Welcome to Football: A Podcast.  This is our favorite episode to produce because we get to role play as multiple general managers during our draft exercise.  The three of us split 33 picks and make our selections based on what we would do as the GM for the assigned teams. We don't have to worry about outside noise, angry fans, or getting fired. Again, we're not predicting what will happen in this year's draft; we're prescribing what should happen.  There are surprises ahead for listeners.

There are more than a dozen players with the talent and upside worthy of being drafted in the first three rounds. As is the case with this year's crop of receivers, there is a body type, play style, and skillset for any scheme. However, our favorites are the corners who can transcend any gameplan, like Devon Witherspoon, Christian Gonzalez and Deonte Banks. There are also a number of "mid-round" players that will earn snaps early in their career, like Clark Phillips III, Cam Smith, Julius Brents, Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, Garrett Williams, Cameron Mitchell and more. Lastly, we discuss the few corners who are currently being overvalued. Looking at you, Joey Porter Jr., Emmanuel Forbes, and D.J. Turner.

Welcome to Football: A Podcast Deuce Vaughn forever! Bill and Zack gush over one of their favorite prospects in this year's class. It's just too bad no one's going to draft him. These running backs, however, represents one of the deepest classes in years, as the players display a wide variety of meaningful skill sets. There's (unsurprisingly) agreement on the top two backs but our evaluations differ wildly starting with our third-ranked prospects. Israel Abanikanda, Devon Achane, Tyjae Spears, Chase Brown, and Kenny McIntosh are a few of our favorites. We also believe Sean Tucker is the sleeper of this class.

Collectively, however, our player evaluations don't match the allure of the position. Few, if any, of these players will step in as a team's best receiver on the first day of training camp. Opinions vary wildly in this episode but both hosts believe teams will find valuable contributors in the middle and late rounds this year. Rashee Rice, Dontay Demus, Charlie Jones, Michael Wilson, Marvin Mims and Jonathan Mingo are a few of the players who will make GMs look smart for letting the board come to them.

Elite left tackles are at a premium this year while serviceable right tackles can be found later in this year's draft. GMs Beware: You're going to have fewer chances at landing a legitimate franchise tackle than in years past. No one will mistake these players for Penei Sewell or Charles Cross.
