NFL Draft Reaction: Rams-Ty Simpson, Cowboys-Caleb Downs, Giants & Jets Smart
2026/04/24
Colin is joined by John Middlekauff, host of “3 and Out” to break down the NFL Draft. They start with the Rams drafting Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson at pick #13 and why it was shocking for them to pick him so high after a limited sample size in college, but Colin argues if anyone can turn Simpson into a great quarterback…it’s Sean McVay (3:00). Colin heaps praise on the Cowboys for drafting Caleb Downs and highlights the massive upgrades Dallas has made to their defense rather than paying Micah Parsons (10:30). They agree that the Bucs got great value in taking Reuben Bain at #15 after experts projected him as a top 10 pick (13:45). They discuss the Chiefs moving up to #6 to take cornerback Mansoor Delane and both agree they had no issues with the trade up to get a much cheaper replacement for Trent McDuffie (15:00). Colin argues that both New York teams did well with their combined 4 first round picks and doesn’t see any busts in the group (23:00).  They react to the Titans taking Ohio State WR Carnell Tate at #4, and John believes Tate was a massive reach and that Tate doesn’t have the elite upside that would justify such a high pick (26:00). They both believe that Kadyn Proctor is the most likely Top 15 pick to bust based on reports about his lack of work ethic (29:15).  Colin predicts accurately that the Eagles would take USC wide receiver Makai Lemon after trading up, and says that it's the perfect move to patch the hole that will be left after the team trades AJ Brown (33:00).  They discuss the overall quality of this first round draft class, note that it’s been very offensive line heavy and explain why you can’t go wrong drafting o-line in the first round (39:00).  Finally, they discuss why the Big Ten is leaving the SEC in the dust when it comes to producing first round NFL talent and react live to the late first round picks for the Chargers, Cowboys & more (50:00+).  (Timestamps may vary based on advertisements.) He predicts that the Giants are poised to make a huge jump under John Harbaugh and that Harbaugh is creating a new culture in New York. He also offers suggestions on how the Giants should use their two first round picks (2:30). Then, Colin is joined by Jason Timpf, host of “Hoops Tonight” to break down the NBA playoffs. They also discuss the potential impact on the series if/when Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic return from injury (23:00). They pivot to the Celtics dominating the 76ers and Colin praises the Celtics organization for being able to retool their roster in one season and remain highly competitive. They point to great scouting and player development as the reason Boston has stayed great (29:00). They move to the red hot Nuggets beating the Wolves in game 1 and Colin argues the trio of Jokic, Murray and Gordon are good enough to power the Nuggets to a title (34:45).  Colin argues the Knicks have a flawed roster and are not a championship team and believes the Knicks were at their best when owner James Dolan was busy building The Sphere and not meddling with the team, and Jason argues they have almost no chance against Boston (43:00). Finally, they discuss the new Jerry West documentary and Colin gives it two thumbs up (48:15) and they discuss why the NBA playoffs moving to streaming services was the correct move by the NBA, and debate the concerns over tanking and whether there’s anything the league can do about it (52:30).   (Timestamps may vary based on advertisements.) Rory REPEATS At The Masters, A Tradition Like No Other, Vrabel/Russini Controversy, NFL Draft Preview
2026/04/13
Colin is joined by John Middlekauff, host of “3 and Out” and “Go Low”. They start with Rory McIlroy’s historic repeat, winning back to back at the Masters, and why his win last year took the pressure off and allowed him to play his best golf and now has a chance to become a Top 5 all-time golfer (2:30). They compare Rory’s up-and-down nature on the course to more steady golfers like Tiger & Scheffler, and why he makes for great, drama-filled television (7:00).  They predict Rory will probably win 4-5 more majors in the next few years and debate where he stacks up against the all-time greats (10:00). Colin explains why he’s not typically a traditionalist but loves the tradition of the Masters, and that Augusta National stands out as special (14:30).  They pivot to the Mike Vrabel/Diana Russini controversy, and Colin explains there’s a difference between moral & ethical standards and explains why only standards apply to Vrabel, but both standards apply to Russini as a journalist (24:30).                     They look ahead to the NFL draft and discuss the biggest storylines surrounding the NFL draft and John argues the Chiefs picking high is a fascinating story & could potentially go in several different directions with their pick (35:15).  (Timestamps may vary based on advertisements.) 2026/04/05
Colin is joined by Jason Timpf, host of “Hoops Tonight”. They start with LeBron’s comments disparaging playing in Memphis,  and they agree that LeBron is probably onto something if he struck a nerve to this degree and laud him for being authentic (3:00). Colin argues the Lakers game against OKC where Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves got hurt was about as disastrous of a regular season game there has ever been in the month of April, but the criticism of JJ Reddick is overblown (8:15). They believe the Lakers will be one and done in the postseason after losing two of their stars (16:30). They move to the wild overtime game between the Nuggets & Spurs, and they debate whether the Spurs' youth and inexperience will be their Achilles heel in the postseason and Jason highlights the Spurs inability to stop Jokic could be a problem in round 2 (23:45). They start with Tiger Woods crashing his car in another suspected DUI, and discuss why his value is so high to the PGA and sponsors that they’ll never cut ties with him. They recap Tiger’s history of surgeries and why it’s likely he’s developed a reliance on opioids to deal with chronic pain and that he probably should never be behind the wheel of a car (27:00). They react to the potential of the NFL using replacement referees after contract talks broke down. Colin argues that NFL officials overwhelmingly get calls right and paying full-time officials won’t make the product better, and that the only argument for full-time refs is the NFL has the money. Danny believes HD television with multiple slow-motion replays has been the cause for so much complaining about the refs (33:00).  (Timestamps may vary based on advertisements.) They start with Jaden Ivey being waived by the Chicago Bulls for anti-gay comments he made on social media, and they argue that creating disruptions in the locker room can outweigh other personal issues, that the rules aren’t applied equally to professional athletes based on their production & talent… and Ivey just wasn’t good enough on the court (3:00).  They pivot to Tiger Woods crashing his car in another suspected DUI, and discuss why his value is so high to the PGA and sponsors that they’ll never cut ties with him. They recap Tiger’s history of surgeries and why it’s likely he’s developed a reliance on opioids to deal with chronic pain and that he probably should never be behind the wheel of a car (17:00). Prime Cuts - NFL Free Agency Breakdown, Bam’s Historic 83, Chiefs Land Super Bowl MVP, Lakers BIG Problem
2026/03/14
Colin’s top takes of the week. First, Colin’s joined by '3 & Out' host John Middlekauff to react to all the NFL Free Agency moves.  They start with the Dolphins signing Malik Willis and give their takes on if they like the move for Miami (3:30). Colin kicks it off with Bam Adebayo’s historical 83 point game for the Heat, and Colin argues that the fan blowback wouldn’t be nearly as pronounced if he was more of a flashy type of star player, but Danny argues HOW Bam got the record matters and how he got it didn’t sit right because the game stopped becoming basketball to get him extra chances (24:30).  They dive into how LeBron has been typecast as the guy that makes everything work regardless of his teammates… until now that he’s playing with Luka Doncic and they don’t gel (32:15).
