A few ideas about “The Ballad of the Sad Café”
2021/07/12
I think "The Ballad of the Sad Café" is a work that represents McCullers’ fictional art very well. In this novel, the author portrays sexual ambivalence, longing for communication and the human need for love. The novella features three main characters and it is set in a Southern town that is melancholic and desolate. Like the town the characters are lonesome, unhappy and estranged from one another.
Some comments on the first part of "A room with a view"
2021/06/28
I am just commenting on the first part of Forster's novel. Sorry for the inconveniences.
L'illa de les dones del mar
2021/06/21
Mrs. Dalloway, a subtly ironic novel?
2021/06/04
There are many voices in this novel, and not only the different characters’ voices but different voices within one only character. As readers we are kind of left with odd pieces of a wider scene rather than in front of solid characters. Well... this is the age of fragmentation.  Let's try to throw some light unto the reading...
Feliç 80 aniversari, Bob Dylan!!
2021/05/28
Some "rambling-on" about E.M. Forster's novel "Maurice"
2021/05/19
In my February-March wrap-up podcast I finished with a reflection on identity and the intention of thinking about becoming as opposed to being. I linked the idea to Deleuze but I have not gone and read his work. I have been kind of going through some of the books I find more relevant under these terms of identity, being, and becoming. "Maurice", identity and some philosophy of language...
February-March reading wrap-up... Islands
2021/05/13
Today I am going to continue talking about some of the books I have read since 2021 started. This is a kind of February-March reading wrap-up. But I’ve decided to group the books around a common element. I seem to be obsessed with the idea of island and unconsciously I have been reading quite a lot of stories set on an island, authors from islands, and so on. It is maybe that there are many islands on our planet, or that I am generally attracted to marginal spaces, to decentralised places...
January reading wrap-up
2021/05/07
Since I read quite a lot and some of the books belong to different genres, centuries, places... I have tried to find some kind of logic in the titles I have read in 2021 so far.  Here are some summaries and recommendations.
