Nobody Prepares You For The End Of It
2026/10/19
My mum was discharged from oncology. Everyone told her it was wonderful news, and they were right. She came home with a clear diary and no idea what to put in it, and I've been thinking since about how much structure the treatment was quietly providing. This is about what happens when the scaffolding comes down at exactly the moment you're expected to feel relieved, and about being congratulated on an ending while privately managing a beginning nobody has acknowledged. It's October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this is my contribution to it. There's nothing for sale in this one. What Six Months In The LeadHer Circle Actually Looks Like
2026/10/12
Last week I made the case for why complex transition can't be worked out alone. This week I'm answering the practical questions instead, because if you're considering something that runs for six months you deserve to know exactly what you're agreeing to. What happens in a session, why the thing runs for six months rather than six weeks, who's actually in the room, and what changed for one woman who did it. Applications for the LeadHer Circle close Friday 16 October. The group starts 22 October: https://theleaptolead.com/mastermind Learn more: Join The Weekly Leap, honest conversations for women navigating change, delivered every week: https://theleaptolead.com/newsletter Transition Intelligence (TQ), my framework for navigating change without losing yourself: https://theleaptolead.com/transition-intelligence LeadHer Circle, small group mastermind for capable women ready to move forward: https://theleaptolead.com/mastermind
Why You Can't Think This Through On Your Own
2026/10/05
Complex transition isn't a willpower problem and it isn't an intelligence problem. It's that the thinking needs somewhere to land, and most women in the middle of one don't have anywhere it can. In this episode I talk about what a room of women at the same stage gives you that no single conversation can, why the decision almost always arrives the morning after rather than during, and why I don't think the right room is a nice extra. The LeadHer Circle opens this week. Six months, small group, starting 22 October. The Credentials Nobody Asked You For
2026/09/28
I've spent twenty-five years in HR across seven countries, and I've sat on more hiring panels than I can count. In all that time I've never once seen a panel reject a woman for the reason she rejected herself. This video is about self-disqualification, the quiet habit of ruling yourself out by naming a qualification nobody requested. I also talk about the difference between wanting freedom and wanting independence, which are not the same thing and lead to very different next chapters, and about the question I think most women are answering when they should be answering a different one entirely. The Transition You Didn't Choose
2026/09/21
Most of what gets written about transition assumes you chose it. You decided to leave, you decided to start something, you decided it was time. This video is about the other kind, the change that arrives without your consent and that you're then expected to be reasonable about. I talk about what a woman actually loses when a role is removed by a decision made above her, why being asked to stay positive costs more than the loss itself, and why self-anchoring matters most exactly when you had no say in what went. Why You Can Explain Everything Except What You Actually Want
2026/09/14
Most of the women I work with can explain their situation in full detail and still can't say the one plain sentence underneath it. Not because they're unclear, but because nobody has ever listened for the thread. In this video I talk about the difference between being listened to and being heard, why the people closest to you are the worst people to think out loud with, and why waiting for clarity to arrive on its own usually means the decision gets made for you. If you've been going around the same question for two years, this one is for you. Is This It? Why Confidence Goes Out Of Date
2026/09/07
Confidence doesn't erode. It goes out of date. You set your goals in your twenties and built yourself for them. Then you moved countries, or had children, or reached the role you'd been working towards and looked around wondering whether this was it. You changed. The goals didn't. And the confidence you built is still there, it just belongs to a woman who doesn't exist anymore. In this conversation I'm joined by Julie Murrell, style consultant and writer of The Mindful Dresser, to talk about what actually happens to women's confidence in midlife. We cover the moment that forces a woman to admit something isn't working, why capable women argue their way out of their own strengths, and what to do first when you realise you've drifted. Why Waiting For Permission To Invest In Yourself Is The Most Expensive Decision You'll Make
2026/08/31
There's a version of investing in yourself you keep putting off. Not because you can't afford it. Not because the timing isn't right. But because somewhere along the way, you started needing permission to back yourself. In this episode I'm talking about the hidden pattern that keeps capable women on the waiting list of their own lives, and the real cost of staying there. If you've ever built a case to justify investing in yourself. If you've watched the time pass while waiting for the right feeling to arrive. If you've spent thousands on everything else without a second thought but hesitated when it came to your own growth, this one is for you. We talk about: Why women default to seeking permission before backing themselvesThe invisible cost of waiting, what you don't build while you're decidingHow certainty actually works (it doesn't arrive before the decision)The moment I built a spreadsheet to justify my own business to my husbandWhat changed when I stopped waiting and said yes to myself I'm Emily Rogers, and this podcast is for capable women who are tired of carrying everything and quietly wondering when it is their turn. We have honest conversations here. No fluff. No motivational language that evaporates by morning. Just what is actually true about navigating this season. Why Moving Countries Changes More Than Your Address
2026/08/24
You packed up everything and followed the plan. New country, exciting opportunity, fresh start. On paper it all made sense. But somewhere between the school run and the expat coffee morning, something shifted. The career that used to define you is gone. The community that knew your history isn't there. And the woman who arrived at the airport isn't quite sure who she is here. In this episode I'm talking about the identity disruption that relocation causes in capable women, and why it rarely gets named for what it is. Not culture shock. Not homesickness. A genuine stripping away of the scaffolding that held your sense of self in place. If you've moved more than once, this is for you. And if you're wondering when your turn comes to be something that is truly yours, this is where we start. What we cover: - What relocation actually does to a woman's identity, beyond the logistics - Why globally mobile women are among the most capable and most invisible - How each move strips away the previous version of yourself - What building a sense of self that travels with you actually looks like - The difference between adapting and quietly losing yourself Follow for honest conversations about navigating this season. Transition Intelligence: The Leadership Skill Nobody Is Teaching Women
2026/08/17
There is a word we keep using when we talk about women navigating change. Resilience. Bounce back. Keep going. Push through. But after nearly a decade working with high achieving women through some of the most significant transitions of their lives, I have noticed something. Resilience is not enough. It gets you through. It does not get you through with yourself intact. In this episode I am introducing Transition Intelligence, the deeper skill underneath resilience that the women who navigate change most powerfully have developed. This is not a theory. It is a pattern I have observed across hundreds of women navigating major life and career transitions, and it is the skill the leadership world is not talking about clearly enough. In this video you will learn: Why resilience alone is a blunt instrument for identity-level changeWhat Transition Intelligence actually is and how it shows up in practiceThe four capacities that distinguish women who come through transition powerfullyWhy this skill matters more now than at any other point in women's leadership history Whether you are navigating a career shift, a business pivot, an expat relocation or a midlife reorientation, this conversation is for you. Why So Many Experienced Women Still Struggle With Visibility
2026/08/10
You have decades of experience. You have led teams, built things, navigated change. And yet when it comes to stepping fully into visibility, something still holds you back. You are not imagining it. And it is not a confidence problem. In this episode, I explore why so many experienced, capable women remain partially hidden, not because they lack skill, but because visibility has historically carried a real cost for women. The hesitation is not irrational. But it is costing you opportunities, income and impact. We talk about: Where visibility fears actually come fromWhy women underestimate their expertise even after decadesHow starting over in a new context can reset your confidence completelyWhat it actually means to take up space as a leaderThe relationship between visibility and business growth I also share a client story that captures this perfectly, a woman with global awards, senior roles and a track record of turning businesses around, who became invisible the moment context changed. Why Capable Women Can't Answer "What Do You Need?"
2026/08/03
Someone who loves you asks what do you need? And you have no answer. Not because you do not need anything. But because you have been in management mode for so long that you have genuinely lost track of where your own needs are. In this episode I talk about something that happened recently that stopped me in my tracks. My husband said "but you're fine, you've done this so many times". He was not wrong to think it. I had not shown him otherwise. And I did not have the words to tell him what I actually needed, because I did not know. This is the reality for a lot of capable women. We teach the people around us that we are fine. Not through words. Through years of evidence. And then we wonder why nobody asks. In this episode we talk about: Why capable women lose track of their own needsHow we teach the people closest to us that we are fineWhat to do when you genuinely cannot answer the questionThe smaller, quieter forms of support that actually sustain usWhy shedding is as important as asking I'm Emily Rogers, and this podcast is for capable women who are tired of carrying everything and quietly wondering when it is their turn. Why Women In Midlife Often Build The Wrong Business First (And How To Rebuild From Strength)
2026/07/27
When you finally take the leap and start your own business in midlife, the first version you build is almost never the right one. Not because you lack experience or ability. Because you build it from fear, from what feels safe to offer, from what you think people will actually buy from you. In this episode I am talking about a pattern I see over and over with women who come to work with me. The first business they build is a polished version of what they think is acceptable, rather than an honest expression of what they are genuinely best at. I know this because I lived it. Expat Parenting Abroad was a real business. It just was not quite the right one. The Leap To Lead is what happened when I finally built from the right foundation. This is for you if your business is running but something feels off. If you are delivering competently but not from your real depth. If you suspect there is a version of this that would feel quite different. If this resonates and you want to think through what building from your actual strengths could look like for you, book a free conversation with me at https://links.ivorey.io/widget/bookings/theleaptolead-discovery #womenleadership #midlifetransition #womeninbusiness #businesscoach #reinvention #theleaptolead #midlifewomen #startingabusiness
What Turning 49 Is Teaching Me About Leadership, Success And Reinvention
2026/07/20
If you have reached your mid 40s or beyond and quietly wondered whether your best chapter is already behind you, this one is for you. I am turning 49 this week. And I want to tell you what this year has taught me about leadership, about success, and about the kind of life I am building from here. Not the tidy version. The honest one. In this episode I talk about: Why I care far less about proving myself now, and why that is a profound reliefWhat sustainable ambition actually looks like when the hustle framing no longer fitsThe freedom that comes with emotional maturity (it is real, and it is worth waiting for)Letting go of performance-based success and building around what genuinely mattersWhy reinvention after 40 is not starting over, it is evolvingWhat seven countries and twenty-five years of career and life taught me that no leadership course ever could This is the Decide phase of Transition Intelligence made personal. Not a framework lecture. A birthday message, from me to you. If this resonates, I write about this every week. Subscribe and join me at www.theleaptolead.com/newsletter
Why Midlife Changes The Way Women Want To Work
2026/07/13
If the career that drove you for years is starting to feel like it belongs to someone else, you are not broken. You are evolving. In this episode I am talking about one of the most common and least-discussed experiences for women in midlife: the moment your relationship with work quietly shifts. The ambitions that once felt electric start to feel heavy. The title you worked toward stops fitting. And you are not sure whether to push through or listen to what that means. This is not a midlife crisis. This is midlife intelligence. And understanding the difference changes everything. In this conversation we cover: Why old career identities stop fitting as we growHow emotional maturity changes the way we lead and contributeWhy ambition itself evolves, and what yours might be asking for nowHow to reassess time, energy and capacity honestly, without guiltWhy women who have built multiple identities across multiple countries feel this shift most acutelyThe difference between shedding what no longer serves and abandoning what still matters If you are a high achieving woman who is quietly wondering whether the way you work still fits who you are becoming, pour yourself a cuppa. This one is for you. Follow for honest conversations about what it really takes to navigate this season. Every week, no fluff.
