Description

A Pipeline Artists original podcast about nothing and everything. Hosts Sadie Dean and Jeanne Veillette Bowerman share the truth, and nothing but the truth, about the challenges and benefits of living life as artists, striving for freedom to create in any medium, even ones you never thought of before. It's honest—no sugarcoating or selling hope. We tell it like it is, while always finding ways to make lemonade out of lemons. Think of us as Michael Bay, but with action items that don’t explode.

Scott Myers Examines Spec Script Deals ... and Why You Should, Too
2026/09/25
If you don't know who Scott Myers is, you will now. Amazing writer, professor and champion of writers. He has been tracking spec script deals since the early 1990s, and compiled a new FREE ebook, Spec Script Deals: 1991 to 2025, full of thousands of loglines of scripts that sold. Invaluable resource for writers. This is a must-listen for all screenwriters looking to understand how the business side of the industry works. Scott's bio: Scott has written over thirty movie and TV projects at every major Hollywood studio and broadcast network. His screenwriting credits include K-9 (Universal) which spawned two sequels, Alaska (Sony/Castle Rock), and Trojan War (Warner Bros.). He has been a member of the Writers’ Guild of America, West since 1987. From 2002-2010, Scott was an executive producer at Trailblazer Studios, overseeing the company’s original content development for TV including the Scripps and Discovery networks. Scott has taught in the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program, receiving its Outstanding Instructor Award in 2005, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and since 2008 has hosted GoIntoTheStory.com, the official screenwriting blog of the Black List. He joined the faculty at DePaul’s School of Cinematic Arts in the fall 2016. Scott graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree (with Honors) in Religious Studies and Yale University, where he received a Masters of Divinity degree cum laude. The Hard Earned Truths About Indie Filmmaking with 'Tight Lettuce' Filmmakers Harrison Houde and Dakota Daulby
2026/08/25
On this episode, Sadie has the pleasure of speaking with two phenomenal indie filmmakers – Harrison Houde and Dakota Daulby about their debut feature film Tight Lettuce.  The film took home the Audience Award for Best Quebec Feature at Fantasia Film Festival (2026). The film is currently on a limited release theatrical run - but be sure to follow them on Instagram and their website for updates.  Now, these are two indie filmmakers you need to have on your radar. They're carving their own path, one film at a time (actually quite a few films at a time), and all that hard work has taken them on a grand journey to getting to make this feature film. The film is based on a true story - and these two dug deep on the topic on hand about addiction and familial bonds.  These two share a lot on the topic of independent filmmaking, the process, the collaborative effort, and share key learning points from this latest creative endeavor (ie don't shoot car scenes)! And don't worry - Jeanne will be back! We have some really great conversations dropping here soon - so stay tuned! Battling Your Inner Critic with 'Big Baby' Horror Filmmaker Spider One
2026/08/08
Sadie takes a solo adventure into the world of horror with multi-hyphenate creative Spider One (Big Baby, Allegoria) and vocalist of 90s rock band Powerman 5000. While they don't talk about his music career, they do deep dive into his new horror film Big Baby which is now available to watch OnDemand. Lots of ground is covered from what happens when you try to control the narrative and how to spin that on its head into the horror genre (you end up getting an accountability partner you didn't necessarily ask for...) to really great advice on how to battle your inner critic.  Resources from this episode:  Big Baby Trailer Watch Big Baby OnDemand Spider One InstagramPipeline Podcasts: All OG Pipeline Artists podcasts can be found on pipelineartists.com/listen.
