Homemaker Portrait | Kerita Fuller
2024/02/21
In this episode I am chatting with Kerita Fuller about her experience keeping a home for the past 10 years with her husband and step children. Kerita worked for the US Air Force for 20 years before retiring and fully embracing her role as full time homemaker and helpmeet to her husband. We talk about her sudden and steep learning curve of become a mom, not to babies, but to teens. She had a very short runway to prepare them to leave the nest as capable young adults and that was a big responsibility. Kerita shares openly how infertility can tempt her to compare to women who have what she doesn’t but that God has taught her that what motherhood looks like is not what she thinks it should look like, but what He says it looks like. I love her perspective on hospitality and how homemaking builds community and she has some fun stories, tips and ideas to share. Homemaker Portrait | Carly Poulin
2023/11/22
In today’s episode I am chatting with in-the-trenches homemaker, Carly Poulin. Carly blew me away on her application when she shared that God used the art of home podcast to draw her to himself and now she is walking with the Lord. I never intended for this to be an evangelistic podcast but it is because we talk about what it looks like to follow Jesus in the midst of laundy and dishes and diapers, and raising toddlers and teenagers, and showing hospitality. The idea that the Creator of the universe meets us in the mundane and gives us all that we need to walk out our faith and glorify Him through the every day work of homemaking is revolutionary in our culture.  The stories we tell here about how Jesus transforms our homemaking were literally life-changing for Carly…her words, not mine. So keep that in mind as you listen. Carly is a new believer. She is learning and growing and fighting the good fight….shortly before we did this interview she unexpectedly lost her father and that threatened to shake her brand new faith. But God has been with her and I hope you will join me in praying for Carly’s faith to be strengthened, that she will be a light to her family as she serves them, and that God would bring some Titus 2 women into her life. Homemaker Portrait | Naomi Fata
2023/11/15
In today’s episode I am talking with In-the-Trenches homemaker, Naomi Fata. She’s been married 16 years and has 3 kids, ages 8 to 13. She homeschools and runs a sewing and alterations business out of her home--she is a very busy lady. We discuss how she has learned/is learning to balance homemaking, schooling and a home business through compromise, firm boundaries and letting go of some expectations. Naomi is passionate about teaching others how sewing can help them make the most of their clothing and home decor resources. Over the years, Naomi realized that this "stay-at-home dream life" she asked God for does not come with ease. It is challenging to manage it all, but she is learning to differentiate between what God has and has not called her to do in each new day. Whether running a home business or not, this principle applies to all of us as homemakers as we seek to thrive in our calling and not be distracted or overwhelmed by all the possibilities before us. I know you will be encouraged and learn something from Naomi's story of home. Homemaker Portrait | Breanna Wakefield
2023/11/08
In this episode, I had the privilege of interviewing Breanna Wakefield, a full-time homemaker and mother of two. Breanna opened up about the strong influence her mom and grandmothers had on her homemaking journey, highlighting the importance of understanding the why and how behind our daily tasks. We delved into the challenges she faced during her pregnancies, including complications related to endometriosis and her battle with postpartum depression. As someone who has personally experienced postpartum depression, I found our conversation incredibly relatable and encouraging. Breanna also generously shared her tips, tricks, and ideas for successful homemaking, leaving me inspired and eager to implement them in my own life. Trust me, you don't want to miss this valuable and heartfelt conversation. FROM THIS EPISODE All links and resources will be available in this week's free newsletter. Join me for this In-the-Trenches Homemaker Portrait of author, blogger and full-time homemaking mama, Kristen Howard. We talk about how growing up on a South Dakota cattle ranch shaped her idea of home and family and how God is working to grow Kristen's own home and family that she is making with her husband and 2 (almost 3) kids.  Kristen is passionate about slowing down and enjoying the every day gifts of home. That theme is what much of her writing centers around and it comes through clearly in this fun conversation.
