Advertise on podcast: Assured By Grace

AI online platforms have entered the 'spiritual arena' with websites that advertise 'meaningful conversations with Jesus.' What you get is shallow biblical quotes with bland progressive platitudes. "Grace" becomes "tolerance," and truth is lost. In the early morning hours of July 4th, 2025, the Hill Country of Texas was ravaged by the worst flood in recorded history. To date, over 100 have been confirmed dead with many more missing. This is a tragedy that hits close to home for many of us, but which has also captured the attention of the world due to the number of little children that have sadly died as a result. Phil and Danny acknowledge the brokenness and pain of this loss while attempting to provide clarity on the nature and character of God - He did not cause this tragedy. Our God is a God who rescues the lost and brokenhearted through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. He is there for any and all who are hurting and in need.Hosts: Danny Woodward and Pastor Phil Congdon#KerrvilleFlood #HuntTexas #CampMystic #TexasFlood #HillCountryFlooding #NatureOfGod #RescueMission #LoveOfGod#vlog #bible #assuredbygrace #nbbc

Events in the Middle East are changing by the minute. What's coming next in our world? How does this mesh with Bible prophecy? How should a Christian respond? Danny and Phil tackle some of these questions, emphasizing the need to keep looking up and living by grace in these last days.Hosts: Danny Woodward and Pastor Phil Congdon#BiblicalProphecy #IranIsraelConflict #GogandMagog #LastDays #CeaseFireAgreement #LivingbyGrace #Antisemitism

Some approaches to sin -- even within Christian churches today -- minimize the seriousness of sin by ignoring or distorting the authority of Scripture. Other Christian leaders err by overstating the danger of sin, by implying that if we commit certain sins, or are defeated by some sin, this shows we aren't really Christians. Danny and Phil show that neither option is biblical: Sin is serious, but while it can lead to death, eternal salvation is not dependent on us not sinning, but on faith in the sinless One, Jesus Christ. In a recent message to pastors, John Piper addressed a “warning passage” in Hebrews 3. Like many Reformed (Calvinistic) teachers (as well as many Arminians), Piper views this warning as threatening a person with hell if they fail to live a faithful Christian life. Phil and Danny explore what this Scripture actually says (as well as what it doesn’t say), and reveal the awful implications of Piper's teaching. Instead of threatening believers with hell if they falter in their walk, this is an 'encouraging warning' to Christians to live their lives in such a way as to share in the reward that is given to those who are "partners" with Christ! The biblical God pronounces judgment and punishes nations, often resulting in death and destruction. But the Bible also says that God gives "good gifts". Is God really good? What does the overall narrative of Scripture tell us about the character of God? Danny and Phil try to clarify this sometimes confusing subject.Hosts: Danny Woodward and Pastor Phil Congdon #GodsGoodness #DivineSovereignty #GodsPlan #SufferingAndRedemption #TheologyOfGoodness #PurposeInPain #ScriptureInsights

John Rich is a famous country music singer-songwriter. He also believes in Jesus, and isn't afraid to stand up for his faith. But in an interview with Tucker Carlson last year, he talked about theology. Just because a person is famous and a Christian doesn't mean what they say is true. Danny and Phil break down Rich's views that don't mesh with Scripture, and affirm biblical teaching on salvation and end times.Hosts: Danny Woodward and Pastor Phil Congdon#johnrich #returnofchrist #SpiritualInsights #religiousdiscourse #EvangelicalPerspectives #TheologicalError #EndTimesProphecy #spiritualwarfare #revelationsong

Recently, a pastor made the claim that while Christians are attracted to flashy worship services, the world is looking for "holiness". His video went viral. But is this true? And what does "holiness" mean? Phil and Danny explore what "holiness" is, and tackle some tough questions: What effect should holiness have on a Christian life, and what might a lost and dying world actually be seeking instead of holiness?

Interest in prophecy is increasing as events in the Middle East heat up. We're anticipating the Lord coming to take us to be with Him, but in the meantime, can prophecy encourage and challenge us? Following former President Jimmy Carter's death, some theologians declared that although he professed faith in Jesus Christ, his words and actions show that he was never really saved. One of these theologians, Justin Peters, used Bible verses to prove Carter was unsaved. Danny and Phil talk about some of these verses, showing how Peters misuses them, and what they really mean, and affirming once again that eternal life is received by just one thing--faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins and rose again! Former President Jimmy Carter died on December 29th, 2024. In the wake of his death, some theologians have said that though he professed his faith in Jesus Christ, Carter's actions and words show he was never really saved. Phil and Danny explore what one theologian, Justin Peters, says proves that Carter was unsaved. What determines our eternal destiny? Danny and Phil affirm that assurance of salvation is based on only one thing -- faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins and rose again!

Too many Christians falter in their walk of faith, or live in doubt, because they don't understand what it means to be a 'new creation in Christ.' The rise of antisemitism in western counties in the last year has been alarming -- but it's nothing new in human history. Satan has always hated God's Chosen People. Sadly, some in the church have abandoned Israel, too.
