Peanut Butter & Tuna, Sabotage, and Compulsive Urges (Ep. 234)
2026/10/22
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we are back and Josh is fighting off congestion and running on little sleep, so thoughts are a bit disoriented and make for interesting commentary. We start off discussing Josh's need for lunch, peanut butter and tuna sandwiches, and Marty's recent experience at Chic-fil-A. This pivots into a discussion on the explosion of the Titan submersible and recent accusations that the creator of the vessel wanted it to explode. We discuss the mindset of someone wanting to die for the sake of infamy and the lengths he was willing to go to to make it happen. This leads to a discussion on ways we identify as people and how we struggle to make changes that lead to a new identity. Enjoy! [email protected]
Smoking Crack, Icarus, and Overcoming Fear (Ep. 233)
2026/10/08
Welcome back T&J fam! We launch into this week's episode by recapping dumb statements Marty made during last week's show. This turns into a discussion about funny interview moments and more ridiculous moments in the life of Marty and Josh. Then, we shift gears and talk about Greek mythology and the story of Icarus. Josh discusses how this often presents in our lives as self-sabotaging behavior. We dive into the fear of failure and how people tend to "get big or get small" when put under pressure. We unpack what this means and how we can more successfully pursue areas of growth in our lives. Enjoy! [email protected]
How do you reconcile OT God with NT Jesus? (Ep. 232)
2026/10/01
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have a patient donated Dirty Brew Review and a listener submitted question. One of Marty's patients gave us a dark roast coffee pod from Summer Moon Coffee. This quickly made it's way to the top of list for dark roast coffee pod and is definitely something everyone should try. While sipping on this coffee, we discuss funerals and giving eulogies. Then we shifted to a question provided from our friend and faithful listener, Daniel. He wanted to know what we thought about the God you see in the Old Testament compared to the God you see in Jesus. Did Jesus come to fix the view we have of God in the OT? Is this the same God we see in both? Listen to the show to see what we decide and feel free to drop your thoughts to the address below. Enjoy! [email protected]
Behind the Veil: Lessons from being in church leadership w/ Josh Hyatt (Ep. 231)
2026/09/17
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have a special guest on the show - Josh Hyatt. Josh H. grew up with Josh M. and is an active listener of the show. Josh H. and Marty have some similar church experiences and Josh M. had questions to be answered. But before we dive into the good stuff, Josh H. brought some local coffee for a Dirty Brew Review. The coffee proved to be delicious, even if it was eight months old. Following the review and some get-to-know-you talk, Josh M. dove into questions about being in church leadership and what surfaces once you are in the inside. Josh H. and Marty discuss lessons they have learned and insights gained over the last several years. Enjoy! [email protected]

2026/09/11

Josh and Marty both identify some of the moments that have most shaped their lives. Feel free to drop us a message with what has changed you the most at the address below! Then, Josh discusses a recent through he had about people that adopt a victim mindset. We discuss who the most powerful person on the planet is and and how this gives us insight into how people adapt and interact with the world around them. We dive into early childhood events and how early messaging impacts the trajectory of our lives. We also discuss the spiritual implications of these experiences and how a just God takes these matters into account. Enjoy! [email protected]
Not Your Fault, But Your Responsibility: JP & Mica Miller (Ep. 229)
2026/09/03
Welcome back T&J fam! - (Trigger Warning: today's show discusses abuse and suicide) - It is the start of football season, which means we have to discuss fantasy football and our bandwagon team of the year. Josh makes his pie-in-the-sky college football prediction and Marty doubles down on his Rams. After that, Josh surprises Marty with tickets to one of his favorite bands. Then, we get a special call in from Marty's wife, Ashley, as we discuss the new documentary "Death of a Pastor's Wife", which chronicles the JP & Mica Miller situation in Myrtle Beach, SC. 7Brew Review, Generation Z, and Dominating the Weak w/ Kate Elliott (Ep. 228)
2026/08/27
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have a special guest - Kate Elliott. Kate is a counselor with Hub City Counseling and runs our social media pages. And although she won't admit it, she is a bit of an influencer herself with a large TikTok following. We start the show off with a Dirty Brew Review of 7Brew, which just opened across the street from our office. Josh got impulsive and brought us four drinks to try: Mocha, Banana Bread, Toasted Marshmallow, and Cinnamon Roll. Let's just say that all were not the same. Then, we dive into a discussion with Kate about the stereotypes around Gen Z and what she likes and does not like about her generation. Kate also opens up about becoming a counselor, a recent contest she won, and dominating opponents on the pickle ball court. Enjoy! [email protected]
Dream Analysis and Why We Fear the Truth (Ep. 227)
2026/08/20
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we dive into the show with some dream analysis. Following an interesting dream about getting a facelift, Marty wants to know the real meaning behind his dream and whether it reflects a deeper truth. This turns into a discussion on dad jokes and what makes them funny. Then, we return to the idea of "truth" and how we often cannot see the truth in our lives. We discuss some examples of how this happens and the possibility that we are afraid of knowing the truth. We dive into a discussion on fear and how fear can blind us from acknowledging what is obvious to others. Enjoy! [email protected]
Bipolar Disorder, Thunderstorms, Shaping Your Inner Animal (Ep. 226)
2026/08/13
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we jump in the deep end as Marty tries to self-diagnose himself with Bipolar Disorder. This leads to an overly detailed explanation of the difference in Bipolar Disorder and emotional dysregulation disorders. Long story short - Marty is probably not bipolar. Then Josh takes on a dolphin riding experience with his love of thunderstorms, which turns into a discussion about the animal within all of us. We discuss the impact of increased standards in civilized countries and how animalistic urges will surface if left unaddressed. Ultimately, we discuss the need to be balance and to not deny the needs that are present in our lives. Enjoy! [email protected]
Heresy: How do we know where the line is? (Ep. 225)
2026/08/07
Welcome back T&J fam! To commemorate the start of another school year, we discuss our own elementary school memories. This discussion somehow leads to a discussion on homosexuality and words Paul made up. Then, we have a very interesting coffee segment that I would not call a review. At the recommendation of Zane, we tried cold coffee and mentos to see if it tastes like pumpernickel bread. Then we transition to the topic of heresy and what makes a belief heretical. We define the term and discuss how the concept has been weaponized through the centuries. While trying to acknowledge the value of core beliefs, we also discuss the need for flexibility and disagreement amongst beliefs. We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic as well! Feel free to drop them to the address below. [email protected]
I don't need heaven if I have Jesus (Ep. 224)
2026/07/31

However, I suspect you have an answer, so send your them to the address below! We then discuss meeting celebrities and Marty's very overthought approach to famous people. Josh then transitions us to a discussion on death via the Sopranos. We discuss what happens at death and our struggles to image something so unimaginable. We then transition to the spiritual reality of being sufficient in Christ and how our belief should be in Christ, not in chasing heaven. Enjoy! [email protected]
Self-Esteem is the Symptom, Not the Problem (Ep. 223)
2026/07/23
Welcome back T&J fam! We are back from vacation and ready to dive into a lot of topics. Marty shares about his wife's zoomies and how this led to a less than enjoyable night with a weighted blanket. Josh then dives into a discussion on self-esteem and what that really means. We discuss what forms the view of ourselves and how a secure view in Christ should eliminate this need. We acknowledge how this can be hard and how we have seen it play out in our own lives. Lastly, we touch on some practical ways to address self-esteem and work towards health if this is an area of struggle. Feel free to send us your thoughts or questions to the address below. Orchestration and Redemption: God's Role in the Bad Things of Life (Ep. 222)
2026/07/10
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we come ready with a Dirty Brew Coffee Review. Josh brought in some whole bean coffee from a local ministry - Fresh Start Coffee Works. It proves to be an excellent daily drinker that delivers a solid 6.2 on the completely made up T&J coffee scale. Josh also introduces us to a new game that will prove to be very addictive if you allow. We then transition into a discussion on medical emergencies at church and the bad things that happen in life. In response to a listener question, we discuss the age old debate or "why do bad things happen" and what is God's role in these things. We try to define what "bad" is and discuss our views of God and His level of intervention with creation. We then circle back around and try to explain our answer to this difficult question. Feel free to send us your thoughts and opinions to the address below. [email protected]
A Brotherly Love Podcast Takeover w/ Zane Moyer (Ep. 221)
2026/07/02
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have a podcast takeover. Our friend, Zane Moyer, joins the show and hijacks the mic. He brings us a Dirty Brew Review with some coffee straight from Philadelphia. We talk with Zane about being from Philly, his work with different NFL teams, and how this led to where he is today. Zane then takes over and brings his own questions to the show. We discuss theology, handling theological disagreements, the importance of love, and several other questions. As always, we welcome questions and messages from anyone who wants us to to discuss their views and possibly make a guest appearance. Enjoy!
Women in Leadership: A Title Only Baptists Care About (Ep. 220)
2026/06/18
Welcome back T&J fam! We are sorry we missed last week but are gonna try to make up for it with this episode. To start out, we have a Dirty Brew Review for you. We try some coffee that was gifted to us by a loyal fan. This proves to be a delightful drink that makes you rethink what coffee should taste like. We then discuss whether hotdogs are a sandwich and somehow transition this into the topic of women in leadership. Following the recent SBC vote, we thought it was time for us to finally address this topic head on. We discuss our preconceived beliefs on the topic, upbringings, and theological views that inform the discussion. Ultimately, we are far more alike than we are different on this topic and expect some passionate feedback. Feel free to send us your thoughts to the address below. [email protected]
