448 | I'll Rest After the Holidays...and Other Lies We Tell Ourselves, ft Carlie Zacharuk
2026/10/18
You know when you look at everything between now + the end of the year and think... I’ll rest after the holidays. After the deadlines. After the shopping. After the gatherings. After everyone + everything has been taken care of. But here’s what I want you to consider: What if the season when you think you have the least time to rest is actually the season when you need it most? And what if rest was never meant to be something you earned by getting everything else done? If you’re ready to stop squeezing everything into your day and start making room for what matters most—including rest—my FREE Time Stewardship Starter Kit will help you move from a productive day to a PURPOSEFUL day in just five simple blocks. When Doing All the Right Things Still Isn’t Working My guest this week, Carlie Zak || Vitality Habits™, knows what it’s like to do all the right things and still end up running on empty. She’s a Canadian, mountain-loving mom of two boys, an entrepreneur + the founder of Vitality Habits. She was building a business, caring for her family, working out, eating well...doing what she thought she was supposed to do. And then… she burned out. What followed was a seven-year journey of discovering something that challenges the way many of us approach both our health + our time: Consistency isn’t always about more discipline. Sometimes it’s about getting back into alignment with how God designed us to live. And that’s where our conversation gets really interesting. Because Carlie and I discovered that we had much more in common than our entrepreneurial drive. We had both learned what happens when our bodies start telling us something our busy minds don’t want to hear. And we had both come to recognize that the solution goes much deeper than a better schedule, a healthier routine, or a vacation. What If Rest Isn’t Something You Have to Earn? Here’s something worth considering: God established rhythms of work + rest before sin entered the world. Rest wasn’t His response to human exhaustion. It was part of His original design. And in Hebrews 4, we’re reminded that God’s invitation to enter His rest isn’t merely something for another day. It’s for TODAY. Not when your work is finished. Not when everyone else is taken care of. Not after the holidays. Today. But what does it actually look like to live + work from that place of rest when your calendar is full and people are counting on you? That’s exactly what Carlie and I explore in this conversation. What You’ll Discover in This Conversation * Why even healthy habits can become another form of striving. * How our desire to control outcomes can keep us from receiving the rest God offers. * Why the weeks when we’re stretched the thinnest may actually be the weeks we need more rest—not less. * How rest + productivity aren’t necessarily opposites. * A simple 15-minute rhythm to recognize when you’re out of alignment and return to what matters. Carlie also shares a particularly powerful part of her own story—what happened when she finally realized she couldn’t keep living the way she thought she was supposed to. And why the answer wasn’t simply trying harder. Subscribe to REDEEM Her Time for conversations like this in your inbox. Sacred Truth | Rest Is Part of Faithful Stewardship We often approach rest as something we’ll get around to once we’ve been faithful with everything else. But what if receiving rest is itself an act of faithfulness? God created us with limits. We need sleep. We need nourishment. We need time to be still, to connect, to receive. Those limitations aren’t evidence that something is wrong with us. They’re reminders that we were never meant to do life apart from Him. And when we ignore those limits in the name of getting more done—even when we’re doing good things—we can find ourselves working against the very design God gave us. Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic. And that includes how we steward our need to be filled + rested. Stewardship Practice | Give Rest a Place Before the Holidays Here’s one thing I want to invite you to do this week. Before you add another holiday commitment, year-end project, or responsibility to your calendar, pause and ask: Lord, what is it time for? Then consider where you need to intentionally make room to REFILL—not just POUR OUT. Maybe it’s a few quiet minutes with the Lord before the day begins. Maybe it’s stepping away from your desk instead of pushing through. Maybe it’s protecting your evening from becoming another opportunity to catch up on everything you didn’t finish. You don’t have to overhaul your entire schedule. But you do need to stop treating rest like something that only matters if there’s time left over. That’s why I created the FREE REDEEM Her Time Starter Kit. It helps you move from a productive day to a PURPOSEFUL day using five simple blocks: * Morning REFILL — Begin your day being filled + rested. * Daily POUR OUT blocks — Intentionally make room for your work + service. * Evening REFILL — End your day with rhythms that restore you. Because a purposeful day isn’t just about what you accomplish. It’s about how you live + who you’re becoming over time. Today’s Stewardship Question Where have I been treating rest as a reward for getting everything done instead of part of what God has entrusted me to steward? Take a moment to consider that question with the Lord. And if you’re willing, share what you’re noticing in the comments. I’d love to hear what He’s showing you. A Gift From Carlie | Your 15-Minute Realignment Rhythm One of my favorite practical takeaways from this conversation is Carlie’s approach to creating a simple rhythm you can return to when you recognize that something is off. And she’s generously sharing her FREE Realignment Rhythm resource with you. You’ll get her worksheet, an example of her personal rhythm + a video walking you through how to begin creating one of your own. GET CARLIE’S FREE REALIGNMENT RHYTHM I’m personally going through Carlie’s Vitality Habits program right now, and it’s been such a valuable part of tending to my own wellness in this season. You can learn more about her work at Vitality Habits. Before You Go... The holidays are coming. And yes, there’s going to be a lot to do. But you don’t have to wait until January to begin living differently. What if this is the year you stop promising yourself you’ll rest later—and start giving rest a faithful place today? Start with one day. Five simple blocks. Room to REFILL + POUR OUT. Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic. Get full access to REDEEM Her Time® at lissafiggins.substack.com/subscribe
447 | Before You Plan the Holidays, Ask This One Question
2026/10/11
It’s October. And somehow, you may already be carrying December in your head. Who’s hosting Thanksgiving? When will everyone get together? What needs to happen at church? What are you buying? What are you cooking? What needs to happen in your business before everyone checks out for Christmas? Which traditions are you keeping? Which invitations are coming? And somewhere underneath all of that, maybe you’ve already made yourself a quiet promise: This year, I want to actually be present for it. Because you remember what happened last year. You were there. You bought the gifts. Made the food. Kept the traditions. Got everyone where they needed to be. Kept the work moving. You made the holidays happen. But maybe you weren’t really there for as much of it as you wanted to be. The danger isn’t that you can’t do it If you’re a high-capacity woman, here’s what makes this season especially tricky: You probably CAN pull it all off. You can organize it. Host it. Remember it. Fix it. Volunteer for it. Find a place for it on the calendar. That’s why the question most of us start asking this time of year can lead us in the wrong direction: How am I going to fit all of this in? Because there’s an assumption hiding inside that question. All of this belongs. But…What if it doesn’t? Or what if something belongs, but doesn’t need to look the way it always has? Or what if something God has entrusted to you shouldn’t automatically get pushed to January just because the holidays are coming? That’s the conversation we’re having on this week’s REDEEM Her Time podcast. And I’m giving you one question I want you to ask before you start planning the season—one that could change the way you walk through not only the holidays, but any busy season when everything starts competing for your time + attention.Because I have a feeling you already know what you don’t want: Another holiday season that feels more hustle + bustle than holy. That’s exactly why we’re gathering Tuesday, October 13 for Hustle & Bustle → Holy, a done-with-you Holiday Stewardship Planning workshop inside Stewardship Circle. Paid subscribers get a FREE ticket. What if we’re starting in the wrong place? We’ve been talking a lot around here about sacred + strategic time stewardship. And here’s what that means as we head toward the end of the year: Your calendar doesn’t get to decide what matters. But that’s often where we start. We look at November + December and immediately start placing things: This goes here. We’ll travel then. I’ll have to get that done before this. I’ll squeeze that in here. Before we know it, we’re solving a scheduling problem without ever stopping to ask whether everything we’re scheduling was actually ours to carry. That’s backwards. Because we’re not sovereign over our time. God is. We’re stewards. And Scripture tells us what is required of stewards: “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”— 1 Corinthians 4:2 Not capable of doing everything. Not indispensable. Not impressive. Faithful with what has actually been entrusted to us. And that’s where the question I unpack in the episode begins to change things. Paid subscribers get a FREE ticket to Hustle & Bustle → Holy. There’s another cost we don’t usually calculate We tend to think the cost of overcommitting is exhaustion. And yes, it can be. But there’s another cost I think is especially important as we approach Christmas: presence. We’re about to enter a season centered on remembering Emmanuel—God with us. And it can become the season when we’re least with anyone. Our body is at dinner. Our mind is making tomorrow’s list. We’re sitting at the Christmas program thinking about the emails we haven’t answered. We’re wrapping one gift while mentally shopping for three more. We’re technically present everywhere... while our attention is scattered everywhere else. The incarnation is infinitely bigger than a lesson about being present. Jesus came to save His people from their sins. But surely a season intentionally remembering God with us should cause us to consider whether we’re actually living attentive to the God who is with us—and to the people + responsibilities He has placed in front of us. Sometimes the cost of carrying too much isn’t failure. It’s presence. And friend, I don’t want us figuring that out on December 23. Before the hustle + bustle decides for you... That’s why we’re doing something about it now. On Tuesday, October 13, we’re gathering inside Stewardship Circle for: Hustle & Bustle → Holy This is a done-with-you Holiday Stewardship Planning workshop. We’re not starting with a prettier holiday calendar. We’re going to slow down before we schedule anything, discern what God has actually entrusted to us in this season, and then build a plan around what matters in the real time + capacity we have. You’ll leave with your Holiday Stewardship Plan built—not another list of good ideas you’re supposed to implement on your own. And here’s the best part: Paid REDEEM Her Time subscribers get a FREE ticket to the workshop. So if you’ve been reading + listening for free and you’ve been wondering when it makes sense to step inside Stewardship Circle... this is a really good time. Upgrade now and come do this with us Tuesday. And if you’re finding this after October 13, you’ll get the Hustle & Bustle → Holy replay + Holiday Stewardship Planning Guide so you can still build yours before the busyness decides for you. Before you plan anything... For today, don’t redo your calendar. Don’t start crossing things off. And don’t make another holiday list. Just notice: What have I already assumed I’m responsible for? Then hit play on the episode. Because before you ask: Where am I going to fit all of this? I want to give you one question to ask first. And I have a feeling it may change what makes it onto the calendar in the first place. Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic. 446 | When It Looks Like Nothing Is Happening, Something Deeper May Be Growing, ft Emily Johnson
2026/10/04
You’ve prayed. You’ve done what you know to do. You’ve tried to be faithful. But the answer still hasn’t come. The person hasn’t changed. The door hasn’t opened. When you’re used to making things happen, waiting can feel a lot like nothing is happening. But what if you’re measuring growth by the wrong thing? In this conversation, I’m joined by licensed professional counselor + Plant + Water founder Emily Johnson to talk about what happens beneath the surface when we find ourselves in a season we can’t fix, control or hurry through. We talk about what waiting can reveal in us, why roots are growth too, and the difference between faithfully tending what God has entrusted to us + trying to produce an outcome that was never ours to control. And we come back to one question I think is worth carrying into whatever you’re waiting on: What is mine to tend...and what is God’s to grow? Because what if the evidence that God is working isn’t always that your circumstances are changing? What if sometimes the evidence is that YOU are changing? 445 | Your Week Doesn't Need to Be Ideal to Be Faithful
2026/09/27
You planned the week. You blocked the time. Made room for what matters. Maybe even left yourself a little margin. Then Tuesday happened. The meeting ran long. Someone needed you. You had less energy than expected. Something took twice as long as you planned. And suddenly you're wondering: Why can't I ever seem to follow the week I planned? But what if following the plan perfectly was never the goal? I used to teach women to build an Ideal Week. But as my understanding of biblical time stewardship deepened, I realized I wasn't actually trying to help women create an ideal week. I wanted to help them build a faithful one. In this episode, we're talking about: Why an Ideal Week can quietly become another standard you feel like you're failing What God's faithfulness has to do with the way we steward our weeks Why a Faithful Week isn't a week you execute perfectly The difference between planning for an ideal life and stewarding the life God has actually entrusted to you Three shifts that change the way you build your week: Priorities Before Plans, Anchors Before Time Blocks + Margin Before More How to return instead of restart when real life changes the plan Because you don't need a week that only works when everything goes according to plan. You need a rhythm you can faithfully return to. BUILD YOUR FAITHFUL WEEK WITH ME In just two days, I'm hosting the Faithful Week Live Build Experience, and I want you there. Bring your calendar + the life you're actually living, and I'll walk you through building a flexible weekly rhythm around what God has entrusted to you in this season. 444 | What If God Asks You to Surrender Something That’s Working? ft Rachel Ngom
2026/09/20
What if God asked you to walk away from something that was working? Not because you failed. Not because the business wasn’t profitable. Not because you couldn’t handle it. But because what had been yours to faithfully steward in one season…wasn’t necessarily yours to keep carrying into the next. That’s part of Rachel Ngom’s story. By the world’s standards, Rachel had built the dream: a seven-figure business, systems that worked + a schedule that required only about twenty hours a week. Then God began asking her to lay it down. And what followed challenged a question I think many ambitious, high-capacity Christian women need to wrestle with: What happens when success is no longer enough to tell us whether something still deserves our yes? Because something can be working. It can be profitable. It can be making an impact. It can even be something God previously asked us to build. And it can still be time to ask: Lord, is this still what You’ve entrusted to me in this season? In this conversation... Rachel + I talk about what happened when she stopped letting success determine whether she was on the right path—including why she now defines success as obedience, what three years of surrender changed in her + why “assumption is not obedience.” We also get into the difference between working from rest + working from toil, what healthy ambition looks like when God is leading, and why something can be good + godly without necessarily being yours for this season. And one of my favorite parts of our conversation: what if God is just as interested—or even more interested—in what He’s producing in you as what He’s producing through you? And I especially love where our conversation goes around ambition. Because I don’t believe the answer is that Christian women should stop wanting to build, grow, lead or accomplish meaningful things. You don’t have to become less ambitious to become a faithful steward. But faithful stewardship does require holding that ambition with open hands. It means being willing to ask God not only: What do You want me to build? But also: Is this still mine?Is this still for now? What are You asking me to release?Who are You forming me to become as I steward what You’ve placed in my hands? Because “I can keep doing this” isn’t the same question as “God is asking me to keep doing this.” Capability isn’t calling. Success isn’t necessarily confirmation. And sometimes faithfulness looks like building, growing + going all in.Sometimes it looks like releasing something that is still working. The question is what faithfulness requires in this season. Listen to my conversation with Rachel, then take this question with you: Lord, is this still what You’ve entrusted to me? Because success isn’t ultimately ours to control. We can faithfully steward the yes. God gets to hold the outcome. Grab Rachel’s Kingdom Profit Plan If Rachel’s approach to building a profitable business without hustle resonated with you, she has a free resource to help you put it into practice. 443 | What Keeps Getting Your “Not Now”?
2026/09/13
It’s a Thursday afternoon. You open your planner and there it is again—the thing you said you’d do Monday. Monday got full.Tuesday somebody needed something.Wednesday got away from you. Now it’s Thursday, and if we’re honest, you’re already thinking: Maybe next week. It’s not that it doesn’t matter. You keep saying it does. But somehow it keeps getting a: Not now. And sometimes not now is exactly the faithful answer. Because everything can matter without everything being for right now. But what about the thing that keeps getting a not now? That’s a different question. Consider Your Ways High-capacity women can be especially prone to this. You can carry a lot. So you keep the meeting. Respond to the client. Handle the problem. Take care of what someone else is waiting on. Meanwhile, the thing without the deadline quietly moves to tomorrow. Then Friday. Then next week. But here’s the distinction I’ve been thinking about: “I can” is a capacity statement.“Should I?” is a stewardship question. And stewardship doesn’t begin with What matters to me? It begins with God: What has He actually entrusted to me to faithfully steward in this season? There’s a fascinating moment in Haggai 1 where God’s people had been given something very specific to do: rebuild the temple. Yet their refrain had become: “The time has not yet come…” Not never. Not now. And God’s response through Haggai was: “Consider your ways.” There’s important context here. Your business project isn’t the temple. Your workout isn’t the temple. Something being important to you doesn’t make it a command from God. But Haggai raises a question worth considering: Could I be continually saying “not now” to something God has given me to steward, while finding plenty of “now” for other legitimate things? That’s where this week’s conversation goes—and there’s a part later in Haggai 1 that keeps this from becoming another try harder and get your priorities straight message. It’s actually my favorite part. 🎧 CLICK PLAY ABOVE TO LISTEN TO THE FULL EPISODE A God-Led Yes Still Needs a Place Here’s something you can practice before you even listen: Look at one thing you’ve continually been moving forward. Don’t immediately squeeze it into tomorrow. First ask: Is this actually mine to steward in this season? If the answer is no—or not now—release it. But if, through Scripture, prayer and wisdom, you discern that the answer is yes, there’s another question: Where will I give this faithful yes a place? Because good intentions don’t create time. And discernment isn’t meant to end with this matters. A God-led yes still needs a place to live. Not every minute accounted for. Not a rigid schedule you have to serve. A faithful place in the actual time God has entrusted to you. If you’re not sure what’s actually yours... That’s exactly where I’d have you start. The free REDEEM Her Time Starter Kit will help you begin with God, discern what deserves your yes today, and give those priorities a place using the five Time Anchor Zones. You’ll also become a free REDEEM Her Time subscriber, so we can keep practicing this together each week. Ready to Practice Your Faithful Yes? Knowing what is yours is one thing. Living it when real life starts competing for that time is another. That’s exactly what we’re practicing beginning Tuesday, September 15, in 30 Faithful inside Stewardship Circle. Not 30 new things to do. One faithful yes. Discerned with God.Given a place.Practiced in real life. And when the plan changes? You don’t fall behind. You learn to return. 30 Faithful is the only 30-day challenge you can’t fall behind in. And if you’re finding this after September 15, don’t wait for another clean starting line. You’re not behind. Come join us and start right where you are. For today, consider your ways: What keeps getting your “not now”? Bring it before God. Is this actually mine to steward? And if it is: When will I give it a place? Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic. Get full access to REDEEM Her Time® at lissafiggins.substack.com/subscribe
442 | One Simple Practice to Stop Starting Over Every Monday
2026/09/06
You made the plan. You knew what mattered. You gave it a place on the calendar. Then… Tuesday happened. Something took longer than expected. Someone needed you. An appointment moved. A problem landed in your inbox. And suddenly, the week you planned isn’t the week you’re living. So you start moving things (of course, cuz that’s what planners do). Tuesday’s unfinished work goes to Wednesday. Wednesday was already full, so something gets pushed to Thursday. The margin disappears. The laptop comes back out after dinner. And by Friday, you’re thinking: I’ll start again Monday. But here’s what I want you to notice: You probably don’t struggle to start. You’re a capable woman. You know how to make the list, block the calendar, set the alarm, buy the planner. The harder part is knowing what to do when you’ve made a good plan... and real life doesn’t follow it. That’s what we’re talking about in this week’s episode—and the shift may change what you do the next time your Tuesday at 10 doesn’t go according to plan. When a good plan becomes something you’re serving Proverbs 16:9 says: “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” Scripture doesn’t tell us not to plan. Planning can absolutely be an act of wise stewardship. But we make Sunday’s plan without knowing what Tuesday will hold. God doesn’t. And somewhere between Sunday and Tuesday, a plan we prayerfully made with God can quietly become something we’re trying to hold together ourselves. That’s led me to a question I haven’t been able to shake: Could my frustration when the plan changes sometimes reveal that I was trusting the plan more than the One I made the plan with? Because maybe faithfulness isn’t measured by how closely Tuesday resembles the plan you made for it on Sunday. And maybe “getting back on track” isn’t actually what God is asking of you. That’s the shift I unpack in this week’s episode. What if you don’t have to “make up” the time? Here’s something else to notice. When an unexpected problem takes the three hours you’d planned to use for something else, what happens next? Often, those three hours become a debt. You work through lunch. Give up your margin. Open the laptop again that night. Borrow from tomorrow. And that’s how one disrupted morning becomes a disrupted week. But what if the interruption isn’t automatically a debt you have to repay with the rest of your time? That’s where stewardship requires something more than rearranging the calendar. It requires discernment. And if you’re thinking, But when everything feels important, how do I know what actually deserves my yes?—that’s exactly why I created the free REDEEM Her Time Starter Kit. It will help you begin discerning what matters today and give it a place to live without trying to control every minute. Build a week that can hold real life Knowing what faithful stewardship looks like is one thing. Practicing it when Tuesday actually happens is another. That’s the deeper work we’re doing inside the Stewardship Circle. As a paid subscriber, you’ll get my Faithful Week Framework to help you discern what matters, give those priorities a place to live, build in margin for what you can’t predict—and create a week you don’t have to start over every Monday. And when the plan does change, you’re not left to figure it out alone. Through Hey Lissa, you can bring me your real-life Tuesday-at-10 moments: Here’s what I planned. Here’s what changed. How do I discern what still deserves my yes? Because sometimes you don’t need another framework. You need support practicing faithful stewardship in the life you’re actually living. The week you planned won’t always be the week you live. That doesn’t mean you have to start over. There’s another way to respond—and it’s the one simple practice I want you to hear in this week’s episode. So if you haven’t listened yet, scroll back up and hit play. Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic. Get full access to REDEEM Her Time® at lissafiggins.substack.com/subscribe
441 | The Time You’ve Been Given
2026/08/30
Why Did God Give You THIS Time? A Lord of the Rings quote made me rethink what Scripture actually says about the time you’ve been given. A few weeks ago I was sitting at a concert, waiting for it to start. And instead of doing the easy thing — pulling out my phone to scroll while I waited — I’d brought a book. Apparently I’m now the woman who brings a book to a concert. So there’s that. 😂 It wasn’t The Lord of the Rings. It was Mark Buchanan’s God Walk, the book we’re currently reading inside our Faithful Focus Book Club. And Buchanan referenced the exchange between Frodo and Gandalf that every LOTR fan already knows by heart. Here’s the setup, for those of us who need it (my kids are the real fans in this house — I mostly just know the cliff notes). Frodo has just realized what the Ring means and what it’s about to cost him. A conflict he never asked for has landed in his lap. And he says: “I wish it need not have happened in my time.” Gandalf answers: “So do I, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” I read that line twice. The time that is given us. And I couldn’t stop wondering: given by whom and for what? Gandalf’s answer is beautiful. It’s also as far as Gandalf can take you. Because Scripture tells us something he never could. We know the Giver. Maybe You’ve Wished for a Different Time Too You’ve probably never said Frodo’s exact line out loud. But I’d bet you’ve said a version of it. Why does raising kids have to be so complicated in this generation? Why does building a business have to be this noisy right now? Why is my capacity so different than it used to be? Or maybe just: I wish I had more time. But notice what Gandalf isn’t doing. He isn’t handing Frodo a productivity tip. He’s not saying you’ve got 24 hours, make ‘em count. He’s talking about the time in history Frodo has found himself living in — a time he didn’t choose and can’t undo. That question sent me back into Acts 17. Then Esther. Then Psalm 31. And eventually right back to Ephesians 5 — which changed the question I’ve been asking about my own time. 🎙️ In this week’s episode, I walk through that whole thread — and why it changes the way we answer what is it time for? So hit play above and let’s take 15 min to walk through this together. Your Time Isn’t Accidental Paul is standing in Athens, talking to people who have no idea who the God he’s proclaiming even is. So he starts at the beginning. This God made the world and everything in it. He’s Lord of heaven and earth. He gives life and breath to everyone who has it. And then, in Acts 17:26, Paul says something easy to read past: God determined the appointed times and the exact boundaries of where people would live. Not just that you would live. When you would live. That doesn’t mean God causes every hard thing you’re carrying. It means your life isn’t unfolding outside His sovereignty. Your time isn’t an accident. I dig into what that actually means for the specific season you’re in right now in the episode. What If This Time Has Purpose? That’s what took me to Esther, sitting in the palace while her people are about to be wiped out by Haman’s plan. Mordecai tells her: “And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Frodo asks: why did this have to happen in my time? Esther is asked: what if this is exactly the time you’ve been placed in? Your “such a time as this” almost certainly won’t look like hers. It might look a lot more ordinary than that, and that’s exactly what I walk through in the episode. Everything can matter without everything being for right now. So What Is It Time For? Once you actually believe God entrusted you with this particular time, the question underneath your calendar changes. It stops being how do I fit everything in and starts being what has God entrusted to me in this season. If you’re realizing you don’t need another system to help you squeeze more into your day, start here. The free REDEEM Her Time Starter Kit will help you step back from everything competing for your time, name what God has actually entrusted to you in this season, and give it a place in the time you’ve been given. Grab it at now. Appointed. Purposeful. Stewarded. Three words to carry with you: Appointed (Acts 17). Purposeful (Esther). Stewarded — that last one comes from Ephesians 5, and it’s the piece I haven’t told you about yet. It’s the one that turns all of this from a nice thought into something you actually practice. Underneath all three sits the same reminder David gives us in Psalm 31: my times are in Your hand. Not in my planner. Not under my control. In His hand. A Question to Take With You Go back to Frodo’s line and finish it yourself: “I wish __________ didn’t have to happen in my time.” Something unresolved. Something you never expected to be carrying. A door you thought would’ve opened by now. Name it. God already knows what it is. Then open your hands — actually, physically, if you need to — and ask: Lord, if this is the time You’ve entrusted to me, what does faithfulness look like here? Not how do I get through this faster. Not how do I control the outcome. Just: what is it time for? Learning to Live the Question, Not Just Answer It Once And there’s a part of this I didn’t expect. Answering what is it time for once can bring real clarity. But your season is going to change. Your capacity is going to change. What was faithful last year may not be what faithfulness looks like this year. Which means this isn’t a question you answer once. It’s one you practice asking, with the Author of Time, over and over. That’s exactly why I built The Stewardship Circle. Twelve months of practicing a different way of living your time, starting with the Faithful Week Framework and continuing month by month through our Faithful Living Workshops and a community of women asking the same questions you are. You don’t need another year of trying harder to manage your time. You need time to practice living it differently. We Know the Giver Frodo says he wishes it hadn’t happened in his time. I understand that. There are pieces of the time I’ve been given that I wouldn’t have chosen either. You could probably say the same about yours. Gandalf was right about one thing: we don’t get to pick the time we’re given. But we know something he couldn’t. We know the Giver. The One who appointed our time, who holds it in His hands, who works His purposes within it, and who invites us to walk wisely through it with Him. So instead of wishing for a different time, or trying to squeeze more out of the one you have, what if you just asked Him: Lord, what is it time for? Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic. 440 | When Success Isn't Enough: Healthy Ambition, Midlife + a More Faithful Rhythm, ft Claire Davis
2026/08/23
Midlife…Maybe you’ve noticed it too. You still care deeply about your calling. You still want to make an impact. You still have ideas, responsibilities and people you love. But the pace you once kept doesn’t fit quite the same anymore. Your energy has changed. Your capacity may have changed. Your roles are changing. And somewhere in the middle of it all, you may be asking, “What is this season for?” We’ve been talking a lot around here about a theology of time, how what we believe about God and time shapes what we do with our days. Today’s conversation with Claire Davis of The Midlife Mentors adds another layer: The God who created time also created you. Your body isn’t an inconvenience to your calling. Your limitations aren’t something you have to outsmart. And a change in season doesn’t necessarily mean you’re becoming less useful. It may be an invitation to become more discerning about what you’re carrying into the next one. Ready to Start Redeeming Your Time? If this conversation has you realizing it’s time for a different rhythm, you don’t need another productivity system. You need a place to start. I’ve put together the free REDEEM Her Time Starter Kit to help you begin asking the question that changes everything: “Lord, what is it time for?” Inside, you’ll get the foundational tools to start giving what matters a home in your actual week, while leaving room for your capacity, your season, and real life. When you grab the Starter Kit, you’ll also join me here on REDEEM Her Time, where we’ll keep looking to the Author of Time for what it means to faithfully steward what He’s entrusted to us. What If Midlife Isn’t a Decline? Claire knows something about reaching the point where striving stops working. After years of putting so much of her identity and meaning into her career, work and brand, she experienced burnout and eventually found herself at the end of herself. And that’s where God met her. What followed reshaped how she understood who she was and what her life was for. That’s especially significant in midlife because so much is already changing. Children may be leaving home. Parents may need more care. Hormones change. And suddenly the roles that have answered “Who am I?” for decades don’t answer quite as easily anymore. Claire describes midlife as an opportunity to get curious rather than assume we’re in decline. What still matters? What have we been carrying because someone else told us success was supposed to look that way? And what might God be asking us to lay down so we have the capacity to hear what He’s inviting us into next? As Claire put it: “It’s not about adding. It’s about subtracting. It’s about taking things out and living more in our natural rhythms.” That sounds a lot like stewardship to me. Healthy Ambition Requires a Different Rhythm I especially wanted to ask Claire about healthy ambition because the women in this community aren’t looking for permission to stop caring. We want our lives to matter. We want to build, serve, love our families and use what God has entrusted to us well. The real question is what’s driving our ambition, not whether we should have it. Unhealthy ambition can look a lot like stress, striving, and not-enoughness. And we can make our striving sound very spiritual. “I’m doing this for God.” “I’m serving people.” “This opportunity could make such an impact.” All of those things may be true. And we can still outrun our capacity. Claire reminded us that the body we’re living in is also part of what God has entrusted to us. Sleep matters. Movement matters. Creating space to be with God instead of filling every available minute, even with good things, matters. And sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is remove something that no longer belongs, not squeeze another healthy habit into an already-full schedule. Faithful stewardship means discerning what God has entrusted to us and letting that determine our yeses, not doing less simply for the sake of doing less. So What Is It Time for Now? Toward the end of our conversation, Claire offered a simple place to begin. Take 10 minutes a day. Grab a journal. And get curious with God. Who does God say I am? What used to bring me joy? What might He be calling me toward now? You don’t need to figure out the entire second half of your life in one sitting. You simply need enough space to begin listening. Because maybe this season isn’t asking you to become more efficient at carrying everything you’ve always carried. Maybe it’s asking you to discern what belongs now. So before you move on to the next thing, sit with this week’s stewardship question: “What am I still carrying because it fit a previous season, but may not belong in the one God has me in now?” Don’t rush to fix it. Get curious. Bring it before God. And then ask the question we’ve been practicing together: “Lord, what is it time for?” I’d love to hear what comes up for you in the comments. Ready to Let That Answer Shape Your Actual Week? Recognizing that your season has changed is one thing. Letting it change the way you live Monday through Sunday is another. Inside the Stewardship Circle, you’ll start with the Faithful Week Framework™ to discern what God has entrusted to you in this season, decide what deserves your yes, and give those priorities a realistic home in your week, with room for your actual capacity and real life. Because great information can help us see differently. But transformation comes as we begin living differently. And change takes time. Pun fully intended. 439 | A Productive Day Isn't Always a Faithful One
2026/08/16
You got a lot done yesterday. Answered the emails. Finished the project. Made dinner. Returned the call. Maybe even got the workout in. You crawled into bed thinking, That was a pretty productive day, if I do say so myself. But was it faithful? Because those aren’t necessarily the same thing. You can have an incredibly productive day AND yet completely miss what God entrusted to you in it. And you can have a day that looks terribly unproductive on paper—a conversation that took longer than expected, an interruption you didn’t plan for, a needed hour of rest—and be incredibly faithful. That’s the conversation we’re having this week on the REDEEM Her Time Podcast. Because I think we’ve gotten stewardship a little wrong. Sometimes we take all the productivity advice we’ve learned, add a Bible verse, pray over our planner...and call it Christian time stewardship. But stewardship has a completely different starting point: Productivity starts with my agenda. Stewardship starts with His assignment. In this episode, we’re talking about: * Why stewardship isn’t simply Christian productivity * What Matthew 25 reveals about the difference between an owner and a steward * Why what you believe about the Owner changes what you do with what He’s entrusted to you * Why your week doesn’t have to go perfectly to be lived faithfully * A simple Receive → Recognize → Respond rhythm to help you steward an ordinary Tuesday If this conversation is helping you rethink your relationship with time, I’d love to keep going with you. Subscribe to REDEEM Her Time and I’ll send you the free REDEEM Her Time Starter Kit to help you begin laying out your day around the question: What is it time for? A Better Question for Your Day Instead of ending today asking: How much did I get done? Try asking: Where was I faithful with what God entrusted to me? That’s the measure we’re after. Not perfection. Faithfulness. And if you’re thinking, I don’t just want to understand this. I want to actually live this way, that’s exactly why I created the Stewardship Circle. Because change takes time. (Pun fully intended.) Inside the Circle, we’re practicing faithful stewardship together week after week and season after season—with biblical guidance, practical rhythms, and support for living this out when real life changes the plan. I’d especially invite you to join us as an annual member, because becoming a faithful steward isn’t something we accomplish in a month. It’s something God forms in us over time. Time is sacred. 438 | The Reason Your Day Felt Off Started Before This Morning
2026/08/09
Have you ever reached the end of the day and thought, “That wasn’t how I wanted today to feel”? Maybe you answered the emails, served your family, and checked everything off your list. And yet you still climbed into bed wondering where the time went. We usually blame time. “If I just had more.” “If life would slow down.” “If this week were different.” But what if that conversation didn’t begin with your calendar? What if it started much earlier than you realize? This week on the podcast, we’re continuing our conversation about time by going all the way back to the beginning, not to find a better planning system, but to discover what God intended when He created time itself. Inside This Episode In today’s conversation, we’ll explore: * Why the Bible’s story of time begins before there were people, work, or calendars. * What Genesis 1 reveals about God’s purpose for creating time. * Why time isn’t your enemy, even if it sometimes feels that way. * What changed in Genesis 3 that affects how we experience every ordinary Tuesday. * One simple morning rhythm to help you begin receiving time as God’s good gift. This Week’s Sacred Truth One sentence from Genesis has stayed with me all week. God called it good. Not just the light. Not just the land. Not just the living creatures. In fact, time itself, marked by evening and morning, the exact place where God put mankind, was part of God’s very good creation. That means time wasn’t created to pressure you, keep you behind, or become the enemy. Time was created as the place where God would meet with His people. So if time often feels like something working against us, perhaps the problem isn’t time itself. Perhaps it’s that something has changed the way we experience something God originally called good. That’s a very different place to begin. Because if God called time good, maybe we can begin receiving it as a gift again. This is just the beginning. Subscribe to receive each week’s podcast, companion reflection, and stewardship practice delivered to your inbox. This Week’s Stewardship Practice Tomorrow morning, before you reach for your phone, before you open your planner, before you begin working through your to-do list, pause. Thank God, not only for another day, but for time itself as one of His good gifts. Then simply ask, “Lord, what is it time for today?” As you listen, don’t just look for your next task. Look for Him. Because maybe the first purpose of today isn’t simply what you’ll accomplish, it’s who you’ll walk with. Reflect If God called time good, how might that change the way you approach today? I’d love to hear what stood out to you from this week’s conversation… Keep Walking With Me The podcast is where we begin the conversation. Each week here on REDEEM Her Time, we continue it with a companion reflection, one simple stewardship practice, and one question to help you move from hearing truth to faithfully living it. If you’re ready to stop chasing better time management and begin seeing time through the eyes of its Creator, I’d love for you to continue the journey with us. 437 | What If You Already Have Enough Time?
2026/08/02
What if you’ve been chasing the very thing God never asked you to pursue? Have you ever caught yourself thinking... * “I just need more time.” * “If I could finally get caught up...” * “Maybe next week will be different.” We’ve been taught the answer is better time management. A better planner. A better system. A better routine. But what if God never intended you to chase more time in the first place? What if He was inviting you to receive today’s time from His hand? In this week’s episode, we’re continuing our Theology of Time series by exploring one simple—but life-changing—shift: Stop searching for more time...and start seeking the One who gives it. Inside This Episode In today’s conversation, we’ll explore: * Why Jesus never tells us to chase more time—but to seek first the Kingdom. * How the Lord’s Prayer completely changes the way we think about our “daily bread.” * What the Israelites gathering manna teaches us about receiving today’s time. * Why peace doesn’t come from controlling your calendar. * One simple morning practice that can reshape the way you begin every day. This Week’s Sacred Truth God never promised tomorrow’s time today. Just as He faithfully provided daily bread in the wilderness, He faithfully provides today’s time. When we stop chasing more time and begin receiving today’s time as God’s gift, stewardship becomes an act of trust instead of striving. Because time is sacred...and stewardship is strategic. This Week’s Stewardship Practice Tomorrow morning... Before you reach for your phone. Before you open your planner. Pause. Receive today’s time as God’s gift before you begin planning how you’ll spend it. Then simply ask: “Lord, what is it time for today?” Reflect Before you move on with your day, pause with this question: Where have you been chasing more time instead of receiving today’s time as God’s provision? I’d love to hear what stood out to you from today’s episode. I'd love to hear your answer in the comments. I read every one, and I'd love to continue the conversation with you there. Keep Walking With Me If today’s episode resonated with you, don’t let the conversation end here. 436 | Theology of Time 101: Why Your Calendar Reveals What You Believe
2026/07/26
What do you do when your calendar changes unexpectedly… • Do you find yourself anxious when your plans fall apart?• Do you feel guilty when you don’t accomplish everything you hoped?• Do you immediately start trying to take back control? Most of us assume the answer is better planning, stronger routines, or more discipline. But what if the real issue isn’t your planner... What if it’s your theology of time? Because theology isn’t simply something we believe. It’s something we live. And because we live it, our theology quietly shapes how we think, choose, lead, rest, work, and steward every hour we’ve been given. In this foundational episode, we’re beginning a brand-new series: Theology of Time 101. Together, we'll discover why time isn't merely something to manage. It's a sacred gift from God—one we're invited to receive with gratitude and steward with wisdom. Inside This Episode In today’s conversation, we’ll explore: * Why everyone already has a theology of time—even if you’ve never stopped to think about it. * Why your calendar reveals what you believe about time. * How the Busyness Lie quietly fuels anxiety, hurry, and the feeling of always being behind. * Why your theology of time shapes your methodology with time—and ultimately shapes who you become over time. * One simple question that can transform the way you approach every day: What is it time for? Sacred Truth Time is not merely a resource to optimize. It is a sacred gift entrusted to us by God. When our theology of time is shaped by Scripture, our stewardship becomes less about accomplishing more and more about faithfully responding to God’s invitation in each season. Because time is sacred......and stewardship is strategic. Reflect Before you move on with your day, pause with this question: What belief about time has quietly been shaping the way you live—and is God inviting you to see it differently? This conversation doesn't end with the episode. Share your thoughts in the comments below—I read every one, and I'd love to hear what God is revealing to you as you rethink your theology of time. Continue the Conversation If today’s episode resonated with you, I’d love to invite you to continue the conversation in Sacred + Strategic Time Stewardship on Substack. Each week you’ll receive companion articles, podcast episodes, biblical reflections, and practical tools to help you faithfully steward your time in light of God’s Word. If you’re ready to move from learning to living, I’d love to welcome you into the Stewardship Circle. Together, we’ll go deeper through monthly teachings, guided reflection, and practical implementation as you learn to faithfully steward every season. Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic.
