Beyond Proving Yourself: Radical Listening, Indigenous Wisdom, and Purpose-Driven Leadership
2026/10/14
Today on Notable Leaders Radio, I sit down with Shannon Fernando-Rubera, a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, TEDx speaker, global humanitarian, and Founder & CEO of Alabaster International. Early in her career, Shannon felt the familiar pressure to prove her competence and earn credibility in every room she entered. But after witnessing the devastating impact of famine in Kenya, her perspective shifted fundamentally. Choosing mission over recognition, she challenged traditional models of humanitarian aid by stepping into remote, conflict-affected regions to co-create sustainable, community-led solutions alongside Indigenous families. Her bold leadership led to the historic first-ever introduction and harvest of Ethiopia's indigenous Enset crop in Kenya, an evidence-based model now helping more than 12,000 farmers strengthen food security and overcome chronic hunger. Throughout our conversation, Shannon shares how shifting from self-proof to purpose clarified her path, why true solutions require proximity and active listening, and how embracing uncertainty allows leaders to disrupt unjust systems and create lasting impact. In This Episode, We Discuss Disrupt Systems, Not People Indigenous and marginalized communities are not helpless victims; they are resilient survivors who have endured long before aid arrives. Shannon highlights that true humanitarian disruption isn't about altering the people being served, but disrupting the unjust systems and barriers that prevent them from accessing vital resources. We Can't Do This Work Alone Impactful leadership is rooted in relationship and interdependence. Shannon reflects on how learning to embrace her need for others - donors, beneficiaries, local partners, and teams - has been the ultimate gift and honor of her 15-year journey. Proximity is More Valuable Than Assumptions Expertise alone does not create lasting impact. Shannon emphasizes that the communities closest to the problem are closest to the solution. Effective leadership requires bringing skills instead of rigid scripts, using both ears to listen first, building trust, and co-creating solutions with local leaders rather than imposing external answers. A Final Reflection Leadership is not about having all the answers or being the smartest person in the room; it is about creating space for others to lead and having the courage to serve a purpose greater than yourself. When we step into proximity, listen deeply, and embrace uncertainty, we stop trying to prove who we are and start becoming the leaders our communities truly need. Carry This Forward Notice: Where in your career or life are you operating out of a need to prove your competence rather than serving a deeper mission or purpose? Reflect: Are you approaching challenges with prewritten "scripts" and assumptions, or are you stepping into proximity and actively listening to those closest to the problem? Act: What is one faithful step you can take today toward a goal or calling, even in the face of incomplete information and uncertainty? Shannon's work has earned international recognition from the U.S. Department of State, the Clinton Global Initiative, Food Planet Prize, Seeding the Future, and Tech for Good.
Rising from the Ashes: Relationships, Resilience, and the Power of Persistence
2026/09/30
Today on Notable Leaders Radio, I sit down with Noemi Beres, Co-Founder of Podcast Connections and a master organizer who helps entrepreneurs land high-quality podcast interviews to build authority and grow their businesses. Growing up as an only child in a small town in Hungary, Noemi learned early on from her parents that hard work, persistence, and consistency are the real drivers of success. After starting her career in Denmark and Ireland, she made the bold leap into entrepreneurship in 2007 despite having no formal background in sales or marketing. When personal tragedy struck in 2019, followed by the loss of her business during the 2020 pandemic, Noemi chose to push forward, rebuilding her life and launching a thriving podcast booking agency from scratch. Throughout our conversation, Noemi shares why relationships must always come before results, how leaning into art helped her navigate profound grief, and why every leader needs a "just keep going" mindset. In This Episode, We Discuss Pivot Through Crisis with Unshakable Resilience When sudden loss or market disruptions threaten your livelihood, forward momentum becomes essential. Noemi opens up about losing her father, grandmother, and business in rapid succession during 2019 and 2020, and how choosing action over dwelling on the past allowed her to rise from the ashes. Prioritize Relationships Over Results True business growth happens when you lead with heart and generosity. As an active member of the Go-Giver community, Noemi explains how building genuine, trust-based connections creates far more meaningful impact than chasing quick transactions. Embrace Storytelling and Authentic Guesting Great podcasting relies on presence, vulnerability, and active listening. Noemi breaks down what makes an extraordinary podcast guest, highlighting how sharing real human stories creates a ripple effect that helps listeners feel seen, understood, and inspired. Build Your Life on Hard Work and Consistency Success is rarely an overnight phenomenon. Noemi reflects on how her parents instilled a strong work ethic in her from an early age, demonstrating that persistent effort and daily showing up ultimately unlock long-term achievements. A Final Reflection Our circumstances may shape our story, but they don't have to determine the ending. The moment we choose to keep moving forward despite fear, tragedy, or uncertainty is the moment we step back into our own power. With persistence, genuine kindness, and a commitment to serving others, we can rebuild from any setback, cultivate deep connections, and turn our greatest challenges into lasting impact. Carry This Forward Notice What story or past setback are you holding onto that might be keeping you from taking your next step forward? Reflect Where in your business or personal life can you shift your focus from seeking results to building genuine, heart-centered relationships? Act What is one small, consistent action you will take before tomorrow to keep moving toward your goals, regardless of current challenges? Still Becoming: Lessons from the Messy Middle of Healing and Leadership
2026/09/23
Today on Notable Leaders Radio, host Belinda Pruyne turns the microphone on herself for a candid, behind-the-scenes conversation about growth, personal transformation, and what it really takes to lead through change. Recorded on the eve of her second knee replacement surgery, Belinda shares how what began as a physical journey to fix her knees unexpectedly transformed into one of the most profound personal development courses of her life. From managing severe post-surgery complications to confronting deeply ingrained Midwestern work ethics and limiting beliefs, she reflects on how physical healing unearthed old patterns that no longer served her leadership or well-being. Throughout this episode, Belinda breaks down five powerful lessons about self-awareness, alignment, and receiving support. She explores why true success is directly linked to internal clarity and challenges leaders to stop simply pushing through difficulties and instead ask: What are you recovering for? In This Episode, We Discuss Recognize That Strength Doesn't Always Mean Pushing Deeply ingrained habits often convince leaders to solve hard problems by simply digging deeper and working harder. Belinda distinguishes between true persistence, exploring every viable option—and pushing, which forces outcomes at the expense of well-being and clear decision-making. Understand That Progress Doesn't Always Look Like Progress Healing and growth are rarely linear, and forcing quick results often leads to burnout. Belinda shares her shift from expecting immediate recovery to committing to the action while letting go of the outcome, emphasizing that slowing down is an act of wisdom rather than failure. Embrace Interdependence and Learn to Receive Leaders accustomed to being the primary problem solver often struggle when forced to rely on others. Belinda reflects on the vulnerability of needing 24/7 care post-surgery, highlighting how strong leaders avoid creating codependency and instead embrace healthy interdependence. Slow Down Enough to Notice What Body and Mind Are Telling You Pushing past physical and emotional signals causes us to miss critical insights. Belinda discusses replacing rigid expectations with grace, curiosity, and presence to catch old narratives before they dictate our actions. Shift Focus from Recovering From Something to Recovering For Something True motivation comes from a clear vision for the future, not just escaping a current challenge. Belinda shares how framing her recovery around creating a bigger, more vibrant life for 2027 reframed her entire healing process. A Final Reflection Our circumstances may shape our story, but they don't have to determine the ending. The fulfillment and success we achieve in life and leadership are directly connected to our level of self-awareness. When we slow down, drop old narratives that no longer serve us, and extend ourselves grace, we transform our challenges into clarity and step fully into who we are still becoming. Carry This Forward Notice Where in your life or leadership are you pushing harder when you really need to pause, breathe, and re-evaluate? Reflect What old story or inherited belief are you trying to carry down a new path? Act What is one area where you can allow yourself to receive support or extend yourself grace before tomorrow? Understanding Brain Chemistry and Healing from Within
2026/08/19
Today on Notable Leaders Radio, I sit down with Dr. Cristine Hull—Integrative Mental Health Expert and founder of Health, Healing & Wholeness, LLC. Cristine's journey into understanding the brain wasn't simply a career choice; it was a deeply personal search to better understand herself. Inspired at just nine years old by her uncle's pioneering work in biochemical research, she developed an early fascination with the connection between brain chemistry, emotions, and behavior. As someone who quietly lived with persistent low moods, she began journaling her thoughts and emotions long before she had the language to describe what she was experiencing. That curiosity became the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of understanding the relationship between our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. In this conversation, Cristine shares how her personal journey shaped her work as a school psychologist, substance abuse counselor, and integrative mental health practitioner. Together, we explore why understanding ourselves more deeply is often the first step toward lasting healing. In This Episode, We Explore Curiosity Can Be the Beginning of Healing Cristine shares how her own search for answers transformed into a lifelong mission to help others better understand themselves. Rather than simply managing symptoms, she encourages us to become curious about what our minds and bodies may be trying to communicate. Understanding That Depression Isn't One-Size-Fits-All Many people think of depression as a single condition with a single solution. Cristine explains that there are different forms of depression, including Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia)—and why understanding those differences can help people have more informed conversations with qualified healthcare professionals and find the support that best fits their individual needs. Caring for the Whole Person Cristine introduces her "Wellness Diamond," a framework that encourages us to look at well-being through four interconnected dimensions: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. She shares why lasting wellness often comes from considering  Small Daily Practices Can Create Meaningful Change One of Cristine's own turning points came when she shifted her focus from simply tracking difficult emotions to intentionally practicing gratitude. She discusses how small, consistent habits can gradually reshape the way we experience ourselves and the world around us. A Final Reflection Our circumstances may influence our story, but they don't have to define its ending. Cristine reminds us that healing doesn't begin when everything around us changes; it begins when we're willing to become curious about what's happening within us. Whether you're navigating stress, discouragement, anxiety, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, greater self-understanding can open the door to meaningful change. Sometimes the most important step forward isn't finding all the answers. It's asking better questions. Making Your Own Way
2026/08/12
Today on Notable Leaders Radio, I sit down with Damaris Melo-Gyasi, architect, entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, and author of Making My Way: A Story of Grit and Grace. Her story isn't simply about building a successful business. It's about learning to create a life that reflected who she truly was, rather than the limitations others expected her to accept. Growing up in São Paulo, Brazil, in a working-class Pentecostal family, Damaris was surrounded by love, discipline, and faith—but also by unspoken expectations about what was possible. At just seven years old, seeing a female architect for the first time expanded her understanding of what her future could hold. That single moment of possibility became the beginning of a journey that would take her across countries, cultures, and careers. Through scholarship opportunities, entrepreneurship, and countless moments of uncertainty, Damaris learned that making your own way isn't about having all the answers. It's about having the courage to keep moving forward, trusting your values, embracing your strengths, and creating opportunities not only for yourself, but for others. Together, we explore how leadership is less about achieving perfection and more about becoming the person capable of creating meaningful influence and lasting impact. Together, We Explore The Power of Seeing New Possibilities Sometimes transformation begins with a single moment that changes what we believe is possible. For Damaris, seeing a woman working as an architect at seven years old quietly challenged every expectation she had inherited about her future. That experience reminds us that expanding our vision often begins long before we possess the confidence to pursue it. When Excellence Replaces Perfection Perfection promises safety but often keeps us from fully stepping into our potential. Damaris shares how releasing the need to have every answer allowed her to lead with greater confidence, authenticity, and resilience. Excellence isn't about flawless performance; it's about consistently bringing your best while continuing to learn and grow. You Don't Have to Be Everything Many leaders believe success means mastering every skill themselves. Damaris discovered that sustainable leadership comes from recognizing where others are stronger, trusting their expertise, and building teams whose collective strengths far exceed any one individual's abilities. Leadership grows when we stop proving ourselves and begin empowering others. Redefining Success Through Influence Titles, promotions, and financial success can open doors—but they don't always create meaningful impact. Building her own architecture firm allowed Damaris to redefine success, shifting her focus from external achievement to creating spaces, opportunities, and communities that improve people's lives. Influence became more meaningful than recognition. Leading with Courage and Conviction Our values matter most when they're tested. Whether advocating for her employees or navigating difficult conversations with clients, Damaris demonstrates that leadership requires the courage to protect people, uphold boundaries, and remain aligned with what matters most, even when those conversations feel uncomfortable. Respect is often earned through conviction delivered with grace. A Moment That Changed Everything Sometimes the moments that shape our future seem almost insignificant at the time. For Damaris, it wasn't receiving a degree, launching a business, or publishing a book. It was seeing someone who reflected a future she had never imagined for herself. One small moment expanded her vision of what was possible. Years later, she would become that example for countless others. Leadership often begins when someone helps us believe that our future can be larger than our circumstances A Final Reflection Every leader has a story they didn't choose. Our upbringing, our circumstances, and the expectations placed upon us all leave their mark. But those experiences do not have to become the boundaries of our future. Damaris reminds us that making your own way isn't about rejecting where you came from. It's about honoring what shaped you while choosing, with courage and intention, the path you're meant to create. The most influential leaders aren't those who follow someone else's blueprint. They're the ones willing to write their own. Carry This Forward Notice Where in your life or leadership are you still waiting for permission that no one else can give you? Reflect What story about yourself has quietly outlived its usefulness? Act Choose one courageous conversation or meaningful action you've been postponing. Take the first step this week, trusting that clarity often comes through movement, not certainty. Through her writing, speaking, and leadership, Damaris inspires others to move beyond perceived limitations, embrace their unique journey, and create meaningful impact through lives and careers built with intention.
Break Your Money Story
2026/07/23
Today on Notable Leaders' Radio, I sit down with Ben Millan, Owner of Serenity Retirement and Retirement Planning Specialist, whose journey into the financial industry wasn't inspired by wealth—it was inspired by love. Growing up, Ben watched his father work hard while struggling financially. Instead of allowing that experience to define his future, he made a decision that would shape the rest of his life: he would break the cycle. What began as a desire to protect his parents and provide a different future for his own family became a lifelong mission to help others build financial confidence, security, and a lasting legacy. Throughout our conversation, Ben shares why success begins long before your bank account changes. It begins with changing the story you tell yourself, embracing new possibilities, and having the courage to become someone your past never prepared you to be. In This Episode, We Discuss Break Your Money Story The circumstances you were born into may influence your relationship with money, but they don't have to define your future. Ben shares how watching his father struggle financially became the catalyst, not the excuse, for creating a different life for himself and his family. Your greatest challenges can become the foundation for your greatest purpose. Change Your Mindset Before You Change Your Finances Financial success isn't simply about earning more money—it's about believing you're capable of creating a different future. Ben introduces the concept of your "financial thermostat" and explains why lasting success begins by raising your expectations of what's possible before your income ever changes. Build a Legacy—Not Just a Career Everything changed when Ben stopped thinking of himself as someone working in a business and started leading one. That shift in perspective transformed his work from a career into a legacy, one designed to create generational opportunity for his children and positively impact the families he serves. Growth Requires Openness, Curiosity, and the Willingness to Evolve Whether it's embracing new technology, learning from mentors, or challenging long-held beliefs, Ben believes the greatest opportunities belong to those who remain open to change. The people who continue learning are the ones who continue growing. Failure Isn't the Opposite of Success—It's Part of the Journey The most successful people aren't the ones who avoid failure; they're the ones who refuse to let failure stop them. Ben shares why persistence, discipline, and relentless commitment ultimately matter more than talent, and how every setback becomes preparation for what's next. A Final Reflection Our circumstances may shape our story, but they don't have to determine the ending. The moment we become aware of the beliefs we've inherited and are willing to question them is the moment we begin writing a new chapter. With openness, curiosity, and the courage to grow, we can transform our experiences into purpose, create new possibilities for ourselves, and build a legacy that changes the future for the generations that follow. Owning Your Story and Breaking Barriers in Media with Erin Saxton
2026/07/15
Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Guest Name, Erin Saxton, Emmy-nominated TV producer and PR and Media expert of The Erin Network. She candidly shares how lifelong self-discovery, resilience, and curiosity have shaped her story, offering practical lessons on valuing yourself and finding purpose through life's challenges. In today's episode, we discuss: Audit the influences in your upbringing. Notice which family members shaped your habits and values, both the qualities you wanted to emulate and those you didn't. Use this pattern recognition to build intentional behaviors in your own life, learning from their successes and missteps so you can consciously choose what to pass on or set aside. Challenge limiting beliefs about self-worth. Recognize where early experiences, like being judged for your appearance, may have shaped your self-image. By bringing these narratives to the surface, you can break free from their grip and learn to value yourself beyond external validation, allowing for greater confidence in all facets of life. Transform challenges into motivation. When faced with setbacks or fears, treat them as personal dares to grow. This mindset reframes difficult experiences into purposeful action, inspiring resilience and driving you to break through barriers rather than remain stuck. Find the angle that makes your story stand out. If you want to get noticed—whether in business or life—don't just follow the crowd. Shift your perspective ever slightly to uncover what makes you unique. This "one degree" of difference is what creates opportunities, gets you seen, and ensures you're not lost in a sea of sameness. Keep moving forward, no matter what. Embrace resilience as a daily mantra: even on tough days, prioritize action over inertia. This practice maintains momentum, builds emotional strength, and models for others that persistence is often the key differentiator in long-term success.   Guest Bio: Erin Saxton is a four-time Emmy-nominated television producer, PR strategist, and founder of eleven Communications, The Erin Network, and Erin on Demand. Stefoni Rossiter - Still Becoming ~ More Living with Openness, curiosity, and possibility
2026/04/15
Rather than answers, this celebrates curiosity and openness. It affirms that becoming isn't about arriving, it's about staying awake to possibility. Core question: What does "more" mean to you now, and how will you make room for it? Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Stefoni Rossiter, retired educator, caregiver, and creative spirit. She shares how this season of transition has opened the door to deeper self-trust, creativity, and a more compassionate way of becoming. In today's episode, we discuss: Pay attention to what has always drawn you in. The things we were naturally curious about early in life often still point toward what matters most to us now. Looking back can help you notice patterns you may have overlooked and reconnect with parts of yourself that are still waiting to be used. Creativity does not have an expiration date. Whether it is sketching, journaling, cooking, gardening, writing, or building something with your hands, trying something new can open up a different kind of confidence. You do not need to be an expert to benefit from creativity. Your role can change without your value changing. A transition like retirement, caregiving, or a career shift can leave you wondering who you are without your old responsibilities. Identity can expand, and a new season does not erase the impact of the one before it. Self-care can be practical and personal. It does not have to look fancy to matter. For Stefoni, routines, movement, reading, gardening, and creative time all help her stay grounded, and that is a good reminder that self-care works best when it actually fits your life. You do not have to do it perfectly to do it well. Stefoni's willingness to try, fail, adjust, and keep going is part of what makes her story so relatable. That same mindset can help anyone loosen their grip on perfection and make room for growth.   RESOURCES: Guest Bio: Stefoni Rossiter is a veteran theater arts performer, director, and choreographer with over 50 years of experience.   Retiring from full-time teaching in 2024, she now teaches middle school theater arts part-time at a local charter school.   Awards: Parent of the Year, Autism Society Ventura, California, Mayor's Award for Arts Educator of the Year 6 Teachers of the semester awards Teacher of the year Inducted into the Hall of Fame  Since retirement, Stefoni has learned to fill her days with self-care, which includes incorporating daily creativity. Still Becoming: Beyond Achievement: What Happens When Success Stops Being The Point with Stephanie Baker
2026/03/18
Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Stephanie Baker, Chief Experience Officer and artist. She highlights her journey of moving beyond achievement, sharing how embracing vulnerability, creativity, and leading with empathy has redefined what true success means, for herself, her teams, and those she mentors. In today's episode, we discuss: Reimagine your definition of success. Step back from titles and checkboxes. Ask yourself whether your work aligns with your core values and your true impact. When your work is a reflection of who you are, fulfillment finds you, not the other way around. Lead with empathy and inclusion. Performance isn't just about KPIs; it's about how people feel in your presence. When you foster empathy, inclusion, and psychological safety, you build teams that are resilient, innovative, and engaged at every level. Make becoming a lifelong pursuit. You don't have to have it all figured out. The most effective, impactful leaders are those who stay open to growth and keep redefining who they are—at work and in life. Protect your energy unapologetically. Learn to say "no"—and realize that it's a complete sentence. Being deliberate with your time and focus allows you to say "yes" to what truly matters and show up at your best. Give yourself permission to explore new interests. Try picking up something new—painting, mentoring, creating. You never know which hidden strengths or sources of joy are waiting for you. (Check out her paintings in the show notes. She is GIFTED!)   RESOURCES: Guest Bio: Stephanie Baker is a Senior operations executive with 20+ years of experience driving enterprise performance and operational excellence. Still Becoming, Untapped Courage: The Bravery Required To Choose More, With Elizabeth Haggerty
2026/03/11
Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Elizabeth Haggerty,  EVP Customer Solutions, America's Division, CRH. She highlights how navigating life's and career pivots, unexpected business challenges, and a life-changing health diagnosis led her to discover untapped reserves of courage and resilience, offering real-life strategies to thrive through uncertainty and continual growth. In today's episode, we discuss: Adopt the "one foot in, one foot out" approach. When considering a new role or industry, bring core skills you already have while stretching into new territory, so you're growing without completely untethering yourself. Let your setbacks refine, not define, you. When a business is sold, or a role ends abruptly, even through being fired, treat it as a painful but powerful pivot point, not a verdict on your worth or future potential. Integrate joy and self-care into your life. Make space for passions, hobbies, and relationships outside of work. These experiences not only enhance your overall well-being but also give you energy and perspective to face professional challenges with renewed spirit. Redefine your identity beyond job titles. Reflect on how external achievements and positions have shaped your sense of self. Shift your focus from titles to your skill sets, values, and unique contributions. This empowers you to navigate transitions and derive fulfillment from multiple aspects of life. Release the need to do everything alone. Accept that asking for help is a sign of wisdom, not weakness. Rely on your team's expertise and focus on asking insightful questions. This collaborative approach strengthens outcomes and develops your leadership. Guest Bio: Elizabeth Haggerty is a high-impact executive with over a 35-year history of driving growth and profitability in the building products industry.   Starting in the HVAC industry leading global product and channel P&Ls before transitioning to the industrial material products space where she has led large P&L businesses and key customer growth strategies.   Liz has experience in green fielding businesses as well as leading turn arounds and corporate carve-outs.   All of this done through building and developing high performing teams and investing in leadership development.  She has a bachelor's and master's degree in metallurgical engineering and an MBA.  Elizabeth has been recognized by:  Glass Magazine as one of the industry's Most Influential People,  Engineered Systems Magazine as 20 Women to Watch  HVAC and by Industry Week for women in manufacturing.   She was also recognized by the Manufacturing Institute a Women in Manufacturing Step Ahead Honoree in 2021. Still Becoming, I Didn't See That Coming: When The Unexpected Becomes The Doorway, with Melissa Muir
2026/02/18
Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with  Melissa Muir, acclaimed jewelry artist and teacher. She highlights how embracing life's unexpected pivot points opens new paths for creativity, personal growth, and transformation. In today's episode, we discuss: Honor your pivot points. Notice the moments whernt feels like a dead end. What would be different if you chose to see it as a time to redesign? Use every closed door or "mistake" as information for your next step. Allow creativity to be learned. Release the belief that you're "not creative" and give yourself permission to practice, experiment, and grow your skills one imperfect attempt at a time. Come home to your own truth. Gently question inherited beliefs, rules, and expectations so you can build a true relationship with yourself, the divine, and others that feels loving, spacious, and genuinely your. Choose communities that help you flourish. Intentionally seek out people who are curious, creative, and kind, knowing that "creativity breeds creativity" and you don't have to do it alone. Talk gently to your younger self. Revisit the bullied, lonely, or hurting version of you and let them know what's coming, so you can release old pain and stand more fully in who you are now. RESOURCES: Guest Bio: Melissa Muir is a metalsmith, educator, and trusted voice in the jewelry industry, known for bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern tools and techniques. With decades of hands-on experience at the bench, she specializes in jewelry fabrication, welding, stone setting, and emerging technologies such as pulse arc welding and engraving. Still Becoming: Embracing the Lifelong Evolution of Success and Meaning
2026/02/11
Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with you as I launch the new "Still Becoming" series. I highlight how the journey of growth and self-discovery continues long after success is achieved, inviting you to explore the moments of untapped courage, unexpected opportunities, and personal evolution that unfold beyond traditional milestones. In today's episode, we discuss: Explore life beyond achievement. Reflect on the moment when hitting goals and earning recognition stopped answering everything, and consider whether it's time to redesign what success looks like for you now. Listen for your quiet evolution. Notice the subtle inner shifts, new perspectives, expanded freedom, unexpected gentleness with yourself, that change how you see your work, your impact, and what's truly possible. Let the unexpected become a doorway. Revisit the chapters you never planned, a random elevator conversation, a surprise opportunity, a path you "stumbled into", that you now wouldn't give back for anything. Tap your untapped courage. Acknowledge the deeper reservoir of bravery it takes to step away from predictability, trust your inner knowing, and say yes when your path is no longer obvious or linear. Choose meaning over momentum. Ask where you're sprinting on autopilot and where you're ready to consciously trade speed for impact, alignment, and the kind of contribution that actually matters to you. Define what "more" means for you now. Let go of one-size-fits-all ambitions and get curious about your current version of "more" in this season—more joy, more presence, more service, more creativity—and honor that as valid and enough. Do you have your own back this year?
2026/01/21
Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I dive into exploring a simple but often overlooked question: Have you set yourself up for success, or expecting yourself to "just make it happen"? This conversation isn't about fixing what you've done in the past or pushing harder in the year ahead. It's about approaching your goals with greater clarity, compassion, and intention—so what matters most has a real chance to take root. In this episode, I reflect on: What it truly means to set yourself up for success Not through pressure or perfection, but through thoughtful preparation that builds confidence and capacity over time. How to reverse-engineer what you want to experience, create, or achieve Looking at daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly rhythms that support growth in a way that's sustainable and realistic. Why warming up matters, on and off the field Using a pole-vaulting metaphor to explore how gradual expansion and attention to form prepare you for new levels of leadership and impact. The value of pausing to distinguish desire from obligation Gently asking whether a goal truly reflects what you want now—or whether it's something you've been carrying out of habit or expectation. At its heart, this episode is an invitation to replace self-demand with self-leadership, and to remember that professional success and personal fulfillment are not competing goals. They are meant to grow together. If you're looking to begin 2026 with greater clarity, alignment, and momentum, so better prepare yourself for celebrations at the end of the year, rather than disappointment with a list of things you did not accomplish. This podcast episode is for you. The Power of Being Human: 2025 Takeaways from Notable Leaders Radio
2025/12/23
Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I am going to share the wisdom from this year's guests. I noticed a theme in the messages that the guests shared. They each spoke from their perspectives on the importance of failure and being human as key elements of their success. Not the lack of them, but rather embracing them. In today's episode, we discuss: Remember that you succeed because you're human, not despite it. Give yourself permission to feel, learn, and be imperfect, self‑trust and humanity fuel far better leadership than white‑knuckled control ever will Commit fully to the action and loosen your grip on the outcome. When you focus on aligned effort instead of rigid results, "failure" turns into feedback, experimentation feels safer, and it becomes much easier to stay in motion. Let your intuition come to work. The quirks, nonlinear career steps, and hard‑won stories you're tempted to hide are often exactly what make your leadership memorable, trustworthy, and uniquely valuable. Build flexible "blueprints" instead of rigid scripts. Map out where you're headed, but hold the plan lightly so you can adjust to new information, opportunities, or constraints without losing your sense of direction. In seasons of disruption, ask: Who am I becoming? Instead of freezing or bracing for impact, use job changes, industry shifts, or personal upheavals as prompts to align more closely with the kind of leader and human you want to be. Normalize vulnerability as part of your leadership toolkit. Naming your struggles, asking for help, or saying "I don't know yet" builds trust, strengthens teams, and creates room for others to be honest about what they need to thrive. Discovering Your Path: Tools for Self-Trust and Life Transformation with Chad Lefevre.
2025/12/10
I heard from so many of you after my first conversation with today's guest that I asked him to come back and take our conversation to the next level.   Who is this mystery guest? Well, today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Chad Lefevre, Founder and Ceo of The Most Important Conversations. He highlights how embracing your unique wiring as a creator can transform uncertainty into opportunity and inspire you to step into your own leadership and impact. In today's episode, we discuss: Discover Your Early Sparks. Ever wonder why some kids just don't stop asking "why?" Chad did that to the point of driving his mom nuts. So it was no surprise that, in Catholic school, the traditions and rituals drew him toward life's deeper mysteries. That kid-like curiosity? It's your clue to passions waiting to light up your path, no matter your age now.   Own Your Unique Wiring. Notice where you think differently, ask endless questions, or spot connections others miss. Chad calls this your natural wiring, not a glitch, and says leaning into it turns "annoying" traits into your secret edge for fresh ideas. We've all got that inner wiring; the question is, are you plugging it in?   Master the Pause in Chaos. That urge to react when life hits hard? Chad's emotional sobriety trick, feel it, breathe, saved him from recycling stress loops. In our wild world of AI shake-ups and uncertainty, this space between trigger and response is your superpower for calm, smart moves.   Step Up in the Storm. With jobs shifting and change everywhere, do your best not to freeze like you are watching a car wreck. Chad challenges us: who will you become amid it all, a fighter, fleer, or creator, grabbing the opportunity? Link arms in community, trust your gut, and turn disruption into your breakthrough story.   RESOURCES: Complementary Resources: …https://www.inc.com/tracy-leigh-hazzard/building-fans-by-connecting-brands-to-brains.html  Guest Bio: Chad Lefevre is an international Design Thinker, business philosopher and strategist, author, speaker and psychonaught with twenty years of senior business experience, successfully designing business strategy, and leading cultural transformation and leadership development initiatives from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies.  Chad's work centers around Liberation, creativity, and being-centered human potential.
