In August 2018, 29-year-old airport employee Richard “Beebo” Russell stole an empty Horizon Air passenger plane from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. With no pilot’s licence and no formal flight training, Richard somehow managed to keep the 76-seat Q400 in the air for more than an hour, performing astonishing manoeuvres while two F-15 fighter jets followed him. But it was his conversations with air traffic control that made the incident so unforgettable. Richard joked about getting a job as a pilot, asked for the coordinates of Area 51, talked about his life and repeatedly assured the controller that he didn’t want to hurt anyone. Before long, the internet had given him a name: #SkyKing. In this episode of Clueless Crime Overtime, we take a closer look at the bizarre final flight of Richard Russell, how he managed to fly a commercial aircraft, the airline’s response, the investigation into what happened, and the complicated internet phenomenon that followed. ☕ Support Clueless Crime: https://buymeacoffee.com/cluelesscrime ❤️ Join us on Patreon: https://patreon.com/cw/CluelessCrimePodcast 📸 Follow us on Instagram: https://instagram.com/cluelesscrimepodcast 🛍️ Shop Clueless Crime Merch: https://clueless-crime-shop.fourthwall.com/en-aud

On July 4, 2026, 18-year-old Nolan Wells travelled by boat with friends to Horn Island, Mississippi, to celebrate the Fourth of July. By the end of the night, Nolan was missing, later his body was discovered on the island. What happened during those final hours has remained the subject of intense debate. Nolan’s friends say he chose to stay behind on the island, while his family has questioned that account and raised concerns about inconsistencies in the timeline, Nolan’s phone, witness statements and the circumstances surrounding his death. His cause of death remains officially undetermined, although a grand jury later concluded that the circumstances were consistent with drowning and declined to bring criminal charges.
