Collaborating with amazing musicians like Jaco Pastorius and Pat Metheny, she would revolutionize the jazz fusion genre with her vocals and songs. Further into her career she would collaborate with artists like Lionel Richie, Tom Petty and Billy Idol to craft impeccable pop music. She's gone on to inspire dozens of artists as far ranging as Taylor Swift, Brandi Carlisle, Harry Styles and Jacob Collier. She's truly one of the greatest songwriters ever. Formed in the early '90s California Punk Scene, Rage Against the Machine would become one of the most successful and politically charged Metal and Hard Rock acts of all time. Inspired equally by Hip Hop like Public Enemy and the extreme guitars of Black Sabbath, the band fronted by Zach De La Rocha and fed by guitarist Tom Morello's riffs would create anthems for the angst of the decade like "Killing in the Name" and "Testify." Their live shows at festivals like Lollapalooza and Woodstock '99 would cement their iconic statues as well as back to back no.1 albums. The band would go on to inspire their compatriots for the decade like Tool and Soundgarden and even go on to revitalize the politics of iconic artists like Bruce Springsteen. For the season finale of Season 3 of Influenced, we're extremely excited tpo look at the career of the iconic songwriter Neil Young. Starting out with Joni Mitchell as a Canadian folkie inspired by Dylan, he grew a love of country and rock that led him to the states and to Stephan Stills to form the iconic '60s band Buffalo Springfield. After a string of '60s albums, Neil struck solo and became an occasional collaborator in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young which led some of the biggest hits of the decade of the '70s with songs like 'Helpless' and 'Ohio' and his iconic solo music like the amazing "Harvest" album would led him to being one of the most influential writers ever. Influenced is extremely excited to have a special guest today in Chicago Rapper and Hip Hop Artist Fury. Together, we take a look at the incredible career of the iconic Lauryn Hill, both her solo career and her time in the seminal rap group Fugees with Pras and Wyclef Jean. Getting her start on the screen in a Whoopi Goldberg film, Lauryn was immeditely holding the attention of the culture. She exploded with the Fugees early music and the group became instantly iconic with the amazing album 'The Score' in 1996. Lauyrn's vocals both sung and rapped could catapult any track to success and she even found time to write and produce for icons like Aretha Franklin. She's one of the best selling women in hip hop ever and continues to be a massive influence to artists like John Legend, Rihanna and of course our amazing guest today, Fury. In this episode of Influenced, we look at the career of one of the biggest band sof all time, Nirvana. Formed in Washington in the late '80s by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic. Inspired equally by '60s pop rock like CCR, early alternative like the Pixies, and heavy stoner rock like Mudhoney and the Melvins, the group began to write songs and after a rotating lineup of drummers landed a recording contract with Sub Pop that lead to the iconic debut album Bleach. Quickly becoming one of the most hyped bands of the '90s after recruiting drummer Dave Grohl, the band exploded on the scene with their Nevermind album becoming one of the best selling albums of all time. Their iconic sound herald in the "grunge" scene to the mainstream. They continue to be one of the most influenctial groups of all time with artists like Weezer, Green Day, St. Vincent, Lorde, and dozens of others citing the band as an influence. One of the most influential acts in the history of American Music. The band was formed in the late 60's out of a group of five musicians led by Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm that had slowly come together since the late '50s as a backing band for some of the most influential artists of all time like Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan. After backing Dylan as he transitioned into his "Electric" period, the Band began to craft a sound that combined the influences of folk, blues, and country music to form a new kind of Americana sound. Their albums "Music from Big Pink" and their self-titled second album, proved to be some of the most instantly influential music ever created as it altered the careers of icons like Elton John, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and even Paul McCartney. They have continued their influence into the newest generation of artists with like Wilco and Jenny Lewis clearly demonstrating their impeccable influence. In this episode of Influenced, we dive into the career of the incredible Black Keys. From Akron Ohio, the band grew out of a shared love of 1920's delta Blues and self-recording between members Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach.  The band was signed to a record label before they even played either first show after recording in Carney's basement. After a slow rise across the decade of the 2000s, the Black Keys have become one of the biggest rock bands around today as they continue to tour and sell out Arenas. Drawing inspiration from as varied influences as the Eagles and Beastie Boys, the Black Keys have continued to evolve their sound and keep their albums interesting (with a few Grammys to boot!) In this episode we dive into the career of these incredible musicians and what led Dan Auerbach into the studio to produce with some of the industries biggest names like Lana Del Rey. 

In this episode of Influenced, we follow the career of Glam icons T. Rex. Founded in London as an acoustic duo by Frontman Marc Bolan, the band was initially inspired by the likes of the psychedelic hippies Donovan. After a few unsuccessful releases as a duo,  Marc decided to regroup the band as a more traditional rock band and with the release of albums like Electric Warrior and hits like "Get it On" the band shot to the top of the European charts in a way that rivaled the Beatles. Becoming immediately influential with artists like David Bowie citing them as a massive contributor on his art, T. Rex quickly become one of the mainstays in rock and roll influence. They continue to massively inspire the current run of musicians with artists like Ty Segall, Paul Weller, Trent Reznor and the Pixies all citing the band as huge for them personally. In this episode of Influenced, we cover the awesome trio Haim! Formed in LA by sisters Danielle, Este, and Alana; the Haim sisters grew up playing music in their family band covering the likes of Tom Petty and Linda Ronstadt with their parents. After Danielle began to find success as a musician backing artists like Jenny Lewis and Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, the sisters decided to take the band seriously and quickly had 2013's Days Are Gone recorded. After signing with a label and Jay-Z's management company, the band began gaining a reputation as a live band touring with artists like The Killers, Phoenix and Kings of Leon. Their debut album topped the charts in many countries including the UK. The sisters have gone on to be nominated for a number of Grammys and have collaborated with some of the biggest names in Pop music (Taylor Swift, Chromeo, and A$AP Ferg) to name a few. In this episode of Influenced, we take a look at the career of the iconic Bruce Springsteen and especially his work in the 70's and 80's with his group the E Street Band. Bruce has been an indebted part of the Jersey Music scene since he got a guitar in the mid '60s inspired by Elvis and the Beatles. Joining with musicians like his friend Steve Van Zandt and Clarence Clemons on Saxophone, Bruce was able to to craft some of the most iconic songs of the decade with his albums Born to Run, Darkness of the Edge of Town, and The River. Each more successful then the previous album, he also struck gold as a songwriting making chart-topping music with acts like the Pointer Sisters and Patti Smith. His success continued into the eighties as he embraced the music technology of the decade with hit albums like Born in the USA. One of the most iconic songwriters ever, he has influenced countless artists from The Killers and War on Drugs to pop superstars like Lady Gaga. In this episode of Influenced, we dive into the careers of the incredible Pixies. Formed by Joey Santiago and Black Francis (Charles Thompson) in Boston as Students at UMass, Pixies initially grew out of a love for the demented guitar sounds of Hüsker Dü combined with the melodic sensibilities of '60s pop like Peter, Paul and Mary. Once bassist Kim Deal and drummer Dave Lovering were on board, the band was quickly signed to iconic indie label 4AD and got into the studio to release their first work spawning songs like Gigantic and Where is My Mind? The band status as indie superstars quickly grew and the band's success was only rivaled by the tension between Francis and Deal. The band released dozens of fantastic tracks through the '80s and early '90s and were an immediate influence on the music scene striking a chord with bands like Nirvana, Blur and Radiohead who would go on to shape the future of guitar music. Even almost 40 years later, the band is still inspiring groups like the 2023 Grammy winners Wet Leg with their fantastic ear for melody and the iconic dynamics in their music. In this episode of Influenced, we take a look at the career of one of the most iconic bands in pop music history, Fleetwood Mac. Formed in late '60s London by Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer and most importantly the iconic rhythm section (and band namesakes)  Mick Fleetwood and John Mcvie. The group was initially formed as a hard rocking Blues group inspired by Hendrix and the Yardbirds. With the addition of Christine Mcvie on Vocals and Keyboards, the band began to inch toward a pop rock sound as they began a rotating list of band members (15 musicians have past through the banks ranks) after the departure of Green. In the early '70s the band struck gold with the addition of Lindsey Buckinham and Stevie Nicks to the band. They would begin a string of hit songs (Rhiannon, Landslide, The Chain, Don't Stop and Songbird to name a few) and quicckly rose to the top of the industry with the release of the Rumours album. Constantly plagued by inter-personal drama within the band, they defy the odds and continued to put out albums across the next decades even with continued  shuffling of the iconic lineup of the group.
