Jesus appeared before a total of six trials leading up to his death on a cross. In John 18, Jesus appeared before Pontius Pilate, and they had a conversation about the Kingdom of God, and about what truth is. Pilate said to Jesus, "What is truth?" not knowing that Jesus is the truth. Verses: John 14: 2, John 18: 28-40, Matthew 23: 24, John 12: 32-33, Galatians 3: 13-14, Luke 23: 1-2, Isaiah 9: 6-7 Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson

Peter is prideful and over confident in himself, and he ends up denying the Lord three times. But God uses his failure to humble him and prepare him for ministry. We can also learn from Peter's failure how to not give in to temptation during times of testing and trial. A servant of the Lord must be humble. Verses: John 18: 15-27, John 13: 38, Matthew 16: 23, 1 Peter 5: 5-7, Luke 14: 11, Psalm 51: 4 Pastor: Rob Orr

After the Upper Room, Jesus went with his disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane. Judas, the betrayer, brought with him a band of Roman soldiers and Jewish officers to arrest Jesus in the garden. Jesus knew of everything that would happen, even before it happened. Verses: John 18: 1-14, John 11: 49-53 Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson

On the night before his sacrificial death, Jesus lifted up his eyes to heaven, and he prayed to the Father. The High Prayer is a glorious prayer that gives us a clear glimpse into the heart of God for his people. Verses: John 17: 11-26 Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson

Jesus concludes the Upper Room Discourse by telling the disciples about the love of the Father and the peace of Jesus in a world full of tribulation. The disciples thought they had believed, but they still did not know Jesus Christ as the crucified and risen one. Verses: John 16: 25-33, Zechariah 13: 7 Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson

Jesus told his disciples that in a little while they would not see him, but in a little while they would see him again. The disciples were confused about what Jesus meant, because they did not have the Holy Spirit to guide them in truth. So, Jesus gave them a parable to help them understand what would happen after the resurrection of Jesus. Because Jesus is alive, our sorrow is turned into joy. Verses: John 16: 12, John 16: 13-24, John 14: 1-4 Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson

Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to be the Helper and the Spirit of truth. The Holy Spirit did come into the world, and he is convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It is to our advantage that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, because he now dwells in all believers. Verses: John 15: 26-16: 12, Matthew 13: 20-21, Acts 26: 9-11, Matthew 10: 28 Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson

Jesus said greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. Jesus calls us his friends, and he commands us to love one another in the same way he has loved us. When we live this way for Jesus, we can expect hatred from the world. Verses: John 15: 12-25, Mark 3: 13-15, Luke 6: 26 Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson

Jesus tells the Disciples (and us) how to stay connected to Him after His return to the Father in Heaven, and how through that connection we will be able to draw closer to Him, be useful and fruitful in His Kingdom, glorify God, and have profound joy. Verses: John 14: 1-3, John 14: 31 - 15: 11, Hebrews 12: 1-2, John 13: 10, 1 Samuel 15: 22 Pastor: Rob Orr

In the upper room, Jesus told his disciples, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." He then promised that he would ask the Father to send another Helper. The Holy Spirit was sent to dwell within believers, teaching and reminding them of Jesus' words, and empowering them to love Jesus through joyful obedience. What Jesus commands, the Holy Spirit enables. Verses : John 14: 15-31, 1 John 2: 3-6, 1 John 5: 1-5 (NLT) Pastor: Daniel Hendrickson
