In 2 Kings 4, the Shunamite woman experienced great tragedy when she lost her only child.  However, she didn't blame God for her loss, but instead she sought God with all her heart.  She was able to say, "It is well" throughout her trial.  God heard her cry and restored her son to her.  Jesus told us that in this world we will experience trials and tribulations, but we should not be discouraged because He has overcome the world.  John 16:33. The Prodigal son asked for his inheritance and left his father's house.  Instead of investing his money, he squandered it by living recklessly and immorally.  Soon, a severe famine came on the land and he began to be in need.  He finally came to his senses and returned home.  However, instead of shunning and condemning him, his father ran to greet his son and welcomed him home with open arms.  The father restored his sonship and celebrated his return. In Luke 1, the angel Gabriel visited the virgin, Mary and announced to her that she was going to conceive and give birth to the Son of the Most High.  Mary was perplexed and asked Gabriel how could it possibly be, becasue she was a virgin.  Gabriel explained to her that she would conceive supernaturally. He also informed her that her relative, Elizabeth, who could not have children, and was past the age of childbearing, was six months pregnant.  Gabriel's last words to her before he left was, "No word from God will ever fail." Our Heavenly Father is just and righteous.  He is holy and He cannot tolerate sin.  That is why He sent His Son, Jesus to die for our sins.  John 3:16-17.  Without holiness, no one will see God.  So how do we sinful human beings become holy?  When we choose to repent and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and believe that God raised Him from the dead, our sins are atoned for, and God justifies us.  God then considers us righteous, by His standards.  However, if we choose to reject Jesus' sacrifice for our sins, God's wrath hangs over us continually.  "... but whoever rejects the Son will not see [eternal] life, but [instead] the wrath of God hangs over him continually." All of Israel were afraid of the giant Goliath, except David.  Goliath paralyzed Saul's army with his threats day in and day out.  The Israelites were overcome with fear and intimidation, until David stood up to Goliath.  David trusted God and knew Goliath was no match for his Creator.  David stood his ground and defeated Goliath.  He said in Psalm 16:8, "I keep my eyes always on the LORD.  With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken." In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to renounce their faith.  They refused to compromise and disobey God's commandments.  God protected them when they were thrown into the fiery furnace of testing.  Jesus tells us of the hour of trial or testing that will come upon the earth to test all of us.  That is why He commands us to hold fast to the faith, so that no one will take our crown of life [by leading us to renounce the faith], Revelation 3:11 (AMP). In Isaiah 40, the prophet Isaiah prophesied of a voice of one calling in the wilderness to prepare the way for the Lord.  John the Baptist was the one whom God appointed to prepare the way for Jesus' first appearance into the earth.  We are the John the Baptist generation called to prepare the way for Jesus' second coming.  "How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? In the book of Job, Satan challenged God that Job only served Him because of all the blessings he enjoyed.  Therefore, God gave Satan the permission to rob and steal from Job's life.  However, Job passed the test.  He maintained his integrity towards God.  God allowed Job's suffering to prove that He has given us, His creation the free will or the choice to love and serve Him or to curse and reject Him.  God fulfilled His plan or purpose for Job's life.  From the time that Adam and Eve sinned, God has been fulfilling His plan to reconcile mankind to Himself.  Job 42:2 says, "I know that you, (God) can do all things; no plan or purpose of yours can be restrained or thwarted." Recently many Christians celebrated Easter and many Jews celebrated Passover.  The Christians celebrated the death and the resurrection of Jesus, while the Jews celebrated the Passover as they were commanded by God to do.  God instituted the first Passover when He was about to deliver the Israelites from Egyptian bondage.  The death angel passed over each house with the blood of the lamb on its doorpost.  None of the the firstborn of the Israelites died because the lamb's blood atoned for their sins.  The Passover lamb was a pattern or an example of things to come.  Many years later God sent Jesus, His Son into the earth to be our Passover Lamb.  "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."  John 1:29. On a Friday, almost 2,000 years ago, many people who loved Jesus were weeping and mourning.  Jesus had been crucified.  All hope seemed lost.  Mary and Joseph lost their first born son. The disciples lost their rabbi, their teacher, their Messiah and the Jews who believed in Jesus lost their chance of being liberated from Roman rule.  The Messiah who was healing the sick and raising the dead couldn't save himself.  But Sunday was coming.  Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
