Several months ago, I hosted a series of Clubhouse Conversations on topics that I personally wanted to explore with people who have had a great impact on my life and career. This is part one in a four part series of candid discussions with several luminaries across multiple creative disciplines. "Becoming Visible" is inspired by one of  Chris Martin’s podcast on “Getting Work to Work” about professional jealousy.  I am thrilled to share this incredible panel of powerful experts discussing worthiness and how to accept the discomfort that accompanies being seen with  Chris Martin, Curiosity Builder, Filmmaker, Podcaster, and Storyteller,  Matt Wood Creative/Artist and Illustrator and Brent McCowan Creative Director.

This is a special episode of a zoom call that was accidentally recorded between two lifelong friends. It’s an intimate look into holding space, crisis and how we emerge changed. The Ordeal- We stand at the precipice of a life or death crisis, with Graphic Designer Troy Coleman as he faces his greatest fears. and succumbs to the experience of death. Only though this unraveling can the hero be reborn into his future self.  A new state of consciousness is needed to give him the power and insight to see his journey all the way through to the very end.

I interview  fierce seeker, spreader of joy, graphic designer, artist, printmaker, collagist, and mixed media artist SweetPea Cole. We talk about  what happens when the hero “Refuses the Call”.

What motivates you to speak up instead of shrinking back?  When you feel intimidated, how do you overcome the fear? Oblivious of the adventures to come, in a safe place the hero begins their journey. Everyday life calls the hero to action.  For the next 12 months I will follow the hero’s journey  (inspired by Joseph Campbell) through the experiences and tribulations of visionaries, known and unknown. I begin with Tameca L. Coleman, writer, massage therapist, singer & artist. The call to action may or may not be dramatic  a phone call, a conversation, an accident. Whatever the event, it disrupts  and challenges the hero’s “Ordinary Word”.
