This Episode’s guests have enjoyed trips to Victory Lane in their most recent outing.  And they share their paths to winning and outlooks for the future. He scored his first career Cup win two weeks ago. He’s Daniel Suarez. When he and Jack chat this week Daniel reflects back on his drive on California’s Sonoma Road Course as well as revealing who was behind the “Taco Piñata” that went with him to Victory Lane. Ben Byrne started his career wheeling enduro cars and now finds himself atop the New Hampshire short track Whitcomb 5 Modified Series. Ben traces his racing career from the first time he showed up at Monadnock Speedway to drive and Enduro event to his recent Modified win at Claremont Speedway Josef Newgarden has scored wins on a street course (Long Beach) an oval (Texas) and a permanent road course (Road America) this season. That accomplishment earned him a $1 Million People Ready Force For Good bonus. When he checks in Newgarden explains how he failed to realize that he earned the award until his post-race cool down lap. He also shares his strategy for the 2nd half of this season.

After an unexpected turn of events, Jack returns with another episode of Wind Tunnel that brings together three drivers that all are focused on winning! 20 year old David Malukas is a Rookie in the NTT IndyCar Series. The Chicago area native is part of Dale Coyne’s 2 car team. He’s embroiled in a tight battle for Rookie of the Year honors and has shown a great deal of promise in his performances through the 1st half of the season. Jack and David unpack his rookie campaign as well as learn about two of his secret ambitions. This weekend SRX heads to South Boston Speedway and the “Short Track Ringer will be NASCAR Short Track National Champion Peyton Sellers who will be stopping be here in a few minutes. Jack and Peyton  will unpack his game plan for his SRX outing and you will learn why he feels it is so important for him to win!   Ryan Preece is a short track superstar that ascended to the top rung of NASCAR when he campaigned a JTG Daugherty Camaro for a couple of years. But When JTG scaled back to just one car this year, Preece was released. He signed on as a RESERVE Driver at Stewart Haas Racing. Ryan returns to Nashville this weekend seeking a win in both NASCAR’s Trucks and Xfinity. When He visits you will get a look at what his SHR duties are and why he believes that he needs to win in order to return to Cup.

This week’s Wind Tunnel brings together three drivers that have an unquenched passion for racing. Two week’s ago, Marcus Ericsson  captured the 106th running of the Greatest Spectacle on Racing THE INDY 500.  He thought he had the race won until a red flag stopped the action and set up a mad dash to the checkered flag. Jack checks in with Marcus to give you some behind the scenes analysis of the race, his post race celebration as well as how he and his manager blew off the King of Sweeden’s celebratory phone call. In this week’s Advance Auto Parts Victory Lap segment you’ll meet a New England modified racer who is chasing his very first track championship as well as a State Title and a 5 race modified series called the Whitcomb 5. Tyler Leary calls Monadnock Speedway home and has already taken down 3 wins there. When we hooked up, we got Tyler’s take on his season as well as his goals for the rest of the year. Christopher Bell rose from the dirt tracks in the Midwest to a career in Trucks and Xfinity. His performances earned him a spot on JGR’s Toyota Cup team. When he and Jack get together C. Bell talks about his progress at JGR and shares his secret “Bucket List” ride.

This post Memorial Day Weekend Wind Tunnel Episode includes highlights from Monaco, Charlotte and Indianapolis. In addition, the eclectic guest list features an 11 year old, an IndyCar Rookie, a Daytona 500 winner and a former racer turned track owner Michael McDowell and his Front Row Motorsports Mustang has been on a roll in 2022. After His Daytona 500 win and a playoff spot one year ago. McDowell has shown what those accomplishments have done for his performances this season. His conversation with jack tackles that benefit as well as his outlook for the rest of the season. More than 10 years ago, Curtis Francois rescued Gateway International Raceway from the demolition Ball and started a transformation of the facility into World Wide Technology Raceway. He and Jack visit and focus on the finish line of that decade long development will cross when the St. Louis area speedway hosts its very first NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend. Juncos Hollinger Racing is a  single car Indy team that has been making a lot of noise this season with their rookie driver from Great Britain, Callum Ilott. Jack checks in with the former Ferrari development driver and they drill down into his decision to come stateside and how he and the team rebound from his Indy 500 crash. You will also meet an 11 year old youngster named Wyatt Flowers,  who went from watching NASCAR on TV in his Palmer Alaska home  to a rudimentary track in his back yard  to a Championship at Alaska Raceway Park.  

In 2001 a young Brazilian driver name Helio Castroneves arrived at the corner of 16th St and Georgetown Rd. in Speedway Indiana. Twenty years later, Helio Castroneves joined racing’s most exclusive Club becoming the only the 4th driver in IndyCar history to win the Greatest Spectacle in racing FOUR times. And this week Castroneves is at the precipice of joining another club….a club of one. As he chases a 5th 500 win. In this week’s Wind Tunnel Episode Jack and Helio trace the energetic divers IndyCar career from the beginning. It is a career that is marked by success casted from happenstance, tragedy and indictment. You’ll learn how all that has changed  the driver known as "SPIDER MAN" and how he believes that it will fuel his drive for five. You’ll also meet a 2nd generation driver who hopes to go one better than his dad.  Scott Riggs is a Virginian late Model Legend. His winning performances played a role in his son Layne Riggs’s decision to follow his dad onto the short track late model scene. Layne is already a proven winner on the circuit including a pair of late Model wins at the South Boston Speedway last weekend, but his goal this season is a NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series National Championship. Something that his father never accomplished. He and Jack unpack Layne’s approach to racing, his goals and the impact  of following a father.      

After a week’s delay due to IT, computer and other assorted issues, Episode 15 is up and ready for your listening pleasure.  The episode examines driving forces that serve as the foundation of passion. They wanted to create a platform where minorities might get the helping hand be it a driving career, a career as a crew member or simply a member of the racing industry. When Max visited with Jack. The unpacked that mission statement, Along the way, Seigel shared his vision as well as his report card on NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program. 19 year old Carson Hocevar has a dream. Like many his age, Carson has his sights set on a career in NASCAR’s Cup Series. He’s presently in his  second full time season in the Camping World Truck Series where he and his Niece Motorsports Chevy are making a lot of noise on the circuit. A pair of consecutive runner-up finishes  in the last two races as well as his entertaining demeanor outside his truck is winning him legions of fans, When he stops by for his Wind Tunnel visit we  will talk about his burning drive to succeed. We also trace his emerging fan signature… his assorted hats that he wears during driver introductions.   Santino Ferrucci burst onto the IndyCar racing scene several years ago and already has earned a reputation as a brash, fearless and fast racer. The Connecticut native now living in the Dallas Ft. Worth area returns for a “one off” drive in this year’s upcoming Indianapolis 500.  Several weeks ago he served notice that his Dryer & Reinbold effort should be counted as a legitimate race winning contender. His Wind Tunnel visit is spiced by Santino’s candid and sometimes humorous self-assessments. All that plus a comprehensive review of 14 days of motorsports action for the worlds of NASCAR, Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series and the NTT IndyCar Series.  

This week, Wind Tunnel visits with a California Teen whose sights are set on climbing up NASCAR’s ladder to the top rung; the Cup Series. Jack visits with an IndyCar Series and “500” champion that started out stocking shelves in his father’s grocery store in France. And, an Xfinity guy that hails from “Sin City”… Las Vegas. And along the way, he has become a fan favorite. 18 year old Dylan Zampa a West Coast Late Model ace burning up the Cali short track scene. Like many of his peers, Dylan’s dream is to one day ascend to the very top of the NASCAR and enjoy a career in NASCAR’s Cip Series. He and Jack talk about that goal as well as the obstacles that loom along the way that can quickly detour that journey. Simon Pagenaud grew up in France and as a youngster worked in his father’s grocery store. To follow his dream Simon moved to America and built his racing resume to the point that he became part of one of IndyCar’s top operations; team Penske. After winning a Series Title as well as an Indy 500, Simon was ushered out of Team Penske and now finds himself part of Meyer Shank Racing. MSR  provide the ride for Helio Castroneves last year that made the Brazilian a FOUR time Indy 500 Champion and along with Pagenaud, chase another 500 win as well as an NTT IndyCar title. Jack’s visit with Simon centers on the game plan as well as Pagenaud’s role at MSR. When Noah Gragson moved East from his Nevada home, he found himself for the first time, miles away from his friends and family. He and Jack talk about how Noah has kept those ties alive as he chases a NASCAR Xfinity Championship driving the number 9 Camaro for Dale Earnhardt’s JRM team. 2They also examine the evolution of Noah’s race craft and his obsession with “buying in bulk”.

This week’s “Wind Tunnel” epsiode goes global as Jack visits with foriegn born drivers who chase their dreams in the U.S. Daniel Suarez was raised in Monterrey Mexico.  As a kid, he dreamed of a NASCAR career and quickly moved up the NASCAR Mexico ladder  eventually moving to the NASCAR Xfinity Series where he snared the Xfinity Championship in his 2nd season. He moved to Cup the following year and last season, he joined TrackHouse Racing. He and Jack  unpack the TrackHouse story and Daniel’s aims for 2022. His real name is Rinus van Kalmthout but to IndyCar fans he’s simply RInus Veekay part of the Ed Carpenter team. Veekay became an IndyCar winner when the Dutchman captured the GMR G.P. last year on the Indy road course.  Rinus shares with Jack where he thinks he has matured as a driver, where he believes his team is much improved and a novel technique he is using to better “connect” with his team strategist. Akinori Ogata moved to the United States from his home country of Japan in  2003  He knew little about American culture and moved to North Carolina with the goal of becoming a NASCAR success. After almost 20 years Ogata scored his first career NASCAR win just a few weeks ago at the Hickory Motor Speedway.

This week’s guests are about as diverse as possible. Josef Newgarden has snared the last 2 IndyCar events first with an electrifying last lap last corner win over his Penske teammate Scott McLaughlin at Texas and then backed it up by capturing the Acura GP of Long Beach. He and Jack talk about his back – to -back wins and Team Penske’s off season improvements.  Josef also shares a moment that happened the day before the race that left him hungrier than ever. The Advance Auto Parts Victory Lap features  teenager Brenden “Butterbean” Queen. Brenden kicked off the 2022 Weekly season and Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway Easter weekend with a come from behind win the season opening 100 lap special for the track’s Late Models If you recall, Brenden visited last season and this time around, He  talks about where he feels his “racecraft” has improved. Yevgen Sokolovoskiy was born in Odessa Ukraine. His passion for racing was nurtured on Motorcycles but 2 years ago he transitioned to 4 wheels when he joined the NASACR Euro Series when he became part of the Marko Stipp racing team. Life for Yevgen since Ukraine was invaded has been one where he keeps trying to balance his  passion for racing with his loyalties to his home in the Ukraine. It is an enlightening conversation that  casts  a different light upon world events.

This week is a little departure from the normal format. But it features a free wheeling, visit with a guy who loves racing and loves NASCAR But does not shy away from saying what he thinks. And, a high school teacher that blends his passion for education with his passion for auto Racing. You will meet Bill Hribar, General Manager of  NASCAR’s newest Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Track The Jennerstown Speedway. He and Jack discuss Jennerstown’s History, it’s commitment to the community and the rich heritage that is Jennerstown Speedway.They also unpack the track’s 2022 plans and how Hribar spends his time away from the classroom overseeing the track that he grew up watching his heroes from the grandstands. And Then, It’s ALL BOWYER – NO LIMITS. Clint Boyer shares how he went from punching a time clock at his father’s Muffler Shop to his current job on Fox Tv’s NASCAR coverage .  He and Jack’s conversation is a wide ranging one with no limits and no filter. Just vintage Clint Bowyer. Along the way, you will hear Boyer give his opinion on NASCAR’s NextGen Car and why he thinks the industry still needs to address some issues with the car especially on the short track. And speaking of short tracks, you’ll want to hear Clint Bowyer’s story about the only trophy that he keeps in his man cave.

This week’s Wind Tunnel features a trio of guests who will give you some insight into the passion of auto racing. Tim Brown has called Bowman Gray Stadium ALL his life. From sitting in the grandstands watching Grandpa tackle that flat ¼ miler to his record setting 11 Advance Auto Parts Track Championships. But Brown’s passion stretches beyond his own racing. He is a crucial member of Roush-Fenway-Keselowski Racing as well. I think you will discover after listening to him, that the key to racing success is the same regardless of the discipline. Ryan Blaney grew up watching his dad Dave Blaney steer his way to the very top of NASCAR’s pyramid. And now, Ryan is there as well, driving the Team Penske Mustang number 12. This weekend at Martinsville Blaney carries the colors of Advance Auto Parts for the first time this season and in addition to he and I talking about that, we also unpack his thoughts about the new NASCAR NextGen car. One year ago, Dane driver Christian Lundgaard was immersed in a pursuit of a Formula One career. He was part of Alpine’s driver development program when he took a holiday in the US to try his hand in the IndyCar Harvest GP on the Indy Road Course, driving for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.   He impressed the entire IndyCar Paddock with his performance and earned a ride with RLL for this year’s IndyCar campaign. That meant that he had to add oval racing to his race craft and I visit with him after in his very first Oval Race, The Expel 375 at the mile and half Texas Motor Speedway. He shares his thoughts on that and we talk about his expectations this weekend in his very first Acura GP on the streets of Long Beach.

In this week’s episode, you meet two drivers that forged their passion for racing at a very early age. For one, it led to his becoming on of racing’s greatest of all time.  For the other,  it ignited a desire to join his father as a champion. Jason Myers grew up watching his father Billy win three Advance Auto Parts Limited Sportsman Championships at South Boston Speedway. So there was never a  doubt that Jason would follow his dad and chase So Bo titles. He and Jack trace his progress and his plan to notch his first Sportsman title at South Boston this season. Jimmie Johnson was a youngster in El Cajon, California when he was bitten by the tracing bug. From motorcycles to off road racing Johnson worked up the ladder eventually reaching the stock car racing pinnacle, NASCAR’s Cup Series. Over his stock car career, Jimmie earned a record tying 7 Cup Championships equaling the  tally set by both Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. After walking away from the NASCAR world, Johnson tackled IndyCars, running the Series’ road courses last season while attempting to acquire the skill set necessary to excel. When he and Jack sit down, Jimmie shares his progress and why he decided to challenge himself and compete full time this season on the NTT IndyCar circuit.
