At the core of believing  in ourselves is the desire to  be in control.  However if we attempt to live  life solely believing in ourselves  we will be trapped by discouragement ,  fear, anxiety and worry. Try harder. Work more.  Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps.  These messages clamor loudly in Western culture. But the Bible tells us that resilience is not a matter of trying harder. It is built through training wisely---taking up certain disciplines that help us grow in grace.    We need to make an alliance with ourselves no matter what comes our way, no matter what missteps we take .  The only thing that matters is to just take one more step. Expectation always produces some sort of action within us and without action faith becomes stagnate.  Actions are the answer to keeping your faith alive. To make sure your expectations find the outflow they need for God to show up big in your circumstances.  Everything we do is shaped by the expectations we carry. If we expect to be promoted or rewarded, that expectation will drive us to work harder. When no one is willing to compromise the answer becomes hurt and division which robs us of the very thing we were built for…. Community.   It’s funny how we humans work isn’t it. On one hand we value relationships so much and thrive when we are involved in them and on the other all it takes is one wrongly timed word or an unintentional action and poof split and division takes root.    In this episode we dive into understanding compromise and what happens when we are unwilling to do so because we maintain a guarded position.
