Another end, and another beginning. Aquarius and the first half of Imbolc are over, and we approach the New Moon, the start of Pisces, and the start of the New Lunar New Year. As we pass through this portion of the Wheel, we pass through some very important fixed stars. This collection of stars always reminds me of the Martin Luther King, Jr. quote “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” But a loving reminder, dear Heathens, it does not bend by itself. Our deeds are the force that bends it, or not. This is a great star to contemplate the arc from our foolish youth, to our present state, to whatever we might become in the future. The Wheel of the Year continues to spin with Imbolc, also known as Candlemas in some traditions. Join my Patreon to get a 20 page workbook (link below) with a ton of info including astrology transits for 2026, journaling suggestions, ritual pieces, and more! This year's class is def more theory and theology, less customs and crafts. That said, every year different information comes forward to be discussed so I recommend watching previous years to learn more. This Greater Sabbat represents a light in the darkness of Winter. The lessons we can learn about perseverance and hope at this dark time can serve us throughout the coming year. And while we are still in the frozen grip of Winter, we are dreaming of what we could sprout in Spring. Falling on February 2nd, Imbolc is the halfway mark between Winter and Spring. Purification, honoring the dead, and reconnecting to natural resources are all sacred acts. Also at this Sabbat, many Witches will rededicate themselves to their path, or dedicate themselves to a new skill, rekindling their passion for life after walking through the stillness of Winter. Explore the deep Winter hope of this Cross Quarter festival and season marked by ceremonies and magical work dedicated to light & fire, timekeeping, purification and fortitude. Learn how to make the most of your Winter hibernation, clearing the way for the growth of Spring! But the work isn't done after one night! We’ll take a look at what we can expect for the coming 6-7 weeks of Imbolc season. We will learn how to observe this time of dreaming and initiation for yourself or with your community. And get ready to Do The Work. Grab a friend, a journal or some art supplies, maybe make a pot of tea and a snack, and settle in. I also encourage folks to create sacred space for themselves by lighting a candle and/or some incense. You might also include magical tools like Tarot and your natal chart. This Moon is going to bring into sharp focus the compromises we are forced to make to live in Western capitalist society. In what ways have you been required to sell your dreams or your ethics when it comes to survival and physical resources? This Moon is going to help us - with discomfort - to get clearer on what we want to build in this world and what compromises we are willing to make to manifest those dreams. This moon could also be a moment of defining exactly what we won’t compromise on, even if it means taking the harder road. Whoops! A lil late with this one, so much for organized and responsible! Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Pluto all snuggled up with the Moon and Sun this week. In the broadest context this is our feelings and our sense of self/purpose, feeling in alignment with the current zeitgeist, which is of course relative to our environment. This can embolden us if we are surrounded by a bunch of like minded folks. Further, we’re getting support from Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, so it may feel like we have the approval of the Gods. This potent lineup will last for a few days past the New Moon, so utilize the time to consider the largest form of your blueprint for the coming year. Juno Sospita, The Happy Woman, Ekeko, and fixed stars like Dabih and Altair are here to help us build worlds this week. The straightforward symbolism of the massive protests happening this weekend against the backdrop of the Waning Moon in Libra is profound. This Moon lights up the cardinal axis in a grand cross and all at once we might feel a need to be direct and purposeful in the world for our self, our partners, our family, and our collective, while simultaneously feeling over-committed and dissatisfied with past attempts at this work. Feel that discomfort. The ‘gift’ of the Waning Moon is to get square with what changes demand to be made, and deeper clarity about what cannot go forth. Entities like Janus Bifron, The Norns, Surya, and Malanka are here to illuminate, guide, and comfort us. Happy New Year! Cancer Full Moon energy wants to nurture. What if we nurtured our cities? What if we treated our community like our family? What if we treated our neighborhoods like they were our sacred lands? Wealth, power, and how to keep it, is the concern of Capricorn. The commonwealth is the concern of Cancer and how we maintain society is the greatest power and indication of the trajectory of our souls. The Wheel turns, and The Wheel turns. Here we go again, for the first time! Our New Moon in Aquarius always kicks off a Lunar New year, but this year, it's also in alignment with Imbolc. This is a Sabbat and season of fog, dreams, abstraction, and breaking up the old forms to make way for the new. This work can be confusing, enlightening, and destabilizing. The New Moon in Aquarius is our yearly check in on our process of coming into alignment with our future, and the possibilities out in front of us. Goddesses like Brigid and Saraswati lend their skills and intellect to this work. The astrology of this week supports this work - in particular, sending a petition of hope out to the Universe - if we can only stay open to receiving the responses. In this episode we cover: the astrology and Lunar work of the week, accompanying Tarot, the Celtic Tree Month, the Runic Half Month, and tons more. The dark is here. The shift in the Sun's path is undeniable as the days shorten and the weather grows darker and colder. The Cross-Quarter holiday Samhain (pronounced "sow-wain") is possibly the most well-known of the Sabbats. Americans celebrate it as Hallowe'en. Samhain is the true tipping point into The Underworld Journey of Winter. Learn how to incorporate archetypes and symbols that can sometimes be dark and spooky into your life as healthy and balanced forms of working with The Shadow and to help you make the final shift away from the labor and celebrations of Autumn into the stillness and and rebirth of the coming Winter season. In this two hour lecture we will take a look at the superstitions and traditions surrounding Samhain, considering how people have used revelry, shape shifting, and pranks to deal with the oncoming chaos and breakdown of Winter - or to help bring it about. Immerse yourself in the ancient global rituals of this Cross Quarter festival acknowledging the death of the Sun and the Earth discover how you can evoke this power in your own life and world. But the work isn't done after one night! We'll take a look at what we can expect for the coming 6-7 weeks of Samhain season, learn how you can observe this time of transition for yourself or with your community, and get ready to Head Underground. Grab a friend, a journal or some art supplies, maybe make a pot of tea and a snack, and settle in. I also encourage folks to create sacred space for themselves by lighting a candle and/or some incense. You might also include magical tools like Tarot and your natal chart. See you in class, Witch! This moon asks us to find something meaningful to fight for and/or to turn our swords to ploughshares. Witness the fullness of your process around your sacred warrior energy, the difference between being self-centered vs centered in Self. Where can we light lamps and curse the forces that would diminish that light? Spica and Arcturus oversee the dispensation of gifts, and the consequences of withholding from those in need. Thoth and Nepthys and Cernunnos and more all show up this week to help us understand the step we are taking in the Underworld Journey. Hello Heathens. Lets ground into the energy of Autumn, Mabon, and the work presented by the eclipse New Moon. As we call in the energy of the Vine and the Grape, we must consider the Seed and the Harvest. Celestial deities like Vindemiatrix and Porrima point to the labor and the oracular voices singing in the fields. The voices come from above and below, as we observe Ancestor feeding rituals. Witches are called to attend the Scales, and engage the action of balancing the Light and Dark as we step into the Underworld Journey.
