Welcome to the Awards Radar Podcast. In each episode, Editor-In-Chief Joey Magidson (that’s me!) will be joined by some of the staff of Awards Radar to talk about the latest in film, television, and entertainment in general. 2026/10/23
For episode 313, I’m joined once again by Kate Schroeder as co-host, back from vacation, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes and, of course, handling TV Topics. This time around, we're looking at two more Oscar categories! Today, it’s Best Actor (my rankings are here) and Best Supporting Actor (my rankings are here). We also discuss some new releases, including Wicker (reviewed here), and take your questions, making for another enjoyable episode, if we do say so ourselves...

A Look at the Best Actress / Best Supporting Actress Fields - #312
2026/10/15
For episode 312, I’m joined once again by Kate Schraeder as co-host, back from vacation, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes and, of course, handling TV Topics. This is a somewhat shorter episode, as Kate was dealing with jet lag and I had just gotten back from a deeply embargoed screening. Still, we did something fun, as we looked at two Oscar categories! Today, it's Best Actress (my rankings are here) and Best Supporting Actress (my rankings are here). Those categories lead to us also once again singing the praises of Mike Leigh's Tender Loving Care (my rave review is here). Next week, it'll be Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Throw in some spooky season chatter as well as a quick discussions of what we've seen, led by Whalefall (reviewed here), and it's a very solid episode...
As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 312th one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. #311: Joey and Adam Run Down the Big Debut for 'Artificial' and Talk New Releases Like 'The Social Reckoning'
2026/10/08
For episode 311, I’m joined by Adam Patla as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes and, of course, handling TV Topics. This time around, the New York Film Festival is in its final stages, so we discuss some of the titles I've seen there since last episode, like Artificial (reviewed here) and Behemoth! (reviewed here). We also get into The Social Reckoning (reviewed here) and Musk (reviewed here), as well as more about You Can See Everything (reviewed here), while Adam tells us about Whalefall. It's a solid episode, which avoids spoilers for all these flicks, for what that's worth...

Joey and Kate Talk About the New York Film Festival, Potential 'Digger' Audience Reactions, and More - #310
2026/10/01
For episode 310, I’m joined once again by Kate Schroeder as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes and, of course, handling TV Topics. This episode features, in large part, Kate and I talking about the New York Film Festival. We compare NYFF to other festivals, as well as discuss what we've seen this year. For me, I get into Bucking Fastard (reviewed here), Godzilla Minus Zero (reviewed here), Misty Green (reviewed here) NAZA (reviewed here), and Paper Tiger (reviewed here). Kate talks Making Marie Antoinette (reviewed here) and Rose (reviewed here). I also chime in on Primetime (reviewed here) as well as talk more about Digger (reviewed here). The Digger conversation is largely about potential audience reactions, leading to some CinemaScore chatter. Throw in some of your questions and it's another strong festival season episode. Kate will be gone next episode, but back afterwards, so stay tuned to see who joins me next week...
As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 310th one to date (here’s to many more). 'Digger' and 'Resident Evil' Alongside More Festival Chatter - #309
2026/09/24
For episode 309, I’m joined once again by Robert Hamer as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes and, of course, handling TV Topics. This time around, I'm catching Robert up on some of the festival titles he might be interested in (or dreading). We also have lots of thoughts (almost exclusively positive) on Resident Evil (my rave review is here). I also give my spoiler-free take on Digger now that the social embargo is up. Or, at least I try to, since it's still difficult to discuss that film. Besides those movies, we take your questions, as well as address some rather troubling industry news that broke as we were recording...
As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 309th one to date (here’s to many more). TIFF and Previews NYFF with a Returning Kate Schroeder
2026/09/17
For episode 308, I’m joined once again by friend and colleague Kate Schroeder, producer at Access Hollywood (until Friday, when she becomes joins JustWatch), as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes and, of course, handling TV Topics. Kate is back to chat with me about the Toronto International Film Festival, which I've returned from, and the upcoming New York Film Festival, which we'll both be dipping our toes into. Kate has previously attended TIFF, so she has questions about this year's fest, especially as compared to the Telluride Film Festival that we both only got back from a week or so ago. Among the titles from TIFF we discuss are I Play Rocky (rave review here) and The Last Photograph (reviewed here). Throw in her thoughts on Primetime (I see it shortly, so I'll react in a review next week) as well as mine on Resident Evil (reviewed here), and we have a nice little show for you all. Kate is going to be coming back and may well be one of the prime co-hosts for the show going forward (Robert should be back next week, and Adam will be on from time to time as well), so definitely let us know how you're liking her. Plus, look out for some contributions from her on the site itself, as she's joined the team...

Special Guest Kate Schroeder of 'Access Hollywood' to Recap the 2026 Telluride Film Festival
2026/09/11
For episode 307, I’m joined by friend and colleague Kate Schroeder, producer at Access Hollywood, as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on the end of Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. This is our Telluride Film Festival recap, which Kate also attended (for the first time). We go over the films we both saw (all of which I've reviewed on the site), including highlights like Club Kid, The Debut, Wild Horse Nine, and You Can See Everything, as well as our overall experience. My ranking of what I saw at the festival, alongside my reviews and some awards, can be found here. Definitely let us know what you think of Kate, as she may well be a new addition to the show. Next week, if there's a show and we're not dark for a week, it'll be TIFF time, but this one is laser focused on Telluride...
As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 307th one to date (here’s to many more). Joey and Adam Preview the Telluride Film Festival and Talk Impending Releases Like 'The Uprising' - #306
2026/09/03
For episode 306, I’m joined again by Adam Patla as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. This is our Telluride Film Festival preview. so I tell Adam all about Telluride, what I might be seeing in the mountains (obviously recorded prior to the reveal of the lineup today, which you can see here), and how that ties in to both the currently happening Venice Film Festival and next week's start of the Toronto International Film Festival. I also run down my thoughts on Hope (review here), The Uprising, and the first 30 minutes of Resident Evil, while Adam talks about Onslaught. Throw in your questions and it's a quick one before Telluride kicks off...
As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 306th one to date (here’s to many more). Joined by Adam Patla to Talk Emmys, New Releases, and Listener Questions - #305
2026/08/27
For episode 305, I’m joined by Adam Patla as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. This time around, Adam is here to give his take on the Emmy nominees who could become winners (and likely will be back for official predictions next month). We get into new and impending releases like Buddy (reviewed here), It Ends (reviewed here), and The Dog Stars (reviewed here), while I tease how good The Only Living Pickpocket in New York is. Throw in your questions, some fun silliness, and we've got a nice episode to share. Be sure to let us know what you think of Adam as a potential recurring co-host too, as we've already heard very nice things about Maxance and especially Robert so far...

D23, the 'X-Men' Casting, and 'Coyote vs. Acme' - #304
2026/08/19
For episode 304, I’m joined by Robert Hamer as this week’s co-host, with producer Steven Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. This episode features some D23 chatter, with a good portion of that centered on Avengers: Doomsday, the X-Men casting, and Disney theme parks. We also get into the upcoming release of Coyote vs. Acme (my rave review is here), given how it once was never going to see the light of day. Throw in your questions and it's another robust episode. Robert will be back next month, but for next week, look for another new co-host from the site to sit in...

This time around, we're beginning to look the fall film festival slate. We touch a bit on the Telluride Film Festival, but will be looking at that one and the Toronto International Film Festival more in depth soon. Here, there's New York Film Festival chatter, as well as Venice Film Festival chatter. One of the movies that gets the most discussion time from us? Primetime with Robert Pattinson, unsurprisingly. You'll be able to hear about lots of other flicks, as well as some of your questions, making for a nice long episode...

Joey Brings Back Robert Hamer to Talk 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Box Office, the MCU, and Much More #320
2026/08/06
or episode 302, I’m joined by Robert Hamer as this week’s co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. Robert actually was on one of the very first episodes of the show (episode five, in fact, which you can listen to here), so it's a return of sorts, though hopefully he'll be a consistent part of things going forward. This episode features us discussing the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the wake of Spider-Man: Brand New Day (reviewed here) setting the domestic opening weekend box office record. In addition to MCU chatter, I pump him up for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (rave review here), as well as take a few of your questions. There's plenty more here, as Robert hits the ground running, so hopefully you find it be a good one. Plus, there's a Myles update for those who listen closely...

Maxance Vincent Joins Joey to Talk 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and Some Fall Festival Titles
2026/07/30
For episode 301, I’m joined by Maxance Vincent as this week's co-host, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. This time around, I intro Max, who will be occasionally sitting in as we figure out the new post-Myles normal, and we talk Spider-Man: Brand New Day. My rave review of the film can be found here, and we get into what Marvel is doing right with this one, as opposed to what they've been misfiring with lately. I also touch on Tony (rave review here), which leads to some Matt Johnson and Nirvanna the Band the Show (and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie) talk. Throw in your questions, some fall festival chatter, and hopefully the show isn't missing a beat...
As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 301st one to date (here’s to many more). 'The Odyssey' Alongside Christopher Nolan's Filmography Before a Major Announcement About the Future of the Show - #300
2026/07/23
This is the big episode 300, and I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. For 300, Myles has seen The Odyssey (my rave review is here), so we get in deep with Christopher Nolan's latest. We also tackle Nolan's full filmography (my ranking is here), as well as several of your questions. Finally, we wrap with the announcement from Myles that he will be departing the show, with this being his final episode as a regular. So, be sure to wish him well, though he may return from time to time, when certain releases of note hit, like Resident Evil, etc. We may be taking next week off, but when we return, either next week or in August with 301 and beyond, there will be rotating guest co-hosts for a bit, as we figure out what works for the future of the show. Bear with us for a bit, though to be clear, the podcast is not ending, just reimagining things...
As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 300th one to date (here’s to many more, in whatever form they take). 2026/07/16
For episode 299, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. This episode has me reporting to Myles about The Odyssey (rave review here) after seeing it on Monday and an earlier viewing of Tony (review to come) now that embargo on reactions has lifted. I also briefly mention Her Private Hell and Super Troopers 3, though The Odyssey and Tony are a much bigger focus. We also get into some of the bigger trailers that hit during the week, including Behemoth!, Digger, and I Play Rocky. Throw in some questions and we get to plenty, as next week brings episode 300, and an announcement you won't want to miss...
