How we can help preserve western values of freedom, independence, and tolerance? A social studies teacher's perspective of the issue that has fundamentally divided the modern political world. East vs. West. Socialism vs. Individualism. Social Humanism vs. Liberal Humanism.

As we all know, reading is foundational to life long learning. However, When I was in high school I read virtually zero books. Maybe one or two cover to cover in four years. Fast forward to my last two years of college and that number has climbed to 30. How did I do it?

I just turned in my final assignment to finish my bachelors. Was it worth it? I have some mixed opinions.

What is the obligation of educators whose job is instructing "soft sciences" like psychology, social studies, or history? How do we approach subjects whose ultimate goal is for the discovery of objective truth, but subjects that cannot be rigorously tested by the scientific method? How much subjectivism is allowed for those who teach students these ideas in public schools? What is your responsibility when there is no objective answer in the field you are teaching? This responsibility is something that has to be addressed, especially for the future of our public education.
