God simply SPOKE creation into existence. God's words have ultimate power and authority. Since we are created in the image of God, it stands to reason that our words also carry power. Obviously, our words are not on the same level as God’s, but they are powerful nonetheless.  SPOKEN WORDS HAVE POWER! Spoken words can have a powerful effect on others, for good….or for evil. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and he who loves it will eat its fruits"  -Proverbs 18:22

Adults who did not hear the encouragement, the love and the words of affirmation that they needed to hear as children often say, "that's just how I was raised" or "well, mom and dad did their best." Well that may be true, it does not mean it is okay and it certainly shouldn't be passed down to the next generation.  Consider this: The words you do NOT hear in childhood, can be just as damaging as hurtful words we do hear. The absence of affirmation can be as destructive as overt abuse.

Your legacy is how you are remembered for the way you have impacted the lives of others well into the future. So WHAT IS YOUR LEGACY? Is it your intelligence? Your abilities? Your success? Your bank account? Your possessions? What are the ‘things’ left behind after your passing to be passed along to others?

Of course we can trust in the Lord when we are experiencing understanding, or when our circumstances make sense and we can see how what we are experiencing today will make sense tomorrow…but what happens when we cannot understand the WHY behind the WHAT!!?? It’s easy to praise God in victory, but far more challenging to trust Him in uncertainty!

PSALM 34:18- The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  Dealing with emotional pain or trauma is inevitable and for many of us, we learned coping mechanisms or have ‘learned behaviors’ from childhood that are unhealthy at best. For many of us, learning how to heal from heartbreak requires un-learning unhealthy emotional habits and reactions to pain.

No matter what we are feeling or going through we can lean on God, His word and His promises to bring us comfort and hope ❤️
