Description
Welcome to the Harvest Men Podcast. We believe like never before that Christian men need other Christian men to grow and stand strong in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Are you standing strong? There are no successful "Lone Ranger" Christians, and if you want to grow in your knowledge of God’s Word and grow in your own faith, then join us weekly with other men who love God, love God’s Word, and want to make a strong stand for Jesus in their own lives. Each week, we will share thoughts to reinforce our Bible Study and discussion time as we collaborate with Pastor Greg Laurie’s weekly teaching through the Bible. Learn more at harvest.church.

When Life Takes an Unexpected Turn — Mike Jonker
2026/10/18
We know it takes a lot for men to read a book titled “Ruth”, unless they think it is a biography of Home Run Hall of Famer Babe Ruth.
The Old Testament book of Ruth is not only a story about a woman.
It's a story about a legacy.
It’s the story of an incredible young woman who puts her hope in God.
It's a story about a knight in shining armor.
It's the story of a family, with a crowning heritage! In this story is the story of Jesus Christ!
There are some people, whose stories are “inescapably incredible”.
Rags-to-riches story, or the Don Quijote, story of “dreaming the impossible dream…fighting the unfightable foe, running where the brave dare not go…..
The story of Ruth is one of these stories!
This story is like a modern-day immigrant family triumph. Someone whose family has come from Viet Nam, Iran ,or Armenia, with nothing, and had their dreams come true.
Ultimately it is part of the greatest story ever told!!
This is the front story in the book of Ruth.
I want us to look at the first 5 verses of the book of Ruth. And I want tell you upfront, this story has a glorious ending.
The end, is better, than the beginning!
For us as Christians, that is what we all should want, desire, and expect!
It is the Christian life that is the greatest life.
It is the Christian life… that offers the greatest joys, and the greatest hopes, and the greatest future!
Jeremiah 29:11-12
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
Our lives will be, and should be, an ascent to greater things and greater glory.

Book of Ruth Introduction — KC McCauley
2026/10/11
In this episode, Pastor KC McCauley kicks off our 7-week study with an introduction on two themes that run through the whole book: God’s providence and kindness. It’s set in the same dark days as Judges, but this time we see God working through one faithful family to bring them from famine to fullness. That family line leads to King David, and ultimately to Jesus, our true kinsman Redeemer. We’ll also see great examples of biblical manhood and womanhood in Boaz and Ruth. Let’s lean into this study, because discipleship happens together!

What or Who Determines what Shapes You? — Ron Case
2026/10/04
These final chapters remind us that the Bible does not hide the failures of God’s people; but rather tells the truth about what happens when people reject God’s authority and do what is right in their own eyes. We will see sin spreading, spiritual compromise growing and moral chaos as a result. Though Israel lacked good leadership, even worse, they rejected God as their King. Judges points us to our need for the righteous and perfect King, Jesus, and calls us to stay rooted, grounded, and surrendered to Him and His Word.

Samson: Strength, Compromise, and a Second Chance — Gabe Velasquez
2026/09/27
What if the greatest threat to your calling isn’t a lack of strength—but a lack of self-control? And what happens when compromise slowly takes you farther from God than you ever intended to go?
In this episode of the Valor Podcast, Pastor Gabe Velasquez takes us into Judges 13–16 to uncover the story of Samson—a man chosen by God, empowered by the Spirit, and given incredible potential, yet repeatedly undone by his own desires.
Samson was strong enough to tear apart a lion, defeat armies, and carry the gates of a city—but he struggled to control his eyes, his anger, and his appetites. His story shows us how compromise is progressive, how private sin can have public consequences, and how power without purity is a dangerous combination.
But Samson’s story doesn’t end in failure.
In the darkest chapter of his life, when he was blind, broken, and imprisoned, Samson turned back to God. His hair began to grow again. He prayed. And God answered.
Samson’s life is both a warning and a hope. A warning that a great beginning doesn’t guarantee a great ending—and a hope that no matter how far we have fallen, God is still the God of second chances.
If you’ve ever wondered whether God can still use you after failure, this episode is for you.
Let’s learn from Samson. Let’s walk in purity as well as power. And let’s finish well.

The Evil and the Foolish — Paul Eaton
2026/09/20
The downward spiral of Israel’s disobedience continues until we meet the evil Abimelech, and the foolish Jephthah who make and things even worse. The chilling thing about this study is when God says, “Therefore, I will deliver you no more.”

The Lesson of the 300 — KC McCauley
2026/09/13
In Session 3 we consider the story of Gideon—a weak but strong leader, a fearful but faithful judge, a Spirit-empowered yet prideful victor. In this episode, we’ll learn "The Lesson of the 300"—how Gideon's story reminds us that God's mission is accomplished through Spirit-empowered people, not through numbers or strength. If God used Gideon, He can use anyone. And as God uses us, we must consider how we should respond to success.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly — Pastor Mike Jonker
2026/08/30
Join us as we delve into the Old Testament book of Judges with Pastor Mike.
Judges sits right between two major chapters in Israel's history: the epic story of God rescuing His people from Egypt through Moses and Joshua to lead them into the Promised Land, and the rise of the great monarchy with kings like Saul, David, Hezekiah, and Josiah.
If you appreciate gritty, action-packed, and dramatic stories like The Odyssey or Gladiator, you will love Judges. It captures the full spectrum of the human experience—from the thrilling highs of triumph to the heartbreaking reality of defeat.
The Apostle Paul reminded the early church in 1 Corinthians 10 that the stories of the Old Testament serve as real-life examples for us today. Judges isn't just ancient history or fiction; it's a raw reflection of our own spiritual battles.
Through these stories, we discover vital lessons about walking faithfully with Jesus, fulfilling our God-given purpose, and stepping into His blessings. At the same time, we see the tragic consequences and mess we can create when we choose to be disobedient and ignore God’s guidance.

Book of Judges Introduction — Pastor KC McCauley
2026/08/24
Harvest Groups are back, and we're kicking off a brand-new study through the books of Judges and Ruth. In this introductory episode, Pastor KC McCauley explores why these two Old Testament books belong together and how they reveal God's faithfulness in both national crisis and personal redemption. During one of the darkest seasons in Israel's history, when everyone "did what was right in their own eyes," God continued to work through flawed leaders and faithful families, ultimately revealing God’s plan of salvation in Christ—our true Judge and Redeemer.

Valor Summer Series Session 6 - Greg Becker
2026/07/28
In session 6 of our summer study, Greg Becker (Deacon at Riverside Campus) shares how Stronger Men speak like fathers and listen like sons. You must recognize the importance of using your mouth and ears—to speak wisely and to listen deeply. Your words can be a prison or a platform, so choose to encourage, comfort, and urge others. The strongest men aren’t always the ones with something to say; they’re the men who know when to speak and when to listen. This study covers Weeks 10 & 11 of Son: Set Free to Love.

Valor Summer Series Session 4 - Pastor Mike Amren
2026/07/08
In Session 4 of our summer study, Pastor Mike Amren answers two important questions: Who am I? How do I relate to God? Drawing from the baptism of Jesus, we are approved and affirmed as sons in Christ. As seen in the Lord’s prayer, we are now invited as sons to call upon our Father in Heaven—He is relational and accessible. This study covers Weeks 6 & 7 of Son: Set Free to Love.

Valor Summer Series Session 3 - Ken Sims
2026/07/02
In Session 3 of our summer study, Ken Sims (Deacon at Riverside Campus) shares about lost sons being found and adopted sons being assured. With application from the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15), we see how the spiritually dead are now alive—we are sons and members of God’s household, receiving the blessings and benefits of adoption (Ephesians 1:3-6). Stronger men run home to the Father and help other lost sons and brothers do the same. This study covers Weeks 4 & 5 of Son: Set Free to Love.

Valor Summer Series Session 2 - Nathan Delong
2026/07/01
In Session 2 of our summer study, Nathan Delong (Deacon at Riverside Campus) shares about how the curse can be reversed in Christ. The Old Testament ends with a need: for the hearts of fathers and children to be turned to each other (Malachi 4:5-6). And this is ultimately met through the person and work of Christ, who provides redemption for our greatest need (1 Peter 1:18-19). If we want to reverse the curse, we need to: Revive (restore the men), Revere (fear the Lord), and Redirect (your past doesn’t determine your future). This study covers Weeks 2 & 3 of Son: Set Free to Love.
