Nick catches up with Calvin Clauson of Scheels on what lures, augers, sonar and other ice fishing gear are flying off the shelves as the season gets going in this week's installment of Our Outdoors Radio. 

Nick previews the chilly, ice-making weekend of Dec. 12-14 and catches up with Furbearer Biologist Stephanie Tucker of the NDG&F Department for more on the short 2025 river otter trapping season and the status of the riverine mammals in the state. 

Nick chats with Fisheries Supervisor Bryan Sea of the NDG&F to get a status report on Lake headed into the early ice season. An abundance of walleyes headed into winter should provide fast action for ice anglers this year.

Nick takes a look around the southeast district of North Dakota with Fisheries Supervisor BJ Kratz of the North Dakota Game & Fish Department for hotspots loaded with walleyes, crappies, bluegills and perch for the upcoming hardwater season.

In the heart of firearms deer season, Nick checks in with Kip Adams, Chief Conservation Officer for the National Deer Association to get the pulse on the nation's deer hunting, the quality bucks being taken more frequently, and what's new and exciting with the organization. 

Nick previews weekend #2 of gun season and checks in with Rod Haugtvedt, owner of the award-winning Valley Meats in Valley City for tips on getting that venison from field to fork for the best quality and taste. 

Nick talks with NDG&F Wildlife Division Assistant Chief Levi Jacobson on the status of ND's deer herds as the firearms season gets underway. 

Nick previews the firearms deer opener weekend and catches up with Game Warden Corey Erck for the details on field reports and the Report All Poachers hotline number that every hunter should know to help protect the resource.
