Sometimes just one person’s belief in you can help you see a future you never thought possible and give you the courage to take a chance.  For Zarah Juan, it was a woman at her family’s sari-sari store who told her when she was eight years old that she could become a flight attendant. She did—and traveling the world shaped her eye for design. In 2007, she started a small eco-bag business, which became her namesake fashion brand in 2016, known for playful, handcrafted designs like the Jeepney, Carabao, and Pineapple totes. Featured in Forbes, Vogue Italia, Vogue Hong Kong, and Vogue Philippines, Zarah is a 2023 Vital Voices Fellow and recipient of the 2018 APEC BEST award for Most Innovative Business Model. Today, she works with seven primary artisan communities from Abra to Davao, supporting more than 350 artisans.
