Jennifer Hope Longenecker on Faith, Family and Held in the Dark
2026/09/07
On this episode of Faith and Family Fellowship, Pastor Chris Buscher speaks with Jennifer Hope Longenecker, co-author of Held in the Dark, a mother-daughter guide for families navigating adolescent eating disorders.
Jennifer writes from several perspectives at once: as a mother who walked beside her daughter through an eating disorder, as someone who experienced an eating disorder herself, and as a certified mental health coach with training in trauma-informed care. Her daughter Heather Elizabeth contributes the perspective of the young person actually living through the illness and recovery.
The conversation explores what parents often misunderstand, caregiver exhaustion, rebuilding trust, navigating treatment, and holding onto faith when recovery does not happen on the timeline we would choose.
We also talk about the role churches can play in supporting families facing mental health challenges and why Jennifer believes faith and hope can be present without minimizing how difficult the journey really is.

2026/08/21
On this episode of Faith and Family Fellowship, Pastor Chris Buscher speaks with Paul Osbourn, author of God’s Big Plan: Earthly Kings to King Jesus.
Through the fireside storytelling of Grandpa Joe and his three grandsons, the book introduces young readers to Saul, David, Solomon, Jehoshaphat, Hezekiah, Josiah, and ultimately Jesus Christ. Each earthly king reveals something about leadership, trust, wisdom, worship, obedience, and failure, while pointing children toward the one true King who never fails.
Paul discusses why biblical history matters for children, how the Old Testament connects to the gospel, and why he wanted young readers to see Scripture as one unfolding story of redemption rather than a collection of disconnected Bible stories.
God’s Big Plan: Earthly Kings to King Jesus is scheduled to release on Amazon August 13, 2026.

Dr. Shaun Jester on Spiritual CPR: How Christians Should Respond When Someone Is in Crisis
2026/08/12
What should Christians actually do when another believer is caught in serious sin or spiritual crisis?
On this episode of Faith and Family Fellowship, Pastor Chris Buscher speaks with Dr. Shaun Jester, author of Spiritual CPR: Recognizing and Intervening When a Christian Is in Crisis.
Shaun is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who took principles from emergency medicine and applied them to a problem he sees inside the church: Christians are often prepared to respond to a physical emergency, yet may not know how to respond when a fellow believer is facing a spiritual one.
The conversation explores biblical intervention, restoration, judgment, compassion, pornography, sexual sin, abortion, estrangement, chronic sin, and apathy. Shaun also explains his WASH PIGS framework, a practical method designed to help Christians assess a situation before trying to intervene.
We also discuss his experience as one of the doctors involved in the federal litigation concerning the FDA and mifepristone and how his medical background has shaped his approach to the issue of abortion.
This is a conversation about refusing two extremes: compromising biblical truth or abandoning people when they need help most.

We also discuss The Inner Man Activation, his work as an author of more than seventeen books, and the larger mission behind helping people discover who they are, why they are here, and how to walk in God’s purpose.
