Internalized Beliefs
2026/02/22
In this short Doug shares about internalized beliefs and how they affect us.
Doug Belkofer, a U.S. Army veteran, tech leader, and the founder of Forging Truth—a mission-driven platform dedicated to helping people uncover the hidden beliefs that shape how they see themselves, others, and even God. From the outside, Doug’s life appeared successful, but internally he carried unexamined wounds and a quiet sense ofunworthiness that left him disconnected from himself and the people he loved. When his marriage reached a breaking point, Doug was forced into a season of deep reckoning, one that transformed how he understood truth, personalresponsibility, and the power of presence. Today, Doug courageously shares his journey to remind us that healing, clarity, and hope are possible when we’re willing to face what’s real instead of hiding behind who we think we’re supposed to be.

What is having a Personal Relationship with God?
2025/03/11
Welcome to the "Be an Encourager Podcast"! Where real stories of transformation, faith, and redemption come to life. I’m your host, Claribel Coreano. I’m thrilled to bring you our Third guest of 2025— Armando Alcala, Born and raised in Texas and Grand Rapids Michigan, he grew up in a loving home with both of my parents, his father, originally from Mexico, and his mother, born in California. As the oldest of four siblings, he experienced a childhood filled with stability, faith, and the comforts of having everything he needed. His parents instilled strong values in him, and from a young age, he was taught the gospel, carrying with him a deep-rooted fear of God.
From an early age, he dreamed of becoming an architect and worked hard in school to make that dream a reality. But life took an unexpected turn when he became the target of relentless bullying. At just 13 years old, searching for acceptance and identity, he found himself drawn into gang life. By 17, he had left home, immersing himself in a world of drugs, alcohol, and practices far from his upbringing. He lived recklessly, thinking he was in control—until anxiety became the very thing that led him back to God. Now, he uses his journey as a testimony to help others. Through his podcast, he share powerful stories of people who have experienced transformation, healing, and redemption.
He is a husband, a father to two daughters and one son, and currently in the process of launching a ministry dedicated to mentoring and guiding young people. Get ready for an enriching and encouraging conversation! Let’s dive in. We welcome to “Be An Encourager Podcast.”

Break The Glass
2025/03/11
Break the Glass
To those who thought they broke me—
News flash… you did not break me.
You only shattered the glass that once confined me,
The fragile shell I had been living in.
You see that glass was not protection,
It was a barrier, a prison of my own making.
I had encased myself in it, thinking it kept me safe,
But all it did was hold in the pain, the fear, the trauma.
The wounds inflicted by those who sought to hurt me
Did not destroy me; they became my awakening.
They pushed me—forced me—to see the truth:
That I was never truly free inside that glass.
I once believed I needed someone else to rescue me,
That someone else had to mend my brokenness.
But I was wrong. It was me all along.
I held the power. I had to break the glass myself.
Trauma whispers lies, convincing you that you are weak,
That you are irreparably broken, unworthy of joy.
It tries to chain you to the past, to make you doubt your strength.
But trauma was wrong.
How deep were the wounds that held me captive?
How long did I try to stop the bleeding,
Bandaging my pain with perfectionism, people-pleasing, and masks.
Hiding behind a smile that concealed my suffering.
But here I no longer stand hiding, no longer afraid.
Brave enough to peer into the depths of my wounds,
To unearth every root of pain, every seed of sorrow.
I refuse to let them fester. I refuse to let them define me.
So, I cleanse them, I tend to them with love,
Until they are no longer open wounds but healed scars.
Scars that tell my story, scars that carry my truth.
Scars that bear witness to my resilience.
And still, I remain. Still, I rise.
Not broken, but reborn.
Not shattered, but whole.
A living testimony to healing, to growth, to survival.
So today, I celebrate my healing.
I declare to my past, to my pain, to my trauma—
"I have made it. I am free."
Look how I am thriving!

Brave Enough to See the Light, Brave Enough to Be the Light
2025/02/20
Uplifting Message
Brave Enough to See the Light, Brave Enough to Be the Light
Today’s uplifting message comes from Amanda Gorman’s powerful quote in The Hill We Climb:
"For there is always light. If only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it."
Such a short yet profound statement! The word light carries deep significance—it represents hope, truth, and divine guidance. But seeing the light isn’t always easy, and being the light takes even greater courage.
In a world filled with darkness—doubt, fear, pain—it’s easy to lose sight of the light. And if we can’t see it, we may start to question its existence. But the truth is, light is always present; we just have to be brave enough to acknowledge it, embrace it, and reflect it in our lives.
Jesus Himself is the ultimate light. He came not only to give us life but to show us the way out of darkness. In John 8:12, He declares:
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
So, how do we break free from the blindness that keeps us from seeing and being the light?
The answer is in Ephesians 5:8:
"For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light."
To truly be light in this world, we must first accept Jesus, the source of all light. This requires faith, surrender, and courage—leaving behind what blinds us and stepping into a life that radiates His love and truth.
God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). Whenever you feel lost, discouraged, or overwhelmed, turn to Scripture. Let it illuminate your heart, renew your mind, and strengthen your spirit. Everything you need to see the light and be the light is right there in His Word.
Reflection Questions
1. What are some “darknesses” in your life that prevent you from seeing the light?
2. How can you actively walk as a child of light in your daily life?
3. What steps can you take to reflect God’s light to others around you?
4. What Bible verses have encouraged you when you felt surrounded by darkness?

What is Storytelling?
Storytelling is a universal and ancient art form that transcends time, culture, and historical events. It has been an essential means of preserving knowledge, traditions, and values across generations. Throughout history, storytellers have employed various mediums such as song, chant, music, and poetry to convey their narratives, making their tales both engaging and memorable.
One of the most significant roles of storytelling is played by elder historians who pass down the history of their towns, people, and heritage through oral traditions. Many cultures have maintained their customs and legacies through this practice. For example, the Choctaw Native American tribes use storytelling as a way to preserve their rich history and educate younger generations about their ancestors, beliefs, and way of life. Similarly, Native Hawaiians rely on storytelling to pass down their history, legends, traditions, and genealogies, ensuring that their cultural identity remains intact.
In West Africa, storytelling is deeply rooted in tradition. Families and communities gather around the fire after dinner to listen to griots—storytellers who serve as historians, poets, and musicians. These narratives not only entertain but also teach important lessons about history, traditions, and professions, preparing the next generation to carry forward their cultural heritage.
The Jewish culture also emphasizes the importance of storytelling, particularly during Passover, when families recount the story of the Exodus. Through the Haggadah, younger generations learn about their ancestors’ journey from slavery to freedom, reinforcing their cultural and religious identity.
Another rich storytelling tradition is found in Ireland, where "Seanchaí"—the revered storytellers—once traveled from village to village, reciting ancient tales of wisdom, mythology, and heroic deeds. These stories, which included legends of kings, warriors, and folklore, played a crucial role in preserving Irish heritage and keeping the oral tradition alive.
From indigenous tribes to historical communities across the world, storytelling remains a vital thread that connects people to their past, strengthens cultural identity, and ensures that the wisdom of generations endures. By Claribel Coreano
