The Leaderahip Creed - Part 10
2026/08/13
Part 10 of The Leadership Creed concludes the series by exploring one of the greatest realities of biblical leadership: the inseparable link between suffering and glory. Leadership in God's Kingdom is not a sprint but a lifelong marathon that requires endurance, faith, and an eternal perspective. Drawing from 1 Peter 5, Acts 9, Matthew 20, and Galatians 6, this lesson reveals that every faithful leader will encounter seasons of hardship. Just as Jesus endured the cross before receiving the glory of the resurrection, and Paul suffered greatly while advancing the gospel, every Kingdom leader is called to faithfully endure suffering with the hope of an eternal reward. This episode reminds us that God's rewards are often delayed but never denied. While the world seeks recognition and reward in the present, biblical leaders are motivated by the promise of the unfading crown of glory that Christ will give when He returns. This eternal perspective enables leaders to remain faithful, continue serving with joy, and persevere even when the journey is difficult. Join us for the final session of The Leadership Creed as we discover how an eternal hope empowers us to endure present trials, finish the race well, and faithfully serve the Chief Shepherd until the day He appears.
The Leadership Creed - Part 9
2026/08/06
Part 9 of The Leadership Creed explores one of the most foundational principles of biblical leadership:submission to authority. While our culture often celebrates independence and self-promotion, Scripture reveals that true Kingdom authority is always built on humility, obedience, and submission to God.
Drawing from Romans 13, Matthew 8, Hebrews 13, and Philippians 2, this lesson demonstrates that all authority ultimately belongs to God. Leaders who learn to faithfully serve under authority are the very people God entrusts with greater responsibility. Through the example of Jesus—the greatest leader who also displayed the greatest submission—we discover that submission is not weakness but courageous faith in God's sovereign rule.
This episode also examines the relationship between authority and accountability, showing that every leader will one day give an account for how they steward the influence God has entrusted to them. Whether you serve in the church, your family, your workplace, or your community, this teaching will challenge you to embrace humility, trust God's authority even when you disagree with those in leadership, and lead with the heart of Christ.
Join us as we continue The Leadership Creed and discover why those who know how to be under authority are the very people God raises into greater authority.
The Leadership Creed - Part 8
2026/07/30
In Part 8 of the Mustard Seed Leadership Podcast, Brent Brading emphasizes that true biblical leadership is rooted in the heart and skills of a shepherd, driven by genuine love and care rather than the self-serving mindset of a hired hand. Drawing from the life of King David, the message illustrates that God trains leaders in obscure, private places long before calling them into public influence. David’s journey demonstrates three vital lessons: effective leaders reflect God’s personal care for them (Psalm 23:1–3); private battles against lions and bears build the courage needed to protect and correct people when facing public "giants" (1 Samuel 17:34–37); and private devotion and worship lay the essential foundation for public victory and spiritual authority (1 Samuel 16:17–19). Echoing Paul’s urgent warning to the Ephesian elders in Acts 20:28–31, the core takeaway is that shepherd leadership is far from soft—it demands profound commitment, fierce protection of the flock, and a selfless willingness to lay down one’s life for those being led.
The Leadership Creed - Part 7
2026/07/23
Part 7 of The Leadership Creed focuses on one of the most essential qualities of biblical leadership: being filled with the Holy Spirit. While previous lessons examined the five characteristics of potential leaders—character, calling, chemistry, commitment, and competence—this lesson introduces a sixth characteristic that gives life and power to all the others: charisma, meaning "full of the Spirit."
The lesson explains that throughout the New Testament, the primary requirement for leadership was not talent, experience, or personality, but a life empowered by the Holy Spirit. In Acts 6, the early church selected leaders who were "full of the Spirit and wisdom," and when Paul arrived in Ephesus, his first concern was whether the new believers had received the Holy Spirit. Those Spirit-filled disciples became the foundation of a church that influenced an entire region, demonstrating that Spirit-filled leaders produce lasting Kingdom impact.
The teaching highlights five visible marks of a person who is full of the Holy Spirit. They are full of humility, displaying the fruit and freedom of the Spirit rather than self-centeredness; full of wisdom, making godly decisions grounded in Scripture; full of faith, living with bold confidence in God and sensitivity to His voice; full of God's grace, extending mercy and compassion to others; and full of God's power, using spiritual gifts to strengthen and build the body of Christ. These qualities reveal that the Holy Spirit transforms both a leader's character and their effectiveness in ministry.
The lesson concludes with a personal challenge: believers are as full of the Holy Spirit as they choose to be. Because Jesus has made the fullness of the Spirit available to every believer, leaders are called to continually surrender themselves to God and "drink of the Spirit" through worship, prayer, God's Word, and obedience. As they do, they become the kind of leaders who faithfully reflect the heart, wisdom, grace, and power of Christ.
The Leadership Creed - Part 6
2026/07/16
In Part 6 of the Leadership Creed series, we discover one of the most overlooked yet essential principles of biblical leadership: leaders must first be tested before they are entrusted with leading others. Drawing from 1 Timothy 3 and 1 Timothy 5, this message reminds us that God is far more interested in who we are in private than how we perform in public.
True leadership begins with leading yourself well—developing Christlike character, spiritual disciplines, and healthy family relationships. Before God releases someone into greater responsibility, He looks for faithfulness in the unseen places. Rushing leadership can bring unnecessary hurt, while patient preparation produces leaders who are able to care for God's people well.
Through biblical examples, including Samuel's selection of David, this message explores five essential qualities every leader should demonstrate before being released into leadership: character, calling, chemistry, commitment, and competence. Whether you currently lead others or aspire to one day, this episode will challenge you to focus less on gaining a position and more on becoming the kind of person God can trust with influence.
Leadership in God's Kingdom is never about titles—it is about proven faithfulness.
The Leadership Creed - Part 5
2026/07/09
In Part 5 of the Leadership Creed series, we explore one of the most important questions every leader must answer: **Why do you serve?** Drawing from 1 Peter 5:2, this episode reveals that God is not only concerned with what we do, but also with the motives of our hearts. True Kingdom leadership is driven by a genuine love for Jesus, a willing spirit, and an eagerness to serve—not by obligation, recognition, fame, or financial gain.
Through the teachings of Jesus, the writings of Peter and Paul, and practical leadership insights, this message challenges leaders to honestly examine their hearts. You'll discover why serving with the wrong motives ultimately produces burnout and emptiness, while serving from a heart of love brings lasting joy and eternal reward. Whether you lead in the church, your family, your workplace, or your community, this episode will encourage you to guard your heart and lead with the same willing, sacrificial spirit as Christ.
Leadership Creed - Part 4
2026/07/02
In Part 4 of the Leadership Creed series, we explore one of the defining marks of biblical leadership: leading by example. Drawing from John 13, 1 Peter 5, and Acts 20, this episode reveals that Jesus didn't simply teach servant leadership—He demonstrated it by washing His disciples' feet. True Kingdom leaders never outgrow serving, never place themselves above others, and never rely on control or manipulation to influence people. Instead, they inspire through humility, integrity, generosity, and consistent example.
Discover why the greatest leadership influence comes not from powerful words but from a life worth following. Whether you lead in your family, church, workplace, or community, this message will challenge you to reflect the heart of the Chief Shepherd by going first, serving faithfully, and setting an example that points others to Christ.
Leadership Creed part 3
2026/06/25
In this episode of the Mustard Seed Leadership Podcast, we continue exploring The Leadership Creed and discover the heart of Kingdom leadership: servant leadership. Jesus showed us that true greatness is not found in power, position, or the number of people who serve us, but in our willingness to serve others.
Drawing from Matthew 20:25-28, we unpack the truth that leaders in God’s Kingdom choose to become servants, captains choose to become slaves, and the greatest leader of all, Jesus, sacrificed Himself for those He led.
This episode explores how biblical leaders influence through humility, love, and service rather than control or manipulation. We discover why leaders must go first, set the example, add value to others, and carry the heart of a shepherd who cares for those entrusted to them.
Kingdom leadership is not measured by how many people follow you, but by how many people you serve. The greater your influence, the greater your responsibility to lead with humility, sacrifice, and a heart that reflects Jesus.
The Leadership Creed - Part 2
2026/06/18
In Part 2 of the Leadership Creed series, Brent Brading explores the biblical principle that while all followers of Jesus are called to lead people, some are specifically gifted and graced by God for public leadership roles. Drawing from Romans 12, Philippians 1, Acts 20, and 1 Peter 5, Brent explains the leadership structures found in the New Testament church, including apostles, elders, overseers, pastors, and deacons.
He highlights that leadership is a God-given gift that can be used either for God's glory or for personal gain. The episode challenges listeners to identify whether they have been entrusted with leadership grace and to consider how they are using their influence in the church, business, government, or community.
The Leadership Creed part 1
2026/06/11
Leadership begins with identity. In this teaching, we explore the biblical truth that every follower of Jesus is called to influence others by leading them to Christ and discipling them in Him. True leadership is not about control, status, or power—it is about serving, loving, and impacting people through Christ-like example. Discover how Jesus redefines leadership and why every believer should see themselves as a leader.
Sacrificial Hearted Leadership
2026/06/04
In the final episode of the Five Levels of Kingdom Leadership series, we explore the highest expression of leadership in God's Kingdom: Sacrificial-Hearted Leadership. Drawing from Matthew 20 and the example of Jesus, this episode unpacks what it means to lead with a willingness to lay down your life for the sake of others. Unlike leaders who are motivated by power, recognition, or personal gain, sacrificial leaders are driven by a deep love for God and people. Through the teachings of Jesus and the example of the Apostle Paul, we discover how true kingdom leadership involves taking responsibility, investing in others, embracing difficult conversations, praying faithfully, and raising up future generations of leaders. This episode challenges listeners to examine their own leadership journey and consider practical steps toward becoming leaders who leave a lasting legacy by pouring themselves out for the benefit of others and the advancement of God's Kingdom.
Slave Hearted Leadership
2026/05/28
In this episode of the Mustard Seed Leadership Podcast, we continue our Five Levels of Kingdom Leadership series by exploring Level Four: Slave-Hearted Leadership. Building on the foundation of servant leadership, this episode dives deeper into Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 20, where He distinguishes between being a servant and becoming a “slave” — the servant of servants.
What does it really mean to be first in God’s Kingdom? According to Jesus, true kingdom captains are not those seeking recognition or influence for themselves, but leaders who invest deeply in empowering others to succeed. Slave-hearted leadership shifts the focus from leading people to strengthening leaders who can then impact others.
Through the example of Jesus washing His disciples’ feet in John 13, we unpack the characteristics of this powerful leadership level: humility, listening, bridge-building, empowering others, recognising potential, and embracing the unseen, sacrificial work that often goes unnoticed.
If you desire to grow beyond influence and become a leader who builds healthy, effective teams for God’s Kingdom, this episode will challenge and inspire you to lead with greater depth, purpose, and humility.
Level 3 : Servant hearted leadership
2026/05/21
In this episode of the Mustard Seed Leadership Podcast, we explore the third level of leadership: Servant Leadership. This concept emphasizes that true leadership is about adding value to others rather than extracting it. Rooted in Matthew 20:26, Jesus teaches that greatness in the kingdom comes from serving humbly. He redefines the path to greatness, contrasting it with worldly values of self-promotion. Servants find their identity in having a master—Jesus Christ—and align their purpose with His goals. The focus remains on the master rather than the servant, echoing John the Baptist's message of humility. Listeners are encouraged to reflect on their leadership styles, consider how they can add value to those around them, and think about what servant leadership looks like in various environments. Adopting this mindset is crucial for personal growth and effective leadership. Tune in next week for deeper insights into leadership. God bless!
Level 2 : Celebrity Leadership
2026/05/14
In Part 7 of the Mustard Seed Leadership Podcast series on the Five Levels of Kingdom Leadership, the focus shifts to “Celebrity Leadership” — a leadership model built on status, titles, privilege, and public recognition rather than genuine service. Drawing from Matthew 20:25 and Matthew 23:5–12, the episode explores Jesus’ warning against leaders who do everything “to be seen by others.”
This episode unpacks how celebrity leadership feeds pride, insecurity, and ego, causing value to flow from people to the leader instead of from the leader to the people. Through practical examples from church culture and leadership environments, listeners are challenged to examine the leadership models they’ve been exposed to and identify signs of celebrity culture in themselves and their communities.
With honesty, biblical insight, and practical reflection questions, this episode calls leaders to reject pride-driven leadership and begin cultivating a culture of humility and servant-hearted leadership — the kind Jesus modeled and commanded.
Level 1 : Controlling leadership
2026/05/07
In Part 6 of the Five Levels of Kingdom Leadership series, the focus shifts to the first and lowest level of leadership: controlling leadership. Drawing from Matthew 20:25 and the story of King Rehoboam in 1 Kings 12, this episode explores how leaders who rely on fear, intimidation, micromanagement, and control may achieve short-term results but ultimately damage people and lose influence over time.
The episode unpacks the root of controlling leadership — insecurity and misplaced identity — and contrasts it with Jesus’ model of servant leadership. Through examples like King Saul’s jealousy toward David, listeners are challenged to examine whether control, comparison, or fear are limiting growth in their leadership.
This episode is a powerful call to repentance, self-awareness, and transformation for anyone who desires to lead in a healthy, Kingdom-centered way. Jesus’ words remain the standard: “Among you it will be different.”
