Whenever it seems like the Hollow can be beat, she finds a way and this week, that way is Kol. And somehow she teamed up with Kol on the smartest day of his entire life! Rebekah tries to work with Kol, but gets trapped with her soulmate and they both have to pretend to hate it. Freya and Hayley get ready to kill the Hollow in her evil home, but of course she has some hallucinations prepped to both break Hayley’s spirit and make us boo a familiar face. Freelin shippers also get quite the jump scare! Klaus travels across the city to keep plans moving and shows mercy, which will all be worth it to celebrate a victory with his daughter. This week, we venture deep into Elijah’s mind and WOOF! It’s a hallway of doors to repress memories and you better believe one is red! While Freya, Hayley, and Hope work on that, Kol and Rebekah arrive home to help Klaus destroy the rosebush thorns. Unfortunately, both Kol and Rebekah get distracted by their exes. This week we have an old TVD favorite that is new to the Originals: a good old fashioned martyr-off! With Elijah in danger, and the Hollow threatening Vincent, we need a plan STAT. This week, we finally learn the origin story of The Hollow, which also comes with ANOTHER origin story, for a very relevant curse. In search of answers, Klaus and Hayley head to the Ancestral Plane, where they reunite with Klaus’s #1 opp, Davina, who has a strong vision for the day. Bones are gathered quickly this week thanks to help from a visitor from Mystic Falls - Alaric Saltzman! Bone reveal: finger and femur. After the drama of the murder at last week’s party, Klaus and Hayley stay trapped in the compound with Hope to stay safe. Hope, of course, finds a way to have fun by making a new friend: her brother Marcel who is excited to connect with the family he desperately wants to rejoin. Freya and Elijah both pursue their own independent plans, one better than the other. Freya enlists Josh to take on the Hollow’s witch and get answers, and Elijah straight up murders teenagers which is somehow Vincent’s problem. It’s Mardi Gras, the perfect time to final clean up the Mikaelson compound and host a party that has an ulterior motive! Marcel is listed as the co-host despite being in the dungeon - luckily, at least Josh could put 2 and 2 together and figure that out. Marcel’s other ally, Sofya, isn’t quite so effective - she leaves the party with no weapons, no Marcel and no leverage, despite being motivated by classic Klaus hate! Elijah and Vincent use the party to locate (and kill) The Hollow’s newest lead acolyte, through the magic of tarot. Across town, Hayley and Freya uncover a huge clue, courtesy of the Labonairs. After the drama of last week, we have to really focus on understanding the Hollow and that whole deal.The Hollow has its hooks in Klaus and Marcel, and they definitely don’t feel the need to get too creative with shapeshifting characters. But they do make some good headway Meanwhile, Elijah and Hayley head to the bayou with Hope, and Mary is less than pleased to see Elijah. But her day only gets worser because she may actually know the hollow better than she thought. Yeah, let’s get more crescent lore, ok. The Mikaelsons return to New Orleans for what should never have been a quick spell, but things do not go as planned, because Will Kinney is evil now! Hayley and Marcel head to the bayou to investigate a wolf who is involved for some reason? Klaus, Elijah, and Vincent find their way into the woods for a mysterious ritual that looks pretty focused on killing kids. While trying to stop the ritual, Klaus and Marcel get trapped in creepy blue Hollow land, where they try their best to avoid looking at the blue light (per Hope’s instructions), but it proves tempting. The family is reunited and away from New Orleans, so now comes the scary part for Klaus: actually being a father! Luckily she likes to paint and walk through the woods, while Elijah and Hayley flirt and Kol and Rebekah plan their future as non series regulars. We learn more about the evil orb and Vincent’s life before all these people f****d with him, and see this new entity in new and familiar forms. Despite Marcel’s hard work, the Mikaelsons simply cannot avoid New Orleans, even though they may HOPE to be free. And finally, the Freelin agenda continues to grow! With all the Mikaelsons up from their 5 year nap, they get right to their number one priority: rescuing Klaus!
