As we come to the end of the Christmas season, we have been told that Jesus would be called Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, Everlasting Father. Yet ultimately He came as a Humble King. 1 John 4:13-21 tells us that loving God began with God. God's love never fails, and never gives up. He became a man, and dwelt among us; He came near. Through the cross, He showed the great love given for us.

When God Doesn’t Show Up

Pastor Matt Ulrich continues the What Child Is This? series. The Christmas season can can be one of the hardest times. If God didn't show up in the way we wanted him to, we may wonder how a baby in a manger going to help us with all the disappointments in our lives? Isaiah 9:6-7 prophecies the coming of a mighty King. This is again proclaimed in Luke 1:26-33 with, "... His kingdom will never end." Our seasons of brokenness can be used for His glory, when we bring the broken pieces back to His presence.

The Person of God

The What Child Is This? series continues with a look at the Person of Jesus. The prophet Isaiah described what the Messiah would look like: Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Everlasting Father. Jesus came to fulfill this promise so that we may know salvation. Yet His coming also gave us a glimpse of what God looks like. In the personhood of Jesus, we can  fully know God, and come to be more like Him.
