The topic for this podcast originated from a phone conversation I had with a friend several months ago. This was just after then-President Trump had said something that made everyone sure he was going to have a significant drop in his fan-base numbers. And yet the polls had come out to say that, once again, his base was sticking with him. As I discussed this with my friend, he asked a question I had wondered about since 2016 but I still hadn’t found an answer for. He asked, “what is it about Trump loyalists that, no matter what he does or says, they will stay with him?” This podcast tries to answer that questions

I called this episode If Left Was Right for three reasons The first is If Left was Right means the same as if up was down, back was front, good was bad, Republicans were honest. It means I want to turn certain narratives on their head, to take the heart of all of the misinformation that the radical Right spews out, turn it around, and send it right back to them. The second turn of the phrase of “If Left was Right” is “If the Left was Correct or Accurate” As in, if everything the Left believed about the Right was true. This podcast will show what that would sound like. The last turn of phrase probably has the deepest meaning for me. If Left Was Right here means here is what would happen if the Left used the same techniques to spin divisive, infuriating stories like the Right constantly does. It’s closer to meaning “If the Left acted like the Right.”
