and no one can take your joy away.
