Episode 36 - The Journey to Draft Three of My Debut Novel
2022/06/28
Welcome to Episode 36, Achievers! In this episode, Ailyn talks about the process of writing her debut novel. From getting the initial idea for the book in March of 2021 to letting go of the second draft in May of 2022, Ailyn reflects on how far she has come and the lessons she has learned along the way. Writing a book isn't easy, but it challenges you to build your own unique creative process. Creating any form of art can look different for everyone. But it can be difficult when you feel stuck in the middle of the process and the finished product is so far out of reach. Ailyn talks through the biggest takeaways of this process since finishing her updated book outline and what she is doing next to keep moving forward. Progress isn't always linear, but as long as you stay consistent and keep creating, you will reach your goals.

Episode 34 - How to Own Your Accomplishments
2022/05/31
Welcome to Episode 34, Achievers! In this episode, Ailyn talks about the importance of talking about yourself and your accomplishments to others. She shares her own struggles with this and how she noticed that she's been pushing aside her success instead of owning it. It's very easy to feel like we can't talk about our accomplishments without becoming arrogant. When we meet someone new or a friend asks about our endeavors, we want to be humble. We may not feel comfortable with the spotlight being on us. But undermining our success takes away our confidence! We need to build confidence in ourselves and learn to talk about what we do with excitement, joy, enthusiasm, and strength. Ailyn takes us through the process of learning how to talk about ourselves in this episode, and she reads excerpts from a great article that have helped her rethink her conversations with others.

Episode 33 - How to Set Intentions For Success
2022/05/17
Welcome to Episode 33, Achievers! In this episode, Ailyn talks about the process of setting intentions. Now that she has entered summer break, Ailyn wanted to go straight to the next productive step on her journey. But she realized that she needed a break, a chance to rest and reset. As she has been working on finding more time for herself, she started to learn about setting intentions and how they can help create a sense of direction, and this was what she was missing. Intentions are larger and more general aspirations of where you want to go next, and your goals are the specific landmarks along the way of that journey with action steps for you to take. Ailyn talks about how she is setting intentions for her overall vision and what that process looks like.

Episode 29 - Getting Rid of Perfection With Freewriting
2022/03/22
Welcome to Episode 29, Achievers! In this episode, Ailyn talks about a writing exercise she did in one of her writing courses that changed a lot for her - freewriting. This is a concept that Peter Elbow talks about in his book, Writing Without Teachers. He focuses on the process of writing rather than the perfect output, and this idea can really help to remove the perfectionist standards that we sometimes focus on when we work on our goals. Whether we expect ourselves to perfectly achieve our goals the first time or in a single work session, perfection can be difficult to cope with no matter where you are in your process. Freewriting can help you let go of these perfect standards and focus on your flowing thoughts. You can breathe easier and find the solutions you need through this process! This episode gives you all the tools you need to have a freewriting session of your own to learn about your own process of work, generate some creative ideas, and get unstuck from perfectionism.
